Needless to say for me as a Scootaloo fan, today's episode was the biggest treat ever.
Pleased me on so many levels - I should mention I've been reading fanfics and so many things I read were, you could say, remixed into this one episode.
Just epic, and quite sad that was probably the best thing I was looking forward to this season and now it's over.

Thanks for the help.
I successfully encoded and uploaded my video, with the correct colors and no issues.
I modified the tasvideos AVS to remove the deblinking and tasblend (because I think it makes things look ugly) and I output in 720p. I changed the BAT to be --qp 10 instead of 0 to minimize the file size a bit.

The video I linked in my previous post is what happened when I really gave it a lossless unchanged AVI.
Everything prior to that, I used the said spliced file. I used avisynth to pointresize it and compressed it to Lagarith in virtualdub.
I need to figure out how I can make the video that I originally wanted to make, by changing the tasvideos scripts around...
At best, someone can point out why the color turned out correct in the linked video so I can just make use of that alone - without having to touch long complicated scripts.

Ilari: Thanks, this clears up a lot of things.
feos: I dumped it uncompressed. But when I experienced the memory leak and couldn't encode the video, I decided to splice all the video parts into one and compressed it with Lagarith. Probably it doesn't work well with the tasvideos guide scripts?
In a crappy* test, using option 4 of the tasvideos encoding script (Youtube HD), I got this outcome:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=78E0X0JINdU
Luigi's green color is as bright as it should be. So, why didn't Youtube mess up the color in this video?
____
*the video seems to be lagging for me, probably because I'm watching too many livestreams

Hello.
I cannot check my PMs currently but are you the same person who contacted me about this very thing?
The TAS never gets Thunderhand. Fights take a few minutes but getting the Hand probably takes 2 to 3 minutes. Hardly imaginable that it saves time..
E/ themushroomkingdom says Hammerbro has 130 DEF and Boo has 1000 DEF. In your video it looks like you assume both had the same DEF. Someone should look into the memory to see how the enemies' DEF behaves during battle.
E// (I should have watched the whole video lol.)

-- Using the tasvideos encoding guide's scripts:
I would still like to know why I cannot encode 512 or HD Youtube. How can I prevent those "run out of memory" messages?
Perhaps I should use it with a raw video taken from the emulator rather than this 720p lagarith file.
-- Audio missing
For now I suspect it's some error in my avs or something. I'm busy, can't check it right now.
EDIT: I can't find the problem. When the avs is opened in vdub, the audio is there. But after encoding it with x264, the audio is mute.
EDIT: The 32bit x264 that Guga linked here does not produce any audio. I don't know why I didn't figure this out earlier. So I'm going to stick to the x264 I had.
-- Youtube messes up the color regardless
That's too bad... Does it also mess up the color if it is encoded with the tasvideos' guide's scripts?
-- File size minimizing
I will try.

This seems to prevent x264 from running out of memory. But it doesn't fix the darkened color mentioned here. Also the resulting mp4 would be a little over 1 GB which is borderline ok (I have yet to encode the full video). I wish it were closer to 700 MB or less.
EDIT:
The video is 1.78 GB which is not ok anymore. And It doesn't have any sound for some reason.
Do you know how to fix the dark color?
Thanks for the help so far.

I don't understand any of this.
Please explain it to me like I'm five.
In the meantime, I got the package from here. But neither the 512kb option nor the Youtube HD option works.
When I tried the 512kb option, I got an error saying that it wants zlib1.dll, so I grabbed it from the previous folder. Then I got these:

This was initially posted in "ask a question get an answer" but I felt it needed to be posted in a new topic now.
It turned out that videos encoded with the settings shown in the encode.bat would glitch out on Youtube. See this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YFNJAAgkcqM
(The video was dumped uncompressed RGB24, then I compressed it in lagarith lossless, and then I encoded it with x264).
I'm worried about the loss of brightness in Luigi's green color.
See here: https://twitter.com/mugg1991/status/273695358096379904/photo/1 (Lagarith lossless actually keeps it bright as in the original, it seems)
So now I have already run out of options. I can't encode the video and keep Luigi's color bright at the same time. The '--output-csp rgb' made it so it keeps bright, but it somehow causes Youtube to glitch. What now?
I hope someone can help...

SB used magic at 2:01 and I'm a bit surprised somefans predicted the color correctly. Did I miss something or did the show runners copy the fanarts' color?
I loved this episode btw

The TAS is finished. Pirohiko and I are working on a visualisation to display the brothers' stats, their abilities and current selected action icon IDs, the # of uses of bros attacks (until they learn Advanced versions), Enemy stats, items, coins, timer, along with the TAS. The video is going to be published in Youtube and nicovideo.
At a much later time, I consider submitting it here but that is for me to decide yet.

On the topic of Japanese nicovideo users uploading others' TASes to nicovideo -- One person has contacted me, calling this problem's topic "Reproduction". Also, about copyright.
- Usually they freely upload anything that was submitted to TASvideos (submitting makes it Creative Commons 2.0 material -- anyone can spread it if they give credit).
- Sometimes, a few people upload videos from Youtube to nicovideo that weren't previously submitted here. I have read that videos uploaded to Youtube also become Creative Commons 2.0 material, but ... apparently not really? I have seen someone upload one of my videos to nicovideo without my permission, and he was told off in the scrolling comments (i.e. "You didn't get permission, why did you upload this, remove this, do you not have any respect").
And I believe you cannot simply reupload random Youtube videos to your own channel (can you? I haven't done the research, but I believe Youtube will simply remove duplicate uploads? -- it also has some counter-measures preventing you from uploading the exact same file twice; it can detect certain audio tracks...).
Anyway.. somehow, uploading to Youtube makes it different from uploading to Tasvideos.
If it isn't the CC license, is it the TASvideos policies which everyone abides by?
- Lastly, and just as a side note, I was disappointed that my latest Kirby & The Amazing Mirror TAS has only reached 2,000 views on Youtube. The point of waiting a month for submission wasn't that the nicovideo upload reaches 130,000 in the end. I had hoped waiting will mean the Youtube video gets more attention.
I guess the reason behind it is the whole nicovideo community hasn't been following my Youtube activity and simply didn't know the video has been out for over a month. It just disappoints me -- I wish my Youtube videos get that many views, not the nicovideo uploads by independent people.
I do not know if I should keep on putting these "Do not upload to nicovideo" notes in my videos or not.

jlun2, no offense but your (and a few others') posting behavior is annoying me. Please stop spreading the note about me wanting to make money off my TASes. It is true, but you keep on repeating it over and over so it is getting annoying.
My posting here shall not entail my "return". I'm not going to submit my future videos to the site for reasons that I may someday explain in greater detail.

I added a ton of notes in one of my previous posts and I figured out a good route. And I don't have to forfeit part of my WIP if I accept a ~1 second loss, which is negligible. I should be making good progress soon
