I don't want to be the constant looming negativity in this thread but I need to say by watching your TASing technique, and the fact that your latest WIP (which is 30 minutes of gameplay) took you a day to make and only used 1277 re-records, that I call tell you that this TAS is not up to the standards of this website and will most likely not be accepted upon submission, if that is your expectation. Your aiming during the game is constantly jerking around, showing that you are not optimizing your inputs very well, and your pathing angles (which are paramount in any game) are sometimes wide and not thought-out. At 10:52 in your first WIP you even begin to briefly turn to the right to go down a hall but then change your mind and turn left which shows your are not planning ahead and are leaving in mistakes, which TASes are intended to be void of. The overall feel I get of the TAS so far is that of a good playthrough with above average aiming, but not an optimized or well-planned speedrun. I'm not telling you that you should give up on the TAS, but if your goal is to submit to this site you may want to chalk it up as good practice for a more optimized product later.
It's not for submission, it's just to get material out there.

So are you having problems only with certain games? I literally have the same problem with Super Street Fighter II Turbo, generally desyncs when playback the file but according to my tests and what was already said in the support this may be caused by game choice or by the emulator. In my case as example the problem was the game choice, SSF2X doesn't work fully because some characters desyncs than other, my conclusions was both for emulator and game. But I would suggest what I've already said on Youtube comment and putting the compatibility on the fba.exe to winxp sp3 or win7, seriously this solve some problems with FBA in some games while I was having some troubles trying some certain games to work. *edit: I'd suggest to try running and doing some movie tests on another FBA versions to take more knowledge of what are happening.
Glad to see you came over from the YT comments. Put it into xp sp3 mode and doesn't really make a difference other than sometimes states load a bit faster. Replaying with other versions doesn't seem to matter either. Maybe I'm just super unlucky.

It's possible but would there really be anything to get out of it?

I don't intend to. I just used it to make sure that Dolphin wouldn't fuck up on me again after talking to some of the IRC guys.

Nothing about that looked TAS'd but this also has nothing to do with the main gameplay... so let us see what you've got by TASing the story. I would look into the Timesplitters speedrunning community, specifically the forum on Speedrun.com to get advice on all the best strats. "JangBang" seems to be the best current player: http://www.speedrun.com/ts3#Hard_Anypc , perhaps try contacting him and studying his latest runs.
Trust me if you play the cat racing minigame you'll understand just how TAS'd that really is. Worst driving in any game ever. Also, I'll look into it, thank you for the link! I am going for a no skips run though, as most single player runs abuse major map skips. (Skipping Deer Haunter and most of 1994 for example)

So now that I've gotten Dolphin to work I've decided to revisit one of my favorite games of all time. It's a fairly linear game, with plenty of action and tons of weird challenges with varied gameplay to mess around with. As a proof of concept I went ahead and recorded the "Pussy Racing" challenges before going through the main game. http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/28156728977999833 Link to video

Right, well obviously you guys dislike the sound glitch. I figured that due to the frame saves and the smoother gameplay it would be preferred but obviously I was wrong. I'll make sure to not repeat the same mistake down the road.

But that means it isn't a speed/entertainment tradeoff. It is the correct choice for aiming for fastest time. What speed/entertainment tradeoffs are there?
The fact that there's no music would be the most obvious. That and on the final race I deliberately wreck and run across the finish line to in rather than race properly. edit: Went ahead and removed / cleaned up some of the desc info at the advice of some of the IRC guys.

I was under the impression that killing the sound saved time, by making the game less laggy.
It does specifically when taking turns. Aside from that and loading screens there isn't much benefit.

Believe it or not, aside from the few stunts and inputting my name, this run is actually fairly optimized. I wouldn't mind redoing it in a month or two but I'm pretty burnt out from it at the moment. I'll probably get it published and work on a faster version using the promotional speed cheat that takes you to 220 mph +.

As I get closer to finishing the TAS, would you guys like for me to include the "no bike" bug in the game? It's where you are knocked off your bike by oncoming traffic, and then traffic basically steals your car as the bike is pushed forever and ever. It would ruin the race but it would look pretty funny. Neat game. It reminds me of Skitchin', since both games were made by EA and they clearly are cousins of one another. Two quick questions though: 1) Is it possible to get first place in the first race? It seems a shame that the best a TAS can do is second place. 2) In Skitchin', you get a substantial speed boost (~10 units, with 125 being max speed) when you perform a trick off of a ramp. Is that the case here as well? I notice you didn't use ramps much, but in the one instance I caught, your speedometer didn't increase. Still, you'll want to verify that you don't get a speed boost by looking at the RAM.
1) Some races are unbeatable without upgrading your equipment, even if the next few races afterwards you take first. It's just how the game is laid out and I'd rather have equipment that will let me win more races on-wards then sticking to cheaper equipment and draining my funds for one race. 2) There are NO tricks in this game. I only use ramps to either get around traffic or to make the race finishes look cooler. In fact, once you have a bike that can hit 170, you don't even want to go on a ramp at all, or even a hill for that matter because wind resistance starts to really take a toll on you. As soon as you're in the air, you begin to lose speed.

I'm interested in this project as well. Though I would say that losing music to save a couple frames seems not a worthwhile trade off.
Well the music also causes slowdown on tight turns for whatever reason. Once I get to the final set of races I'll reenable it since you can fix the glitch by mashing start at a few correct frames.

So apparently nobodies ever done a TAS of this game. Ever. It's been on my mind for a while now that I would love to TAS this game, since I grew up with it years back and still enjoy picking it up today. Over the past 3 days I've been working on a TAS and it's around 1/3 completed. It is going for good times, no crashes, minimal losses of speed and no arrests. It also abuses a helpful little glitch I found that causes the game to stop playing sound, which saves about 2 frames every loading screen. Here's the current WIP of my run: http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/28082734745900161
