But don't get me wrong though. You'll probably save like 30 frames in 1 hour if you're lucky and then there are always the frame rules that can destroy the saved frames...

The coins/lives/scorepoints cause lag because the game has to convert the hex value to dec value (it does that by constantly removing a power of 10 until it's under that) each frame.
There are no heavy calculations for the powerup in the box and a quick test showed that nothing vs mushroom does 15 instructions more. But then again a score of 24200 vs 24210 means 12 instructions more.

Just something Mister didn't mention. We are indeed ~102 frames faster than the usual YI4 route, unfortunately the overworld takes so long (~135 frames more).
It's a shame if it fails to these ~30 frames...

You are saying that as if we never attempted at figuring out how the stun glitch works.
The setup for a double stun is even harder, considering that a sliding koopa turns into a naked blue koopa as soon as it stops sliding. The reason it's so nice with a P-Switch is that you don't really need a setup for it.
Next you are going to tell us that not only a horizonal swimming fish, but also a Classic Pirhana Plant, a Magikoopa, a horizontal climbing Green Koopa on a net, unused sprite 0x69, the Firework, a Boo Block, an invisible mushroom, an Eerie generator, and the unused sprites 0xF7 and 0xFC will spawn a Reznor.

Reznor
Edit: Ok, I'm gonna add information:
In the orignal Reznor rooms the game only spawns 4 sprites of Reznor in slots #7, #6, #5 and #4.
In the Reznor routine, besides calculating the position of the rotating sprites, it also rotates the whole sign and checks if the level should end. To avoid doing that 4 times it only does it when it processes a Reznor in slot #7.
Ending a level is checked by adding together the 4 bytes in $1520-$1523 and checking if the result is 4 (when you hit the platform of a Reznor the respective address is set to 1).
Though, SMW also uses this sprite table from $151C-$1527 for "vertical directions" (maybe for other things, depends on the sprite). So manipulating these for the slots #4-#7 to result 4 will trigger the end of the Reznor battle.
You get Yoshi back at the overworld because you didn't ever jump off of him (there is a flag, so even Yoshi despawned you still get him back after the next transition).

It was, indeed, replaced completely at the start (that's why there was the start9 protest).
Because it also gives the people the option to use the other mode on a tricky-but-not-extra-difficult part. (See the ledge, after several hours they manage to create a strategy to come across. Would that have been the case with the possibility of another, easier mode?)
I, too, prefer the latter, but only in case these two options are the only ones that exist. But these are by far not the only ones.
Let me give two other options.
Hacking the game to remove/modify the parts that seem to be impossible (in this case the difficulty is not removed completly with the step limit, you can still waste all the 30 Safari Balls or dig out).
Letting the social experiment fail with anarchy.

I don't know but in my opinion I would rather say
'We removed the step limit, makes sense right? I mean there is no way that would have possibly worked otherwise'
instead of
'We simply changed the whole concept of control we've been using for days so that it now turned into a slow Let's Play'.
There even were assumptions made that the step limit would have been removed already.

I would have loved to see the whole thing advance by not introducing democracy mode, but instead just removing the step limit in the Safari zone (would have been still a problem when you are out of balls but maybe they would have managed to finish it that way).

Actually a lot of people were ok for using Democracy for beating safari zone as is it very very unlikely to make it in less than 500 steps in Anarchy mode.

Any reason why people were so divided on whether to get Eevee?
I don't know why people wanted Eevee, maybe it was because it was so easy to get?
The reason why it was bad: http://i.imgur.com/9cV06Yq.png
Keep in mind that this picture was created directly after beating Erika (4th badge), so before they got Eevee, when the whole fight started.

So, I decided to make a video about the past few days of twitchplayspokemon for the people that might have missed a few moments.
Link to video
It might be a bit outdated now already as it quite took some time to put together but whatever.

There is lost data every time a rerecord happens.
By data I don't mean input, but the rerecord data that was saved. When losing this data you can also screw the optimizing/exploring aspect.
