I'm not so knowledgeable about Zelda MM but this seems like it would save quite some time. Nice find!

I just remembered that the NES MM1 runs had been granted an emulator modification for those flickering magnet beams (?) for better watching. There may possibly be someone who's willing to create an emulator modification for M&L... just an idea...

So about my sprite flickering issue... I uploaded a vid for reference: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AkmClqbE8xc And if someone doesn't have this problem, please tell me! I don't think this has anything to do with my PC's specifications or emulator settings... (I didn't touch any settings but the input configuration and hotkeys.) I tried messing around with all the settings in VBA, but the problem remains. And... is there any progress going regarding M&L TASing?

-Snes9x works -VBA works -Mupen works -Haven't tried FCEU -Desmume 0.9 doesn't work
And I wanted to TAS Kirby SqSq one day :( Mupen doesn't matter. VBA, snes9x and fceu should work.

I used Windows XP up till now. As my PC gets older, I was planning on buying a new one but there's almost only Windows Vista out there these days. Now I'd like to know if you can TAS with Vista, or if there are known problems. Thanks in advance!

I was trying to beat the boss endurance record these days and I think 3:04 is possible. I managed to save ~20 frames, but cannot finish the movie due to serious luck-manipulation problems at Dedede. He mustn't do any sucking or jumping moves for 10 consecutive hits. I'm posting the unfinished movie here now, maybe someone else succeeds in the future. unfinished movie 3:05 record at nicovideo I used the japanese ROM since the predecessor did as well, and I didn't want any damage differences and such issues...

So this thread is about getting people to TAS? Well I think, either you are interested in TASing and want it to be your hobby or not. A friend of mine was TASing for a short while (some game I can't remember the name of and Yoshi's tupsy turvy) but only to figure out how it is like. He says it's not really his cup of tea, but he has still fun watching TAS videos... Someone else asked me to teach him about TASing as well, recently. But he lost interest quickly, as he couldn't handle the need for patience which you need when you are TASing.

Great run! I was looking forward to this, but didn't expect such a large improvement. Gj :)

*ladder glitch talk* We're worried whether we should use it. Please give us your opinions or comments.
I'd have to say, while it appears it could bring about some neat effects, as far as entertaining gameplay I'd have to say no. Though if it were meant to be a speed run and it saved a notable amount of time, then yes.
It is banned since it appears to be an emulator glitch.

This movie was particularly interesting, since I played the crappy Gameboy version. The levels resemble 1:1. Good job.

Any possibility to sacrifice one's limbs for cushioning the fall to protect the vital parts of the body?
That's why I wrote "completely unharmed" :) Somehow, all the momentum would have to be released, without damaging the body. In some games, after falling from a high distance, you can roll to lower the damage you took. (It's applicable in reality I think.) As for survived falls: Are there any that do not involve pillow factories or bushes?

I was thinking about something similar before. How long would it take to cross a country or get from city A to city B without using vehicles or planes, if you were "TAS'd"? Could you survive a fall from 1000m and be completely unharmed afterwards?

but we are playing the original, unedited game. There is no invincibility, no editing of hit boxes (making them unable to be hit, for example)
The Adventure TAS is not cheated that way. It just cannot be verified. That's the main difference between the Adventure TAS and regular TASes.

Yeah, it's not a matter of difficulty here. It's a matter of how fast enemies are beaten.

The current run does not ever attack anything with Missile that has enough HP to make a difference. So I don't see any reason why any follow-up movie shouldn't use the English version. Perhaps there are other version differences (less lag, etc.), but unless a new run actually attacks bosses or tough enemies with Missile (unlikely), the claim that attacks are stronger isn't valid.
Hm I was always under the impression that the Japanese version has bosses with less HP or all attacks have more AP... Good thing you investigated this. About the 100% run: I can't say for sure if Missile is of use since I create the route while making the movie, but there are some spots where it will be probably. I really can't say much other than it shouldn't be that much of a matter which game version is being used. It's only the ending that is written in Japanese which is the only negative difference between the versions. I apologize if people are angry about it, but I can't just start from scratch now. About the any% run: Atm, I only remember a spot in a very old WIP of mine in which I attempted to fly through a passage with Missile, and 2 Sparkies and a Sword Knight were blocking the way (in Candy Constellations). I had to boost Missile an additional time in the English version than in the Japanese version (This is not the case in the current run, though). But you see, it's not only a matter of boss fights alone. Maybe, I'll take a look at game differences later, too.

As far as I know, Pokemon yellow and Monopoly can be improved. (This submission was cancelled - atm I can't find the statement about possible improvements in Pokemon Yellow, but I'm sure it was said to be improvable by a few frames.)

While you're at it, could you please update missing information on other videos you uploaded? Like the completion time, definition of TAS, run objectives etc.

Just wanted to let you know that an 'all gold-medals'-run is being worked on.
