Since it's been almost two years since nitrogenesis' testrun, I decided to tackle this game for a full run. Here's a WIP clearing the two Junkyard stages and the Forest stage (taking both of the warps): Link to video Scrapyard Pie Saves about five seconds over nitrogenesis' test WIP up to this point.

For this particular game, wouldn't "max score" qualify as "100%"? Because the only way to score points appears to be to collect all the items.
It's more than that. It's also avoiding taking damage.

The movie at present has 12.5 ratings averaging to 9.5, think that could count as an early indication?

In that case, the more accurate emulator is still preferred, but for publication the run would need to have some improvement over the current publication that is not just due to the different RNG. It has to improve on it in technical quality. (But since your movie already describes a new trick, improving it even with the same RNG, that would probably not be a problem.)

Yes, emulators with the Gambatte core (BizHawk or lsnes) are preferred even if they result in slower runs in the end due to loading time. As long as there are improvements in gameplay, such a slower run can still be published - there have been a few prior cases of this.

Is it possible that it'd be faster to drop the bombs and then go for the segment? Likewise with level 24 -- it seems like you should have been able to head down to bomb the wall at the bottom of the level earlier than you did.
In both these cases, if I tried that, it would scroll the bomb off screen and it would despawn without exploding. Also, due to the way that the enemies in level 24 are laid out, there is no quick way of going down initially, so I basically have to go up first instead. What I do there is lay a bomb to destroy the upper wall, then scroll down until it just barely doesn't despawn until the upper wall is destroyed. This is why I have to wait for a short while there, because I couldn't go any further down.

Yep, clear attempt to get around the limited user restriction by creating an alternate account. This account is now banned. Per the site rules, users are not permitted to register more than one account. saomoore94, if you're seen using another alternate account to circumvent your restriction, I'll ban your main account as well, plus any alternates. If you still want to submit a run, post it to userfiles and post it in the respective game topic on the forum. If you can prove yourself to be able to make publishable quality movies, you may regain access to submitting movies.

Mega Man X3 does not even run in BSNES Performance mode. BSNESHawk falls back to Compatibility mode immediately when you load up the ROM. And it synced straight out of the box for me as usual, don't know what the issue is on feos' end.

Hello Balimaar The Bass Fish, and welcome to TASVideos! Super Mario Bros. is a good game to learn the basics of TASing with (as long as you don't submit your attempts in the submission form, as it is unlikely you'd beat the currently highly optimized publications on the site any time soon). Try starting out with a TAS of SMB (be sure to read this guide first), and then see how your attempt compares to the currently published movie. You'll probably lose some time somewhere, so then try to investigate why, and as you keep on doing that and keep on getting closer to the published time, you'll get the hang of optimization on a TAS level. You can upload your attempts here. Once you've got that down, you can then apply that experience to another game, one that has no TAS or has a TAS you might be able to improve upon.

Due to abuse of the voting system involving alt accounts, three yes votes have been subtracted from this submission.

Some parts of the story here are not adding up. Unknown394 replied to KirbyFan in this topic, and KirbyFan replied back minutes later. Then afterwards, Unknown394 claimed to have used Skype instead. The post history is right here, showing that the Skype mention was unnecessary. It also allows moderators to trace the IPs of those posts back, which shows that these posts were made, within minutes, from the same IP address. Ergo, I'm calling bullshit that these posts were not made from the same room. Given this lie, I also doubt that this 'son' exists as anything else other than an alt account of the same person. And the reason Unknown394 made an alt account is clear, because it conveniently got enough posts (by posting mostly useless stuff) to be able to vote for this submission by Unknown394 (which it has). In fact, I'm reasonably certain that Unknown394 is also behind the accounts Browser404 (posted mostly useless stuff to vote for aforementioned submission, and shares IP with Unknown394/KirbyFan) and Lucy2002 (also posted useless stuff to vote for aforementioned submission). With this, it is clear that there has been an attempt by Unknown394 to abuse the voting system for his own submission(s). Creating alt accounts to vote for one submission multiple times is a violation of the site rules. Unknown394, this could result in your submissions being rejected or your account being banned. I will let you off this time, but the alt accounts will be banned and their votes negated. If we catch you doing something like this again, you will be banned from the site and your submissions will be rejected.

It's not. Project M is a popular hack with a strong following, it will provide different enough content from regular Brawl (even if the stages and bosses are the same, it's clear that the player's motions aren't), and it'll certainly be entertaining to watch. I am quite looking forward to seeing an optimized TAS of it.

That about sums it up. Thank you for making this TAS, it is brilliant in so many ways. I'd also like to suggest a "Submission text of the year" category for the yearly TASvideos awards, and take the opportunity to be the first to nominate this one. (And I'm serious, why don' we have that category?)
For a (hypothetical) award to have any merit, it would need to have several viable candidates. Otherwise it's just an excuse to gush about a specific aspect of one specific submission, it would not be sustainable, and the award would be rather pointless and arbitrary. If you could name enough viable candidates, create a topic in Sites and we could discuss (serious) award ideas like this further.

