With a decent computer, DS emulation is plenty good as for the mic, most people have a mic on their computer so the emulators should be able use that for mic emulation and implanting that in recording will probablly follow too.
Will that work with frame advance?

Quite hard to make a movie considering it can be obsolete in the making of it. Well, I'm watching it right now and post my comments then. Getting jet ability surprised me as the whole situation was quite laggy. Here's my current progress: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/845494041/kss-jap-mugg-tas.smv (It's actually to soon for a new wip but I feel like posting this.) It seems my times in each room didn't get obsolete overall^^ Good job, though. I'll use the new movie for comparision now.

My channel contains videos of various games. Most videos are kirby-related, though. You may change 'SSBM' to 'various / others' or something... Also, nice topic. Nice to check out other users' profiles :D

http://www.themushroomkingdom.net/m&lss_j-e.shtml Mh everytime I research for a game, it seems that the Japanese version always has some advantage over the other versions. Weird... E: I just noticed the surprising differences in the item section. Well, there's no real difference as for which version to pick for TASing anyway, because health isn't a matter. But it's nice to know there's a heart block in the Japanese version =) E²: Item's prizes are higher in the Japanese version (note that the current SDA run sells all items it collected up till then in order to get ... special clothes?). I think, all in all, it doesn't warrant TASing the Japanese version. All the text and the ending credits would be Japanese <.< What a contrast...

Ah and I was actually thinking, the game didn't load that section because Kirby was too fast... ^^

I have actually trouble finding a HP memory address. Before attacking a monster, I start a cheat search, then fool around and search for equal values since the HP shouldn't have changed. Then I attack the monster a few times, and search for lower values. I repeat this step but there often already are no values anymore at this point :( Even if I straightly kill the enemy and search for values equal 0, it's no use... Any suggestions? What data size do HP addresses have usually (in my case it takes like 100 hits to kill an enemy, so I ran many tests in the 16 bits area...

Ness and Kirby were improved to still-not-as-good-as-in-the-first-game-but-now-playable.
The games aren't comparable anyway. Brawl is indeed funny, but competitive playing sucks! (It's not as cool as it is with Melee)

I don't quite know the game, but maybe the 4th world is skipable?

You slowed down for a gumba again. Why?

The first TAS I've ever seen was Super Mario World in 10:30. I was just fascinated by how cool and fast they are and searched for more. When I wasn't able to find a TAS of Super Mario Land 2, one of my all time favourites I lurked in the forums and finally posted a message. Soon after, I got an emulator, a movie file and the ROM. I started the emulator, loaded the ROM and watched the movie file. Since the screen was too small I enlarged it. However it ran slower since then. I had my fun with trying out everything the emulator could offer shortly after. I actually even tried TASing the game (though, the outcome wasn't good of course). I find funny how I didn't know about the savegame feature till frame 40.000. I only used the "continue from here" function. Oh well...

While you're at it, please wobble less (I hope you know what I mean).

[>_> deleted my large post by accident. I'll sum up] As far as I can remember, you suspected exhaling puffes of air gives you a momentum boost. It was, however, slower. While I was at it I ran some more testings and soon found out sliding wasn't that much faster than running (- then again jumping is faster than running...) In fact, when I saw Zefiris way of moving, I ran a few tests and kept it in without further thoughts. So sliding is only faster if it gets cancelled by a ledge. Btw, I'll probably post a list with possible improvements soon. (maybe) @ Floogal: Since it is the American version your list is based on it's rather useless since you can deal more damage on the [J] version. Thanks though.

I once started making an improvement to my Kirby Amazing Mirror run. To cut a long story short, here are two versions: (1.7.2 Rerecording v19.3 ; Japanese ROM version) http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1201756072/TASKAM-MUGG2.vbm This was the first improvement version. It is about 5 seconds ahead of the currently published run. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1598506337/MUGG-KAM%20v3.vbm Some time after, Comicalflop and I had a talk on IRC concerning the basic ground movement strategies (and came to the conclusion that jumping all the time / avoiding the floor is faster than sliding). This second version is about 30 frames ahead of the first version. I won't continue working on this project until I finish Kirby Super Star, and even then I don't know whether there's enough motivation.I'm posting these versions for everyone interested or those who plan to obsolete my run.

As far as I know, the timing for walljumping is 1 frame, isn't it?

Neither. They both use the wrong strategy (?) and are too unoptimized. Get the mushroom as in my demo, jump over the pipes and slow down (press left) as less as possible. I suspect you just slowed down without any further thoughts. Try out different ways and minimize the frames you need to press left before pressing left/right again.

You don't need the shell. You can just jump over the pipes (as I did in the demo) and slow down at the bricks to avoid collision.

Looks much better now. About the mushroom, I made a short demo movie: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1309436950/SMB3_SMAS_100_Demo.smv You just need to find out the right timing for when to switch to one direction only. (And you obviously need to know all the tricks available in the game. It is possible to get the mushroom when it's still in the block for example) Keep at it, though.

Awesome run! What's up with the 1-up sounds at frame 8500? =)

Pointers for you: - Don't slow down. If you collide with a wall or ... other undesired things happened then go back and correct it. - Make high quality movies. Many TASers spend hours and hours for a single spot in a level whereas you seem to rush through the worlds... Be patient. The more you worked on your movie the better it gets recognized afterwards. - Make use of savestates. - For the intro use frame advance and press A one frame and start one frame. This is a common technique that saves time if you don't want to find out the earliest possible frame to press start (or other buttons) on. - Remember you are aiming for the fastest time. Don't spend time on stomping gumbas if it slows you down. But try to do so without losing time, if possible. You just need to make the quality you make movies with better. So, I'm looking forward to a new version :) But please take some more time now.

Maybe your movie file's default setting was that Left+Right is off. When playing back and editing the movie, do what I mentioned above. Otherwise I have no idea...

I'd suggest all levels and nothing else. All whistles + all levels + coinships but no mushroom houses or something sounds a bit vague to me.

Cool run. I did like it so I gave it a Yes. However, I liked the previous movie more, mainly because of the more awesome Ghost and Bowser boss fights it offered than this one did.
