About this rule:

I am willing to consider changing this rule however to a flat comparison of times without conversions if enough people express a desire otherwise."
Is this an issue in this game? Have you tried just recording a movie through it and checked if it syncs on the other emulator? Our team is trying to decide on an emulator, due to some hardware limitations, and it would be nice to know we won't get screwed over if we use FCEUX.
I actually don't know currently, I can try to check real quick. I'm willing to change the rule, even after the contest has started, if enough people want.

A new glitch has been found that allows shifting values in RAM 4 bytes to the left. The RTA time is currently 1 and a half hours using this glitch and it can likely go down further. This reddit post by veo has further details.

I just did some testing to check where the save corruption happens, and it happens when you spawn in the glitched town. I reached that town, then went to the bottom floor and died in the water until I got a game over. Selected the bottom option (save & quit) and all save slots were corrupted. Then I made the eye death boost be a game over and save & quit before the game spawned me in town. And it did not corrupt the saves. Seems as if, as long as we appear in the glitched white town, the saves will corrupt.
Sounds to me this has nothing to do with game completion then and the ending itself actually plays out completely normally. There are no rules against bricking carts. For all we know some games may in fact brick themselves automatically through normal play and banning them would be silly.

Then officially it can't be submitted or verified in accordance with the site's rules. Please don't push the site into a corner here, we absolutely must be above reproach on the piracy issue at all times. The reality is as I pointed out above that access to some content is always a challenge in many other industries and niches from everything from sewing patterns to industrial control systems to you name it. In order to remain an ongoing concern it is necessary for the site to phrase things the way we do.
...Except this is basically listed in the rules already.

I'm not aware of any TASes that require piracy to sync it up on an emulator or console
The rules state "Exceptions may be made for bad or cracked ROM images only if no good ROM images exist, or are not obtainable." This mainly applies to Commodore 64 which uses cracked ROMs for a good number of its movies. It may be that these movies are impossible to sync on emulator with an unmodified ROM instead.

Touching that enemy can be avoided, and I do build up some speed on the wall. I'm going to have to redo basically the entire tas anyway to incorporate doing the clips without facing the wall (there are a few places where this should be faster), so I'll go ahead and include your improvement while I'm there.
This sounds like it might be worth resubmitting instead of updating the file but I'm not sure. Want me to reject/cancel this while you implement these improvements? Note you can cancel yourself if you prefer.

I would prefer not inventing a term that we have to explain to people first. Translation Layer (unabbreviated) or API Wrapper sound fine to me.
This is a fairly good point. We should be focusing on what is most clear to the reader first and easily abbreviated second. Good abbreviations are nice but I think trying to force an abbreviation might come off unnatural compared to say emu.

The pronunciation of "trans slayer" can be rather unfortunate and is probably worth avoiding the term altogether for. Something to do with API is probably better all around.

Personally I voted no because I felt the game was fairly repetitive and lacked much depth. The Stitch stages are probably the best part, the Lilo stages feel fairly bland and the autoscrollers and the ship segment didn't really interest me either. Despite being the best part I didn't feel much danger or anything particularly impressive in the Stitch stages.

What about my other improvement where I found out you can move an enemy out of the way by shooting them? Any potential other applications? EDIT: Around frame 4040 you elect to stand in place rather than build up speed against the wall. Any reason for this? Additionally you appear to have gotten caught on an enemy at around frame 8090, is there a way to avoid that?

No, the inputs are unique, I still had to find them. Otherwise it would work the same in both cases. But my point is that the uniqueness is not due to me being somehow better. The emulator was better.
