I'm sorry but if the submission is deemed as sloppy, and is shown to be improvable, then shouldn't the submission be delayed or cancelled instead of accepted? From my understanding the glitch itself doesn't take up that much of the movie's inputs, so it's not unreasonable to ask if it can be improved and either replacing the movie file with an updated one later. I don't see the point of accepting something that has known improvements and given that the changes are so late into the TAS, a new and better submission is very likely to show up again, making it incredibly pointless to accept this as it is.
The author doesn't intend to improve on it, nor does the author of the improved inputs. Honestly, the only noticeable flaw is in one spot so I don't see that as too big a deal.

I'm interested in tackling rescue rangers 1, fcxiaopengyou, are you still planning on working on the game?

Really nice work, I loved to see the clips finally put to use. My one question though is whether or not 0% and this essentially no memory corruption branch should remain separate from each other. The difference is only of 3% items and 24 seconds which is far from a lot. I definitely understand them being separate in RTA but with TAS that distinction is much smaller. In the past, it seemed like there was an unofficial agreement to not do any% as it would be so close to 0%. Now that there is an any% TAS, we need to figure out how to actually handle that.

Voted no because again while there is decent variety, none of it is particularly exciting to watch.

Giving up isn't just negative feedback, it's bad advice. Good advice would be either to submit with the current strategy or what have you.

If the rest of the TAS will look the same as in the 2014 WIP, I don't think the world will be that happy to see it. It got 6.2 thousand of view so far, which is not a good result. Also, I'll need a hundred cups of coffee to read all the comments to figure out why each turn was made in that way. Probably I'm too young to enjoy such fast-pace games. Given that 10 years have already passed and the full TAS hasn't been built yet, I would just abandon it because procrastination usually doesn't give a positive result or it won't live up to the expectations.
A large amount of my tases don't break 1k on my youtube channel. Just because you don't enjoy it doesn't mean it shouldn't be made. This is a really bad take.

So I found a couple of small improvements. First is on the staircase stage (frame 5727) where I saved 2 frames. I'm pretty sure more time could come off it, I didn't use ram watch for this. Userfile: User movie #68962010294720545 The second is placing the pig in the barn at around frame 19000. You jump to the barn and spend quite a bit of time in midair, but I place the pig down, walk a little right and pick the pig back up and he is placed in the barn. This saves 20 frames. Userfile: User movie #68962035464123494 I'm pretty sure there are plenty more improvements possible in this game.

They're very different games, Paper Mario is one of the spinoff RPG series, but still maintains some platforming. EDIT: I think it'd be good to have at least one Mario RPG star since they're extremely popular and TTYD is a very broken game making it a good pick.

What are people's preferences regarding ending? Game over to high score screen has a bunch of precedents but the majority of those don't have such long ball savers. If one considers this gameplay, one should spread such deaths over the course of the tas to minimize waiting time. If one doesn't, you could just add it in after the tas. One could also save and quit out but this essentially just suspends play, if you re-enter the game, everything will be as you left it. Finally there's the option of just leaving things as is which some people feel is unsatisfying. However for some other games, there really isn't any other option.

I honestly completely forget what I voted but iirc I felt that there was some creativity in the strategies that were satisfying to see but at the same time the game could be a tad repetitive.

File > Movie > On Movie End > Switch to Record should definitely work but I thought just having it on read + write would also work.

I'm working on an all levels tas with fsvgm777, our last wip to be uploaded to youtube is here: Link to video In the first level with fleas I had a flea egg instantly hatch and it's not related to the timer that automatically hatches all eggs in the stage: Here is a userfile containing this: User movie #68720084349038205 EDIT: Appears to be connected to 0x000974 in wram. EDIT2: Figured it out. It relates to the global egg timer. When an egg comes within range it gets assigned an address and that address takes the value of the global egg timer. Each frame the value counts down by 1. If you hit the egg, it goes down by 1000 (plus 1 per frame). If you hit the egg at 1001, it immediately hatches as the value hits 0 the next frame. While the address is at 1000 through 91, if you hit it will be set to 90. If it is below 90, any additional hits do nothing to the counter.

It's not really underhanded given those people have absolutely 0 chance of winning, it just makes the award process less annoying.

I'm personally opposed to Maru because of how he negatively contributed to TASing this year. He contributed gatekeeping which is something the TASing community does not need.

I would like to object to these two being nominated for TASer of the year. For both of them, they’ve only made one movie this year while the other movie of theirs was an improvement done by someone else, while using their inputs.
