Personally I found the glitch kinda neat but other than that fairly bland and unexciting. Meh vote.

Important to note, this TAS uses a hidden input combination that is not given to you anywhere in the game which skips the waiting period where Bowser's back is hurt.

I looked at the submission file and
BoardName: Minigame Island
I don't think that's what that field is for.

So the TAS does apparently miss the buzzbuzz cutscene stutter walk thing
Watching buzzbuzz cutscene in pokey's house is mandatory in this run. Because Sound Stone is used to reload the map after stairs glitch. You won't get the stone if you skip his cutscene.
What we meant was not buzzbuzz dying but how when buzzbuzz is first introduced if you stutter walk through the cutscene trigger a little, the characters will be in a more optimal position when starting the cutscene.

The glitch cant be done on Genesis because they made the wall thicker on Genesis.

As far as I can tell this was not brought up at all with the Blue No Save Corruption run. If this is the case for that run, it was overlooked entirely.

The key thing for me is that if a steam hook gets implemented like is planned I believe, allowing removal of drm would be completely unnecessary. Maybe if in the future it proves to be absolutely necessary we can consider it but for now libTAS is far too young to consider such tactics. For now we should let the program mature more and disallow any such pirated versions.

I was also made aware of this really old TAS by a Japanese TASer: Link to video It's apparently not particularly optimized but it has some tricks and stuff to be considered TAS level. EDIT: Also apparently the previous WIP I linked before was actually continued a bit more: Link to video

In case it somehow isn't clear, all submissions must also abide by TASVideos rules. I was made aware of the existence of a level select cheat. This is obviously banned by TASVideos rules.

Sign-ups are closed. Teams which haven't still provided a name and a logo can still do so, but then it won't be changed or removed.
The game Donald Land is a McDonalds themed video game made by Data East for the Famicom. In a way I sort of lied and the "Nightmare" does come into play if you find clowns and or fast food frightening. It was not released outside of Japan. In this game, Ronald McDonald throws apples and navigates platforms to rescue his friends. There is currently 1 TAS wip on YouTube and some decent RTA competition for the game. Checksums for the NES ROM file

Tips
  • Divide the tasks. Everyone has own strengths and weaknesses. Make your team members work on different jobs in order to improve efficiency. This is crucial.
  • Keep in contact. Use a private and secure chat group of your choice to talk with your teammates about your progress, discoveries, ideas, and share your files.
  • Play it a lot first. Game mechanics are easier to understand by playing the game casually, with some code cheating if necessary. Start TASing when you feel that you know enough.
  • Take note of everything. Any trick and glitch may come useful in a way or another, even if it does initially not seem. Also remember that your discoveries may come useful after the contest.
  • Try anything. Even after you've finished TASing the game, use the remaining time to try and improve the run. A sudden discovery can turn the tide of the contest.
  • Don't procrastinate You may make mistakes. However, you have the ability to fix these mistakes but only if you give yourself the time to be able to.
  • Don't give up. This game and contest may not be as long as Zook Man ZX but there is still always the chance for motivation to plummet. Try to keep at it even if you hit a roadblock.
Also You may ask me for any kind of assistance, especially if you're having troubles with emulators. You may contact me via IRC, Discord, forum PM, or even Twitter if you really want (don't actually use Twitter please, Twitter dms are annoying). However, I will not give help on TASing the game. I still would like to wish you all the best of luck, the best of fun, and declare the contest started!

There's less than 10 hours remaining until signups close (23:59 UTC), at which point the game will be revealed. Given that all teams are currently full, if you would like to join, I would prefer you join with at least two others. If not I'll have to work something out.

Finished a rough draft of sorts Link to video User movie #50176966022598816 There's still some known areas of improvement on this and some I think are likely to be improved: prior to halfway through 3-1, I didn't realize that jumping out of the water made you stop for a frame. I also didn't think to manipulate the final positions of the 2nd and 4th bosses the first time you fight them. Wouldn't be surprised if 3-2 can be improved and the waterfall section before the boss re-fights as well.

I have to ask out of curiosity. There's a few known before this TAS was submitted that wasn't used such as the Starman skip (which you're now well acquainted with) which requires stutter walking.
I'll respond to the rest of this later but this movie definitely uses Starman skip. EDIT: So the TAS does apparently miss the buzzbuzz cutscene stutter walk thing. However I still stand by my judgment as this is not nearly big enough to have warranted redoing the entire TAS with the knowledge of the game at the time of submission. This will be kept in mind for any future Earthbound submissions. If a new submission appears before this gets published, I will simply need to deal with this movie accordingly.

Given that Starman Skip is just stutter walking and is even allowed in the completely inbounds run, I don't see why it wouldn't be allowed.

Additionally the RTA runner told me you can hit Reala during the opening cutscene. I'll try to find a video for the Gillwing thing. EDIT: Link to video I was told the loop was a tad slow in this video.

I talked to an RTA runner and on the first boss they noticed something seemingly suboptimal:
The thing I noticed is that he stalls a little before doing the loop. You can pass through the joints of the boss and get a loop in.
They won't be able to do detailed analysis until next week but I figured I might as well post this now.

So the Doppler Attack doesn't involve a bug and is just a debug mode from a Sonic game except turned into a weapon. Incredible.

I've just finished my TAS of Nights into Dreams and before I submit it I thought that I should check to see if there are any issues or things that could be changed. For the run I complete both characters three unique stages and then select the final stage. The thing about this is that both characters share the same final stage and I only complete one of them to reach the credits and get that characters ending. The stage is identical between the two, so would it be fine if I just leave things as is to avoid repeating the same stage/boss fight.
What's your movie's goal/branch?
From what I know about NiGHTS into Dreams, this sounds based on the "All Levels" RTA category and I imagine the submission would use the same label.
