Well, obviously you need something from Super Metroid. It's just too damn tough to decide what part to choose. Maybe some fast walljumping or perhaps Phantoon? Or maybe one of those parts where JXQ is running at full speed and then in the middle of a jump morphs into a ball and keeps jumping. That rocks.

If you are planning on submitting this run to the site, you should definitely start over and use the highest difficulty. It is not uncommon for runs to get rejected only because they are not played on the hardest difficulty. Runs of games that have a hard difficulty that only doubles the enemies' health or something sometimes do get published though, because it is decided that the hardest difficulty level doesn't really add anything that valuable to the movie. I'm not familiar with the game and don't know whether this is the case here.

Well I certainly am not comfortable with the idea of editing the .avis to show or not show anything that happens or doesn't really happen when playing the game on an emulator, and I'm pretty sure Bisqwit isn't either. The point of the movies has always been that they are not edited, even if it is just to cut out waiting time.

Well since it's not due to some cool trick and the time saved is minimal, I don't really think it matters.

No, it's not against the rules. Please use it. May the force be with you.

Isn't this a common problem that always happens at least to some extent no matter what you do? I think the time it takes for the inventory to pop up can be reduced somehow (Bag's suggestion maybe?) but I don't think you can get rid of it entirely.

I'd like to say that even though this run is mentioned every time someone talks about great runs, it's not everyone's favorite. It's probably because I have never played the game (I have played Sonic 1 and 2 though) but this run has never really been anything special to me. It's just... long. I actually had to watch it in parts to stay interested. I think the stars are fine the way are now and I don't think this movie should have one.

Had you been around back then, you wouldn't have voted anything because back then there was no voting system and Bisqwit alone decided what to publish. I don't think there was even a submission system at that point, the files were sent to Bisqwit by e-mail :)

I agree with Luke, Phil's LoZ run is amazing, definitely one of my favorites. Other awesome movies include *MM5 by Baxter and the use of super arrow *Wizards & Warriors 3 by Ferrer Warlord & Dacicus because of all the awesome sequence breaking *Super Castlevania 4 by Phil & Genisto because of a great game and awesome boss battles *All SDW, SMW and Super Metroid runs because the physics allow for incredible stunts *Tetris Attack by Acmlm because of super fast movements and doing like 4 combos at the same time

This isn't gonna make it, is it? Please save my day spezzafer and tell me you're just about finished with world 6 and about to submit the run.

I wouldn't suggest trying this again. The game just isn't very TASable.

Good run, I like the variety the other spells bring.

I've never heard of that trick. Sometimes the game gives you two weapon orb chests in a row (where there seems to be only one) but this is probably because you have missed an orb somewhere, and this is the game's way of repairing the situation and getting you where you should be with the weapon orbs. I think this has just been misinterpretated as a multiple weapon orb trick here.

I can't remeber the levels, but IIRC there are pipes leading to water areas with enemies somewhere in worlds 6-7. Or was it 5?

Yay for Super Metroid! I'm surprised people want to see the animals rescued. I'm all for letting them burn. Anyway I'll watch this later and vote after that.

Great WIP. The only thing I was left wondering was if Dustman could have been manipulated into not jumping so you could always hit him as soon as he stops blinking.

Does anyone know if this game has warps? The author refers to them in his submission but I'm not sure. I'm asking because I would like to add "does not use warps" to the category list if there indeed are warps in this game.

Do you have any plans to continue this? The movie looks great, although I remember you saying something about one-rounding Spore Spawn. Have you discovered it afterwards or did you find out it wasn't possible? It sure doesn't seem possible because you can barely get 5 missiles in, let alone 10.

Are there any spots in particular where you need a partner? What I'm asking is, why do you need someone else to do it with you?

Okay, I finally got around to adding the header to my ROM so that I could play this game. I played through the game and watched the run and was really amazed! As far as entertainment goes, this run is definitely worth publishing. It uses lots of cool tricks, even if it doesn't use the arm pumping and saves the animals in the end. The route used was also extremely cool and inventive. The run is pretty high quality, but most of all the game is incredible for a TAS. It's very sequence break and shinespark friendly.

We don't need a peach-only run, even if a new version was made utilizing all possible tricks.

I'm with you on removing the peach-only run.

I don't think it's fair to vote no because this is an obvious improvement to the previous run. Even if this run can be improved, it would still obsolete a run that could be improved even more.

Yes it is. And it's good, too, because if people went on deleting earlier posts it would make the thread unreadable.

You're right. The damage taken in this movie is probably pretty unoptimized. That's because I really didn't know anything about this game when I started. If I were to remake this movie, I would take care not to get hit in places where it's not absolutely necessary.
