I think the moonwalking trick was a bit overused. Otherwise a cool run.

Hello smns72. Today, I found this forum: http://bb2.atbb.jp/tas/viewtopic.php?t=9 But as posts from foreign countries are blocked, I'm forced to post it here instead. edit: thanks gocha.
But result was the phenomenon that resembled "snes9x v1.51".
Game crashes on v1.51.
I've already finished Dynablade in 4:06.13 (at reset).
If you don't mind, can you PM me the SMV for comparison? Or is it just the old run hex-edited into a new file?

Maybe Mario was in a glitched state and that's why he didn't enter his swimming animation. This idea hasn't been brought up yet, I think.

You should use quotation marks (like this: "Monster party" instead of Monster Party, otherwise it searches for both words seperately.)

Well, movies uploaded prior to the change seem still accessible, so everything is fine.

Why is it down? And more importantly, will it be working again some day?

I have another idea. Why not put a big annotation in the beginning of each video that links to a video that explains what TASes are?
What about closing the comments if the comments are problematic ?
People wouldn't stop thinking that TASes are cheat or console-videos.

Aside from many "cheater!"-comments, I also came across many "you're quite skilled"-comments as well. Many people don't know what tool-assisted speedruns or superplays actually are and the pointer to this page (if there is one) is mostly overlooked. Since the video descriptions are ignored as well, I think videos need more descriptions in them that explain how they are actually made. (Like what are savestates, what is actually meant by slowing down the game etc) On the other hand, it can get quite complicated...

I wonder if it will work on VBA 20?
VBA20 is not recommended due to desync problems. You should use VBA 19 instead.

I tested this game once, and there's some left/right glitch with the barrels (I think) that makes you stand in midair. But I don't know if it can be of use. I lost my own attempt some time ago, unfortunately...

Lol, that's one nice easter egg! I'm pleased with the rating system as it is now.

I'm against using SRAM here where certain values were boosted to the maximum, so this doesn't impress me at all.

I found it quite interesting, but the cutscenes are so long they ruin the actual movie...

I've really had a hard time in terms of deciding whether I should use reset or not. Same with the game order... As I finished SpringBreeze now, I came to the conclusion that I will, despite of your advice and ideas, not use reset and I'm most likely going to play DynaBlade after GourmetRace. I'm not good at writing long and good posts, and I don't have the time, so I'll just post my thoughts like this. Reset + Saves some seconds plus 3 minutes of MWW credits - imo, takes away from entertainment - skips the MWW credits (which are, imo, wonderful and I want to include them) No reset + MWW credits that I definitely want to include. This should be the actual end of the whole run. And as I said, the Arena should just be a bonus. It's a shame the Arena counts to the 100%, but since I'm going for these 100% and want to include the MWW credits so badly I see myself forced to do the 'no reset'-run. If someone does not want to see those credits, then he should just skip them or something. I don't think it's that much of a matter... - loses some few seconds (but it doesn't abruptly interrupt the playing) About the order: I concluded, it would be more entertaining to play DynaBlade first, instead of GCO. In DynaBlade, the fire ability is not needed and the longer it remains an unknown feature that noone would have thought of (the TAS watchers that don't know about the up+down glitches), the better. And, imo, the GCO is much more entertaining to watch than DynaBlade; So I figured, this would make for a better balance of suspense (If this sentence made any sense...). I don't want the entertainment to decrease during the run. Sorry guys. I think I shouldn't have asked for feedback on these two things in the first place. (edit: btw, I'm done with GourmetRace now. -> I saved ~51 frames in SpringBreeze if this would be a reset-run (now, smns72 is 5 seconds ahead in his WIP). -> In GourmetRace #3, I improved smns72's version (6:52?) by using persona's 6:42-strat (I think it was him). No WIP this time, sorry.)

I still don't see the point of doing the arena. You're just going to use the same Wheelie Rider strategy that's used throughout the rest of the run, leading to a much more anticlimatic ending to the run. Remember, entertainment is almost as (if not more) important than speed. Unless the arena goes for in-game time rather than real-time, in which case it gets much more interesting and varied. But that would make timing hard -- real time until final hit on Marx, and then lowest arena in-game time? Might as well split them into two runs then. If going for real time, the only real competition I can see for Wheelie Rider would be a Stone + TAC combo. Even then, the time lost from manually running to bosses like Computer Virus & Wham Bam Rock, not to mention Meta Knight's sword pickup requiring luck manipulation to get Stone after the fight, makes the race seem uneven.
Yeah, personally, I'd like to leave the Arena unplayed but that's not allowed. (I'm aiming for 100% of the game.) It'll take some time until I'm attempting this game mode, though. @Comicalflop: Do you think resetting alone would justify obsoletion? If I went for a reset-run, there would be some problems. -> There will be some sections later in the run, where reset would also save some time. But I'm unfamiliar with the game - I never played this game on console. -> It skips the credits (it lasts for 'only' 3 minutes)! Imo, this should be the ending of the actual run. The Arena should just be a bonus for those who want to watch! (Why do I ask for feedback on my ideas if I keep at them anyway...)

Unlike in smns72's movie, I'm not going to reset in the whole run. I can't stand when the screen gets black all of a sudden, it feels like all the excitement is gone for a while... In this way, we can enjoy the MilkyWayWishes credits (I'd really like to include this) because reset is banned. After the credits, the run would just go through the last remaining game mode, the Arena, quickly. The run would then be finished. Are you guys agreeing? edit: Almost forgot to ask... In what order should the games be played? After SpringBreeze and GourmetRace, should I go on with GreatCaveOffensive? Or sacrifice one frame in the selection menu to keep the traditional order and play DynaBlade, then Metaknight's Revenge first?

ROMs are often named "game name + (U) or (J) or (E) + [!] or or [o]..." (U) = USA (J) = Japan (E) = Europe [!] = verified good dump = bad dump [o] = overdump there are more labels but this is just a short summary

Are you sure, the stache value raises damage given by lucky hits and not only the frequency? If it does, it's probably only a matter of some few damage points anyway, so I wouldn't improve the stache value. (On the other hand, it increases money you sell things for. The SDA run does this later in the game.) Btw, I remember a glitch I encountered when I was playing Mario + Luigi back then. I was messing around with the walls behind the throne in Bowser's Castle. And suddenly, I was beamed up till the top of the screen. If this could be reproduced anywhere, it could allow for some sequence breaks (for example, to enter the final room directly, without having to fight all the Bowser kids.) Or maybe, it just works with the bulges in the walls... I'm looking forward to WIPs.
