Found it by searching on GameFAQs. The name was "Mogura de Pon".

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that it doesn't change the success rate of catching Pokemon. Whether you catch a Pokemon is determined when you press the button to throw the pokeball. I'm not so sure though. EDIT: http://glitchcity.info/docs/myths The last part.

When I saw the GBA topic, I remembered there was also an old gameboy port. I find it more challenging so I gave it a shot. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/264770762/gb%20lr%20mugg.vbm (UPDATE: levels 1 - 7) (The spots the enemies reappear at can be manipulated better in the first few levels) It's a rather long game (50 levels) and I didn't decide yet whether this is a serious attempt or just a demo. It's probably another game I'll never finish like GB kungfu master or the smurfs improvement (because I get stuck somewhere) >_< Let's wait and see.. Comments appreciated, as always.

Don't know, but isn't there also GTA? Imagine, you could always manipulate the fastest car, have perfect control, could defeat enemies and cars with one hit.. I'd be interested in such a speedrun (I already watched the one on sda).

There's a gameboy game I don't know the game of. You had to hit guys that appeared from the holes with a hammer, similar to this: There were nine holes in three lines and you were in the middle. Levels lasted ~1 minute. Stuff that appeared from the holes were animals like crabs, bears and moles.. the level design changed between the levels (there is a forest design, a beach design, a grassland one..). There are dialogues between the levels. The final level was a boxing ring with a mole that appeared only for 0,3 sec. The game was Japanese, and I only know it from a game collection cartridge which mostly included Japanese and US-only games. EDIT: No, you weren't in the middle of the nine holes. Rather, the middle spot was the default spot which was hit when you don't press any arrow buttons.

By ducking 8 frames after you gained running speed and releasing another 8 frames and repeating, you save ~1 frame (~1 pixel). Level 1 without time-saver Level 1 with time-saver (~0.9 sec saved) (J) ROM used. Unfortunately another time-saver which takes away from entertainment..

1. When I just checked that out, it appeared to be improvable by 6 frames..

For the people voting Meh, could you please explain your choice? Otherwise, it just seems mean. I don't understand the reason for a Meh vote. If you feel Meh about a video, you should just abstain.
Sorry, I was going to write comments last evening, but forgot it. I played the gameboy version, so I knew what to expect. I liked it overall but there are some negative aspects with this run which then led me to voting meh. For example, I don't like the 'variety' in this run. All the levels are basically the same. And I didn't like the nonexistent complete-screen (I generally dislike runs of such games somewhat). Therefore I voted meh, leaning towards yes. :) (btw, the gameboy version has an ending screen afaik)

Did you try to reset the game to skip the cut scenes?

http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/956819996/mario%204-3%20strat3.fcm I think the way I did it is the best. But still, I think it won't work. No matter where you gain the extra jump in the air you can't reach the edge.

I think the AVI which shows the pressed buttons should be provided seperately.

Ah, now I get it. But it seems you can't reach the shell on this route either. :/ Ok, new idea: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1859312709/mario%20bros%204-3%20walk%20idea.fcm Maybe you can just 'zip' through that mushroom platform that blocks your way.

This was my most recent idea, and then I tried doing it by hitting the shell from the top of the screen. You know how it loops up and down?
Sorry, but I didn't quite understand your sentence. ^^' Can you rephrase it please?

http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/671971674/mario%20bros%204-3%20walk%20almost.fcm By jumping backwards into any object Mario can gain some distance without screen scrolling. I mixed this with the turning around faster trick (pressing left/right one frame) for maximum distance. My plan was to use the first small pit right in the beginning for the koopa in air trick. But it's another failed attempt...

Doesn't this game support tilting the GBA? So, how did you implement it in VBA, by patching the ROM or with a plug-in?

Nice movie, although I mostly watched the input animations of it. ;) Definite yes vote. And I was wondering, why is the so-called 1/1 swimming faster than normal swimming?

I thought this couldn't be done due to a problem with the VBA BIOS or something? GSGold attempted a completion run a few times, but VBA would always crash in the Desert area where you have to escort Peach.
Really? I though there was only this issue but as far as I know it's just an emulator bug from VBA 18. Can anyone confirm this? Also, I hate that sprites flicker on the emulator...

No, I glitched into a wall next to the ladder, not underneath it. I was in the position in the screenshot (not hard to get there). I crawled towards the ladder, stopped. Then I tottered in place (not moving) while slowly falling. I wasn't able to reproduce it the last evening, so I think it may have to do with subpixel positions. I could try to do it again today. EDIT: Not quite how I experienced it first, but could be a special case after all. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/105104110/ladder%20stuff.vbm EDIT2: And this is a weird glitch that happened because of the dialogues, useless and I uploaded it just for fun. Notice how the character's position changes because of her animation. Interesting ... http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/159594031/glitchyness.vbm

Nice find. I don't know if this is useful, but as I randomly tested stuff hoping to find new useful glitches I glitched into a wall* from a ladder (though, I believe the ladder didn't matter in this case, rather did a ledge). Unfortunately, I didn't record it. Good luck with future findings. __________________ * not just glitched into it but through it.