Looks like you're still using the NG+ carryover glitch. That's still a major turn-off, it makes it look like Sisters are cheesing through the game way too easily (and making MP management a lot easier, it looks like). It also disqualifies it from the Vault, as that doesn't allow NG+ categories (glitched or otherwise).

We want Plush to be an author after the new .m64 is submitted, but are currently working on saving a 2nd frame before the replacement happens.
You may edit the real name and nickname fields in the submission yourself if you want to do so. (That saves us from having to guess what order you want the names to be in, whether to include a real name or not, etc.). Let me know when you have the new .m64 file, so that I can update the file in this submission (no need to resubmit the whole movie again). On an unrelated note, after last page's discussion, I reverted the YouTube link for the 70-star publication back to sonicpacker's encode. It should not have been changed without permission from either site administration or sonicpacker, and it's disrespectful to violate an agreement like that without approval.

Here's a problem I thought about recently. If you take the last digit of 102564 and put it first, you get 410256, which is 4 times the original number. Similarly, if you take the last digit of 142857 and put it first, you get 714285, which is 5 times the original number. Problem: What is the smallest positive integer such that if you take its last digit and put it first, you get a number which is 6 times the original? (As usual, numbers don't start with leading zeros.)
I got interested in this and wrote a quick program to brute-force all numbers to see if their digit-swapped versions were an integer multiple between 2 and 10. I didn't get an answer to the question asked, but I did find exactly seven results in the 100000-250000 range (one x5, the number FractalFusion noted, and the rest x4), and nothing else for at least the next five orders of magnitude (after this, the bot started taking too much time for my quick test). Whatever the answer would be, if it even exists, it would be larger than at least the 10 billion range. For completion's sake, the results I found: 102564 - 410256 (x4, FractalFusion's example) 128205 - 512820 (x4) 142857 - 714285 (x5, FractalFusion's example and the only x5 example) 153846 - 615384 (x4) 179487 - 717498 (x4) 205128 - 820512 (x4) 230769 - 923076 (x4)

Is there a reason why the European version is used? The submission doesn't say anything about it.
The SMS version of the game was only released in PAL regions (Europe and Brazil).
Brazil had 60hz consoles (with the PAL palette). So there is no reason for this TAS to be PAL, and not NTSC. It's the same ROM because on SMS, it's the console that decides the speed, not the cart.
I'm aware of this. That doesn't mean that it's not still a PAL version and that no non-PAL/European/Brazilian version of the game exists. The TAS itself could indeed be run on NTSC settings and still be considered valid (because of the official Brazilian release), per precedent. I'm guessing that the reasons for not doing this were either historical (taking after the published run), or being unaware about the Brazil release/situation. (It can be confusing sometimes.)

Can't compare to the nicovideo TAS if your category choice is completely different.
This is not in New Game + mode because there is no such option for Richter, Sisters, and Old Axe Armor modes. I'm using a glitch to acquire certain items from Johnathan mode, and the use of such a non game breaking glitch probably doesn't make the category choice different. Not to say that any runs in Richter, Sisters, and Old Axe Armor modes have to start from SRAM at the first place.
You are still using a powerup bonus from a previous playthrough, and that still makes it newgame+. That it is a glitch just makes it a glitched newgame+, it doesn't make it a newgame run.

2) Not draining your MP to fall faster. Just...what? Why would you not do that? MP regenerates incredibly fast on the ground and you can grab hearts to restore it even faster. Not doing this because you wanted to hit more enemies is really dumb.
There are times when you lose time if you intentionally touch the ground to regenerate MP in order to hit more enemies. It's less arbitrary to forgo this trick outright. Not using this trick also gives Loretta more chances to appear because otherwise Stella would be used for most time in order to perform this trick despite the fact that Loretta usually deals more damage than Stella does under TAS condition.
Forgoing any trick for any reason is more arbitrary, it never is less arbitrary. Use Stella wherever it's faster and Loretta wherever that is faster. If switching to Stella for this trick is slower than not switching, then that is a fair reason, but not switching to "give Loretta more chances to appear" or to "hit more enemies" is a very arbitrary choice, and it also reeks of laziness. In all honesty, this whole category choice reeks of laziness in general. With lvl1 hard mode to avoid level-up screens and experience management, yet with glitched newgame+ to still defeat bosses fast, and forgoing a trick that would require MP management and some character management (and all that in Sisters mode, which has some of the simplest motion physics and attacking methods of any Castlevania game), it just looks like the simplest road possible is taken. That doesn't really impress me. I'm voting no.
