here is a good candidate for the vault. the run is technicaly good but was deemed borring a basic case on what should be vaulted

So, I think for the [http://tasvideos.org/Vault.html] rules, that similar versions of the same game across platforms are eligible for the vault. But for the [http://tasvideos.org/Moon.html] tier, we should demand some more notable differences between the two versions. So is this too similar? If so, should we still publish such similar movies to the vault? Should the faster be the one published (SDA rules)? Let's discuss.
it might be a bad idea, or else we might see the vault becoming full of "same run but different consoles runs " if the run is too similar, let's go by the sda rules :the fastest win.

Wow, nice to know that the community that I've felt a part of for 6+ years labels me as not to be taken seriously. I was under the impression that people are allowed to have their own opinions, and most importantly preferences about what they find entertaining, but I guess that's not the case. Go on and make whatever arguments you want and slander me and take what I've said out of context and try and make me look bad, but I'm not the one who first blew it out of proportion. It's just sad that what drew me to this site is a host of intelligent people trying to make entertaining movies that pushed the boundaries, and after spending years trying to contribute to that effort I'm now being attacked for sharing an opinion about console preference.
expressing ourselves is the point of a forum and you have the right to not like a particular console. it's also true that you are a senior figure of the comunity, and even if you don't feel like it, peoples listen to your choices and take your comments in account. now everybody, can we get back to the main subject ? should this submision be published ?

How does one normally beat this game, and what glitch or method is being used to beat it faster? It's not clear.
From Wikipedia:
The player(s) takes control of the DC Comics character Superman, who must repair the bridge destroyed by Lex Luthor, capture Luthor and his criminal underlings, enter a phonebooth to turn back into Clark Kent, then return to the Daily Planet in the shortest amount of time. To slow Superman's progress, Kryptonite has been released by Luthor. If hit by Kryptonite, Superman loses his abilities to capture criminals and fly. To regain them, he must find and kiss Lois Lane.
The glitch I abused involves pausing the game, which after a while, goes into this "Demo" mode where it loops through the whole game (kinda like a preview of it). If you move, normally, it would unpause the game and put you back to where you were. But if you were on a door, it glitches and allows you to enter. I take the subway (yes, that's what the yellow room is) and go to the daily planet to end the game. Note: if the bridge collapse is triggered, you can't win by going to the daily planet. You must do all that crap I listed instead.
. due to poor game design and console limitation, the games of that times were far from perfect, as trolly as the submission is, the glitch looks good, the run is short and the game quality is in the "standards" for the atari games... i'll give a honest yes but i fear that soon we will be flooded by a lot of glitched runs of atari games and some done like this one just to prove a point / troll the shit out of us... maybe we should modify the voting calculation to add a "console factor" ?

No.
plus there is still a glitch that allow to bypass the first half of the autoscroller, a borring part maybe but still a "glitched" run hence the same category as the current published run (that use just a bigger glitch) it would still be nice to see a 100% run of this game.....

I am surprised with all the Yes votes because "its historically significant." Who cares? That doesn't change the fact that the TAS is below average at best.
even if it's a piece of shit, it's still a fast and well executed piece of shit... it showcase a good emulation and a optimised tas of an Atari 2600 game, especialy interesting since it's the first of it's genre, the game is fast paced and made looks easy , nice jof for a RNG hell known for almost bringing down the game industry...

A max goo collection run would be INCREDIBLY long. Check some of the videos on wogfan's channel (http://www.youtube.com/user/wogfan), some levels take hours to complete under non-tas conditions.
i never said it would be easy :D but the difficulty of the task would make a even more impressive Toss Assisted Speedruns...

i fell like this thread is becoming world of complains right now :)
Which is weird because 65% of people voted yes so you would expect more words in favor, though I guess those who disagree are normally more vocal in their arguments.
i was just making a "world of puns" about the cutscenes complains >.>... ahem....let's get constructive again, i agree with the others, i personally don't mind the cutscenes as they are fun and i like them but 2 published encodes, one with the cutscenes, one with just the inputs would be the best option as it would satisfy the most everybody....

i agree with amaurea on the run the solutions are creatives and i was really surpised by how some levels are done a 100% / max goo collection would slow the gameplay thus equilibring the gameplay / cutscenes ratio but this run definitly have a place on this site. saying that a run mitght be too fast made me think of all the already published dungeon crawlers run or kings bounty (or even an unhacked camera run of the sonic advance run) where the gameplay is so fast that it kills the entertainement value every tas have it's own audience and this one manage to entertain and amaze it's target edit : btw, thanks for the encode

i liked to see how this childhood destroying game got destroyed (never managed to pass the first level when i was younger)... the run seems improvable and i had to press Y to get to the credits but it's a perfect chance / training for future newcomers i'm giving a yes vote .

i liked the run but i asked myself one question "how this one is different of the snes run ?" there's a lot of cool glitches and the infinites are prety cools but there where mores glitches and wtf in the SNES and N64 runs the falality's almoste looked censored (the demi brutality, some "out of screens fatality, no, seriously it's too bloody for you to see, please look away here is a nice puppy over there") it almost made me think of a censored MK1... i liked the run but i'll abstain to vote, if you manage to get something even glitcher / crazier you'll get a yes from me.
