I don't like repurposing cancellation because one that's not even really what the term means, and two, it'd sorta disrupt multiple systems we have in place. A judge would only be able to accept after a couple days but can cancel instantly (we can revisit that discussion but besides the point). I don't particularly like the idea of people being able to uncancel at will, that would likely create extra work for moderation. If anything, I would like a different status altogether for submissions judges need to take off the workbench early for various reasons ("closed" could work).

So something I've sorta been aware of is this sorta fear of rejection. Not only from submitters being afraid of having their submission rejected, but also judges being afraid to use rejection because it sounds too harsh and too permanent when we might accept it later after some rules change or some new structure gets built.
My current proposal is "Declined", it sounds much less harsh, and far less permanent.

My sorta plan currently is to make almost everything parents and subpages to take advantage of the site map and built in subpage lists. Pages related to a given topic would be Topic/X. Example: Judging/JudgingGuidelines
I haven't really gotten started on moving stuff around yet, mainly because updating links is kinda a pain but it's definitely something to keep in mind.

Should we consider retooling the "YT Tags" field to be a more generic "Search terms" field? Like a lot of this I feel could be applied towards other sorts of searches, ie, the site itself. Not sure if it's being used in the site search atm.
EDIT: Also I am rewriting the game editor how to currently, I'll incorporate changes as they get made to the editor.

Well I kinda wanted to make a post stating what my primary goals will be as admin and I guess I'll do it here. My primary goals at this point are to update the long abandoned wiki and to push for games based organization.
The wiki is a disorganized mess to say the least, tons of one off pages that are barely referenced and tons of pages that are out of date. It might be intimidating for somebody to want to help the site only to navigate through a ton of docs on say encoding where half of them might not have been touched since 2011.
Our current system based organization becomes very difficult to use once there's more than like 4 branches and 2 romhacks for games. If one were to primarily navigate movies by going through game pages, additional branches and eventually romhacks will become less of a concern, as they will not bury other games. Playground would also be listed on these game pages.

Since I see it mentioned in the submission comments, you don't need to have the movie recording run through the credits in order to include it. If you just hit play after the movie ends, the credits will run on their own. Fixing it isn't a big deal but I felt if there was a misconception, I might as well address it.

We are putting out a permanent call for new staff members and other forms of contributors. In particular, we are looking for new judges, publishers, encoders, editors, and developers. One can read the thread or the wiki page for more information.

It's not "most cases", it's "all cases". TASes are more than just times, they're creations. At TASVideos we offer our creators some degree of artistic freedom.
This game is extremely heavily text based, to the point to where some refer to it as a visual novel. The rest of the game is sorta first person adventure game type stuff. The choice of english text is understandable here.

It's probably only labeled this way because a game entry was created for it whereas that wasn't as much of a thing for previous C64 movies. It wasn't a deliberate choice. If the information on the game page isn't exactly accurate that can be edited.

You can also continue to play Donkey Kong to get a high score even past the ending. There is no need to get so nitpicky with an April Fools Submission.

I think one of those times was my bad when I claimed it. I started to edit it in the morning but didn't finish until after work.

So on the one hand, I'm glad that somebody else looked into the game and found a cool trick. Given my previous experiences with boulders, getting out of them if you end up stuck inside one, I see how this works and that's really neat.
On the other hand, I deeply wish you posted this sooner. Like within a couple months of having found this you could have been like "I'm not getting around to this any time soon, I should at least make what I found so far public so others could maybe use it." If you had, it would have easily been implemented into my 2019 redo. One of my favorite aspects of TASing is collaboration, and to see tricks go undocumented for 6 years makes me a bit sad. I don't want anyone else to pile onto this but I deeply hope that no additional instances of trick hiding have been occurring nor will they occur in the future.

The site will go down on March 5th at around 9PM UTC due to upgrades. It is expected to be down for no more than an hour.

I would be careful dropping support for earlier versions of bizhawk. Some N64 games emulate better on older versions than current (DK64 comes to mind).

Is the increased length due to GBC?

A better way to handle it altogether would be to group identical releases of a game together when we switch to game based navigation.

Repurposing game pages should no longer be necessary on this site.
