I find it odd you expressed certainty to accept it ("will accept it") before actually watching it through and verifying. I suppose you already watched the whole thing through the author's encode, but you still cannot be certain to accept unless you already verified it. Otherwise, why "watch the whole run through" before accepting in the first place?

It looks like this remake actually changed around the properties of zipping, making horizontal zipping very hard if not impossible to do. (Not for long stretches, anyway.)
That said, the movie looks mostly optimal although there are a few small things I find suspect, such as taking damage in the Quick Man and Flash Man fights, and taking damage from a Sniper Joe at the end of Wily 4. It looks like it could possibly be avoided, and could be faster to avoid damage. I'm also not sure whether the Item-2 usage in Wily 1 saves enough time to offset the weapon refill time at the start of Wily 2. That aside, it looks reasonably optimal for the most part.
I actually quite like the run (aside from the fact that it still would have been much preferable to run in Navi mode for the arranged soundtrack). Its (horizontally) zipless nature and weapon switching means that a number of weapons such as Crash Bomb and Atomic Fire see more use in some areas.

I note that again the run does not use Navi mode, which is one of few reasons a run of one of these remakes would even be worthwhile in the first place.

Homebrews are accepted (to Vault, anyway) based on notability, as has been the case for a while now. See also turska's post on this one page back:

The 6-3 boss in particular was very difficult to optimize. To get the immediate quick kill, all actions had to be entirely frame perfect to hit him ~30 times as fast as possible.

The contest has, as of now, officially started!
I am glad to see this DTC has set records in user participation, with just over double the last DTC's contestant count (16 in DTC4 to 33 in DTC5), breaking DTC3's record of 23 participants by exactly 10. With a total of eleven teams duking it out, I am very curious to see how the teams will perform.
