The reason is so he doesn't die.

I've been following this since it was Mew slaying everything in sight. :) Glad to see such a fine outcome, here's a Yes!

Yay, encouragement! 1-5 is now finished. This level annoyed me intensely! At least the next one will be 'easy', it's an autoscroller... Edit: Oh crap, I just realised I made a REALLY stupid route decision on 1-3 in the triangle key room. Edit 2: I might be able to grab a bit more momentum on 1-4 also. Grr! Edit 3: Fixed the mistake on 1-3, haven't uploaded a new video yet though. It's 96 frames improvement, haha... next update will be 1-6 done and 1-4 improved a bit too. Edit 4: I haven't given up. There's version 11. 1-7 and the first boss to come soonish.

Slick! I also thought the current movie was pretty optimal. Guess I'm dumb! Nice mucking around at the bosses, too. :)

That escape sequence was just... too long. The creator should have paid more attention to how long the music is. Some interesting parts to this hack, definitely! Some bits made me go "wow", others "god that's mean".

How about we call them NEOWMs? Or WHIZZes? Then we can backronym it later.

A bit off-topic here, but flagitious, what does that horrifying C code in your sig do?
It prints pi to a fair few places. As for the run, great work! One question so far for Erim; isn't it slower to wait for the Doom Fist part of the Vargas battle to blow over than to skip it like Catastrophe did?

DK, your link doesn't work because it has [!] in it. Use HTML instead. :) Edit: Yes it works now.

It's okay, I prefer bold or italics to emphasise things. Also, snap judgement is a baaaad thing. At SDA we have a rule that only allows 'commercial' games, but I can't find a similar rule here. I guess it's more up to staff to decide on this one. If the game is as free-ranging as you say, and not autoscrolling, then it's definitely a good candidate.

IT might be COMPARABLE to the GRADIUS movie which IS already here. I'm not sure IF ANYBODY would be WILLING TO WATCH another one of those dodge-fests, UNLESS THERE ARE many INTERESTING GLITCHES TO BE abused.

It only works if I have Raw Data off. Looks very nice so far, though. Oh, actually desynced much later; after getting into the castle.

Huh, only because people don't use Python. More Python programmers! It's
import cgi
cgi.FieldStorage()['fieldname'].value
in Python, for your reference. FieldStorage() returns a dictionary-like object with which many values can be read at once.

Back when I started playing Subspace (1998) I was on a 28k8 modem connection. After playing for a couple of weeks and receiving all manner of complaints about lag, I decided to take it one step further and name myself after it. Now I'm Lag.Com or LagDotCom just about everywhere, except Subspace where I lost the password to my name, where I'm just TildeStar.

Yeah, VLC uses its own codecs for everything doesn't it? Perhaps they're a bit out of date.

About your unable to load savestates thing; I know that different regions of the same game often don't read each other's savedata. A friend of mine brought along her PS2 memory card to my house (she lives in America) and plugged it into my PS2. It read fine. I shoved in my copy of FFIX (Euro), and it couldn't find my friend's FFIX (USA) save. So yeah. That was your problem. :)

Ugh, I was just suggesting it as a way to cut down the number of useless calls. I never claimed it was a panacea.

I'm pretty sure it would be smart enough not to preload links which call scripts (or anything with ? specifiers in them). Of course, I'm only 'pretty' sure. If I wrote that functionality, I'd make sure that was part of it. Besides, power to the user, right? Who cares about service providers?

You might run into problems with SMB though because of multiple routes. I know that was just an example. :)

Because the poll asks everyone. If I only watched movies for games I've played and liked, I would have watched hardly any movies here. I've never been a huge console player.

That bit isn't hex-editing, it's viewing the contents of the cartridge and console memory. If you can find related values in memory it will help your run a lot. For example for mine I've found the exact X and Y positions of my character, which helps for positioning.
