Which 2 runs? The 42 second one is the only one that uses this glitch that always jumps to open bus. The 10 minute run does not use this glitch. Orb glitch is a different one.

ACE is needed to get the cloud.
Since when?

I said if the glitches are the same, not if they look the same, have a similar effect or have the same setup.

Doesn't it look a little silly to have a run that skips all stages via glitches and a run that only skips "some" via glitches?
Yes it does if the glitches are the same.

The KSS one lacks any of the unusual, erratic movement patterns that the SMW one does. Which similarly bizarre, confusing movements lead to the memory corruption that creates items like the Orb, or if it's taken a step further, out-right ACE.
Memory corruption and ACE are not just a "step" apart, they are completely different things. And as Patashu already said, you can't get to ACE with the orb glitch. Just looking the same is not a reason for obsoletion. It's just like displaying the THE END screen while the game is still in level mode, which does not count as the game being beaten, even if it looks like it to the viewer. You can't just avoid looking at the technical details of glitches.

Technical aspects don't matter that much. What matter is how the viewer perceives it
What. Let's use my KSS submission as an example. So you say that climbing on a ladder should be banned because it looks similar to the ladder glitch?

The glitch always jumps to open bus. The reason why the game can continue is just because it managed to get back to the normal code again, but the fact that it executed open bus makes it not different from the ACE run. So you could say: "If you get the cloud you might as well get directly to the credits."

Bad goal choice and suboptimal. It's possible to save at least 20 seconds. Voting No. Link to video

So I looked around a bit and what I can already say is that it improved. Now it's more natural and comparable to other emulators. Though there are a few things I'd like to say. In my opinion the positioning of "Debug" should be between "Movie" and "Help" so that it goes: File, Options, Tools, Movie, Debug, Help. I would also switch the "Sound" and "Input" inside "Options" as it is important to configure the Hotkeys as you first use the emulator. I don't know how often it's used, but Debug > Logging > Print/Trace > (a lot of things)... looks like a lot of work to activate specific options and deactivate ones you don't want. Maybe another window with some checkboxes would be easier to use. But other than that, I really like the new grouping of stuff and the more familiar look of the menu. edit: I forgot one thing, I don't like the fact that hourglass has a "Stop Capture" option. I think it should only be there if you are actually recording or maybe it should replace the "Record Video" option. I'm used to stop the recording by going exactly where I started the recording in the menu (which didn't work in hourglass r81, making my encodes too long).

"2 frames were saved by using the V-key for advancing textboxes which for some reason is faster than other keys" Explain please. Is it because of the developer (VVVVV) or it's a scan code related thing (47/0x2F)?
I don't know why that is, but I wouldn't think that the developer did this on purpose. Maybe it just has to do with the way hourglass or the computer handles different kinds of keys or something.

Do you think it's viable to, instead of using a green shell to do the goal-swap in YI2, eat 10 berries and do the swap with the Mushroom?
After eating the berries, the game lags for like 30 frames before spawning the mushroom, and that is too much time lost.

The previous run indeed used those buttons (Snes9x just doesn't show the "3" for some reason). That run was console verified so I don't know how far you can go to call it "invalid". On that matter, read the posts after that previous run was published.

I'd like to say that I improved the submission text to really include all the information about this run.

Does that mean he's going to cancel this as well, thus making it near impossible for anyone to submit a new TAS for this game as well? :/
Yeah of course I will, that's exactly the reason why I uncancelled the Kirby Super Star submission already! It was my plan all along to cancel this one too and give Kirby Super Star all the attention!

Great movie! I wanna make sure that I don't get too much credit for this. I was surprised that nobody went ahead and helped MUGG after he pretty much almost got to the credits. I decided that I could help him, as I already knew a bunch about the gameboy CPU (it's pretty easy). After a bit of digging inside the game I saw that we could use the xposition for more code to execute, which was the final step to succeeding. Fun fact: MUGG and I are both native German speakers but we never talked a word German. :D

Good job with this movie. Though, I don't know how I feel about the goal. It obviously takes away a bunch of entertainment when you see cool rooms just being skipped. Personally I think I'd prefer a "100%, no Esc" run or something, because there are a lot of routes that are possible.

there are plenty of platforms and enemies that require some degree of waiting, meaning that you often only have to make sure you enter a room as early as possible and any further position optimization is pointless.
You also have to make sure that you optimize your position around the platform or enemy. I saw a few movement errors and I suspect that ~3s can be saved just from them. Voting Meh.
