It's acceptable because it is the wish of the author and everyone involved, and it is the choice that makes the author and everyone involved happy. I'm not sure why anyone should have a problem with the option that literally benefits everybody involved as according to their own wishes. There is no reason to make a morality issue out of it.

Yes, and? As I said in the same post, every industry that produces works with credit does this. People not getting credited for (small) stuff they did happens all the time everywhere, sometimes voluntary or not. And in this case, it is voluntary and willing for literally everyone involved. There is nobody involved who has a problem with this.

I have no idea how you’re coming up with this distinction. It’s co-authorship, where does “credit” come from?
Credit means the name given in the author field. You seem to have an issue with vince1919 being the only author name given even though Masterjun also did a part of the input. So the authors are vince1919 and Masterjun (and Samsara), but the credited name is just vince1919. That is the distinction. And I said in the rest of my post how while authorship is a given fact (as you have been arguing), credit is not, as that can be freely left to the publisher or the respective authors.

I’ve literally explained why in my first post. Can you try reading it? Authorship is not an agreement, it’s a fact. If you made something, you’re that something’s author. That’s how it fucking works, not “Oh but I don’t care about authorship so don’t worry about it”. Read up on the definition of “author” in a dictionary or something.
Authorship is a given fact, credit is not. If Masterjun allows vince to use his input but does not want to be given credit, then that is fine, we attribute the full movie to vince even if a small part of the input is not actually his. This is how practically every industry that produces works with credit works (especially the entertainment industry); credit is a choice (either of the publisher of the work, or (usually) deferred to the author of the (partial) work). As we defer the choice of credit to the author, if Masterjun does not want to take credit for his input, we attribute it as if it was vince's. That is how it is, and that is how it's going to be published. Case closed.

In what way is it not working as intended, then? Comments like "It doesn't work" or "It's not working as intended" don't really help us understand exactly what is happening or what is supposed to happen.

Why are you using decimal numbers for RAM addresses, instead of hexadecimal? It's very unintuitive, as hexadecimal numbers are used for memory addresses basically everywhere. From the looks of it, you've got your address numbers mixed up. 8261261 in hex is 0x7E0E8D. The RAM address for Donkey Kong's X speed, which I assume you're intending to change, is 0x7E0E8B. So put that in there, instead of the number you're using now. I don't know what address you're trying to use for "face" (the one you have right now is 0x7E0C6E in hex), but it doesn't look right either.

If it didn't create the avi file, then you're missing the x264 encoder. Download it (from e.g. here), rename to x264.exe (if necessary), and put it in the same folder as dumpconvert.exe. Then try running the same command again.

If you haven't seen it yet, check out the TASVideos page on lua scripting: Wiki: LuaScripting. See also this particular page for display, which is what you are asking for right now: Wiki: LuaScripting/Display But I'll give you the basic code you want right now. Try not to just blindly copy it, but try to make sure that you understand what every line of it does, so that you can make your own scripts for future purposes. Note that readword() is used to read 2-byte RAM values (a 2-byte value is referred to as a 'word' in many programming contexts).
Language: lua

local ramAddress = 0x7E0565 local ramValue while true do ramValue = memory.readword(ramAddress) gui.text(0,0, ramValue) emu.frameadvance() end

JPC-rr plays back slowly because JPC-rr is very slow. dumpconvert is a command-line tool, and instructions to use it are given here. It can convert your dump file to a video file (like AVI, MKV, MP4) and audio file (like WAV, OGG) for further mixing or encoding. To make simple lossless video and audio files, run dumpconvert with the following parameters:
dumpconvert --video-width=((x)) --video-height=((y)) --video-framerate=((fps)) --output-wav=audio.wav --output-x264=video.avi,crf=0, ((dump))
where you replace "((x))" with the horizontal video resolution, "((y))" with the vertical video resolution, "((fps))" with the video frame rate, and "((dump))" with the name of your dump file. See also the examples for parameters given in the link above. If you don't know how to use the command line, then look up 'how to use the command line' in Google.

If the only thing that would change is the encode, and not any of the run input, there's no reason to update the movie file. Just keep the movie file the way it was originally submitted and published, for authenticity reasons.

PGA Tour (Golf) is an example which is cited in the rules, and which I also brought up earlier in this topic. Other examples: Virtua Tennis, Top Spin, Virtual Pool, Hot Shots Golf, AMF Bowling, to name a few, all have multiple games on the same platforms.

Consider it from another perspective: Let's assume that game series were eligible. Also let's assume that a fan of the series were to make a TAS of every single one of those games. What's the amount of "harm" that would ensue from publishing them? There are currently 1675 published TASes according to the statistics page. Those 9 games would increase that number by 0.5%. I somehow fail to see the harm done by this. I don't really understand why we are being so conservative about this. I would understand it if the number of currently published movies were 30. I don't really understand it when the actual number is 1675.
Keep in mind, by 9 movies you are talking about one series, and on one platform only. Across all platforms (including handhelds and mobile versions), counting every port individually, the Madden series has almost 160 games. Likewise, FIFA has over 180 games (not even counting spin-offs). And there are plenty of other series with similar patterns. NHL, NBA, NCAA, Rugby, and so on, and even then I'm still limiting myself only to EA Sports releases. Other competing series like PES also have very sizable amounts of games. In the end, the numbers of individual sports game releases that could be TASed (at some point, theoretically) go well into the thousands. That's a whole world of difference from "9". Even if you don't count Madden and other sports that don't follow the fixed time rule, the PGA Tour golf series, to give another example, has 27 installments with almost a hundred releases in total. Do we really want to publish each and every one of those without restriction?

Yeah, there are a few hints towards it not being optimal timewise going by the comments, but it's not really definitive and reads like conjecture ("appear sloppy/improvable", 'should' have been possible to do better, etc.). I'd like to see more investigation specifically on the optimization, and see it judged according to that.
