Does "Jump" increase the height of your jumps? I question whether you'd even want to pick those up, you seem to spend a lot of time waiting to land on the ground after jumps in order to jump again like at the steps around frame 6150 and the platforms at around frame 13550. EDIT: I just checked and Jump does increase your jump height. I really question whether or not grabbing it is a good idea early on.

The fact of the matter is that in this case the author failed to do their due diligence. That this submission happens to be faster than the current publication is irrelevant when considering wips the author had access to. We do not function like an RTA leaderboard nor is it necessary that we do so.

I am mainly hesitant on saying a "fighter mode" run obsolete warpless because the fact that the glitches present in a fresh save are not possible in fighter mode seems to me to be coincidental. It does not rule out the possibility of glitches that would not be allowed in a "warpless" type run be found in fighter mode and would go against the reason that branch exists.

This is by no means a strict rule when it comes to unfinished WIPs beating finished runs but we want people to put in a basic amount of research when it comes to submitted TASes and that includes looking up any existing wips. EDIT: What I mean by "this is not a strict rule" is not to say we will be accepting of outright inferior play. What we strictly enforce is that a submission has execution on par with or superior to any known WIPs. It is to say that a wip that is faster than a submission up to a certain point through a trick that the submission was unaware of but the submission otherwise seems to do its due diligence and has higher execution of that of the WIP is not outright disqualified from acceptance. If the submission loses time in numerous places to a WIP then it is considered obsoleted by the WIP. What is considered a known WIP is what can be accessed through TASVideos forums, easily accessed through search engines, or otherwise readily available to the author. This is not a hard list, but can be considered a bare minimum. It is not expected that one dive through video sites for hours but one should put in some effort into research when making a submission.

Well, the alternative game modes in this game are more similar to the Thief Mode from SotN or even the Hard Mode of certain games than the alternative character modes commonly seen in newer games. They don't change the game mechanism too drastically.
I know what fighter mode does but that doesn't change my point that it's not exactly what you typically see obsolete other goals.

On having the current run be obsoleted by Fighter Mode, it'd definitely be unusual to have it obsoleted by a separate mode but if it would really be similar enough to the current run, I could see it as possible potentially.
The thing is, the current "warpless" run has a goal that's defined rather arbitrarily, even to the knowledge of a decade ago. A Fighter Mode run simply does what that category intends to do the best, without applying overly arbitrary rules.
I don't disagree with the current run having an arbitrarily defined goal. In fact... from my research I couldn't even find a specific ruling on what that goal even entailed. However, replacing such a branch with a different mode would be unprecedented from what I understand.

Any other opinions on what to do with the current warpless run? If a rules clarification is desired, it would require feedback from the community to decide what should/shouldn't be allowed. On having the current run be obsoleted by Fighter Mode, it'd definitely be unusual to have it obsoleted by a separate mode but if it would really be similar enough to the current run, I could see it as possible potentially.

Two things were intentionally left out of that run: Exploration Glitch and Out of Bounds. Exploration Glitch was explained in the submission text for this run and out of bounds is self-explanatory. A third glitch was discovered after that movie was created called "Yuzuhara's Bottle Adventure". Currently RTA runners do not allow that glitch in their equivalent category but I do not recall if there was any such agreement when it comes to TAS. I do recall that the glitch is powerful enough to allow for skipping bosses maybe even dungeons but I'm not sure.

...Well I was confused then because I myself misinterpreted the rules I copypasted from 6 then. In that case just go by shortest input file since it seems more people interpreted it in that direction then.

It is how previous dream team contests were timed and avoids awkward situations where a team's gameplay is faster yet ends input later.
