Interesting. I like exploiting of corner boost(I used to do that by accident on real-time). Do you know how to make full-screen game in windowed-screen, by the way? I think there was the reference on your site.

I'm back again. Did I say I missed a couple frame? Well, while redoing the whole thing, I found some shortcuts I hadn't noticed. I finished level 8 and so far saved 389 frames comparing to old run. Yeah, it was worth it. Here's my WIP, by the way : http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/5497669584088249 The movie will desync on level 9.

I'm now busy dealing with Finding Nemo, and have a work to do in real life. I'll try to finish my job as soon as possible.

I used the editor on level 4, and thankfully it syncs perfectly. After that, however, it turned out that pearl bouncing operates randomly, so every sub-stages I used pearl bouncing need to be redone. Well, still I'm satisfied I can revive some of inputs.

Sorry if I annoyed you, I was overwhelmed by the awesomeness of this speedrun, and temporarily went crazy.

Wait a minute, is that Conway's Game of Life on 2:46-2:48(YTP)? Oh, FractalFusion, you are such a sensible genius!

You should have posted this on April's Fool, what a amazing, fabulous TAS! I love it when someone makes 'music move' in his TAS, and this is going to be one of my favorites. Happy pi day, anyway. Here's a reward for you.

Oh wait, feos, does this game perform properly on FBA-RR for you? As I said at first, the emulator shows lots of crashes whenever I played it. You know, the rule indicates that a movie of the game which is not emulated well is unacceptable. All efforts are meaningless before solving this problem.

This game is very complicated system about stages, which makes trying to TAS the game so hard. The constituent stages of each world varies depending on which order the player entered a world by. That's why I ask him about world order. The game features six world, so theorically there are 6!=720 cases by which the game is played. But, in fact, the game actually doesn't have totally new stages by order. I assume the game has at most 12 stages by world, and picks some of them to make a combination of each world. So the number of actual stages I presume is no more than 72. That's still many, but not impossible to test all. Besides, to go through all these order, you just have to play 6 times like this: 1-2-3-4-5-6 6-1-2-3-4-5 5-6-1-2-3-4 4-5-6-1-2-3 3-4-5-6-1-2 2-3-4-5-6-1 I've been interested in TASing this game, so Remzi, I may help you work on this if you want.

Castlevania speedruns always leave me in total confusion. I like this sort of feeling. Big Yes from me.

Couldn't remember previous run, so I had to watch it twice(each encode you posted). Very brilliant to break the game even further. Easy yes here.

So 4 frames actual improvement? Enough to obsolete current published run.

Not 100% sure, but I think world 2-1 can be beaten faster by this strategy. World 3-5 & 5-6 also seem to have potential improvement for me.

However no one posted improvement suggestions, and without that we can't reject the run that is thought to be suboptimal.
Actually I do have something to post, I found a shortcut in very first level(world 1-1). https://www.dropbox.com/s/fpewqeyq7dgac51/PenBrosTAS%201-1%20test.fbm?m Check out this movie I've just fixed. I used new strategy to boost penguin's speed, which led me to goal 20 frames faster. I think it's possible to optimize at least 5 frames more if I redo the whole level.

Okay, I tried several times to attach old input to new one, resulting in nothing but desync. I'm sure this is because stage 3 is very laggy so that even a single change on input will mess up everything. I'm going to redo stage 3 and try editting on stage 4.

Still no other comment? Hmm, I think this deserves more interests.

1. The sound issues seem fairly emulator-specific. GGPO-FBA, my personal emulator of choice, doesn't seem to suffer from the issues that FBA-RR does.
You used FBA-RR anyway... So you've known this glitch, but just push forward nonetheless?

Watched the whole thing, that various bomb stomping tricks are just awesome! Every part of the movie was entertaining, even though you had to beat same stage twice in lots of case. There's no doubt that this should be published with at least moon tier. Nice job, zvsp! You've made my day.

Along with SmashManiac's comment, I rather hope you to notify every actual improvement like chart, the amount of frames stage by stage. Or did you?

I checked the option you've suggested, but got desynced again. Maybe I should try this on Windows XP, but since I don't know how to use VM, I'll just wait someone else verifies it. Thanks for encode, anyway. Now let's move to other issue. Why doesn't it present any sounds? Actually this is crucial problem; there's even a precedent which was rejected for same reason.

I just tried watching this TAS, and it suddenly got desynced about at 3m 40s. Maybe because I'm using Windows 7? The game also didn't present any sound effect while watching TAS.

TASing the older version doesn't seem odd to me if it was one of commercial versions, DKC any% speedrun also used older one to use a warp glitch and no one didn't bother by it. Anyway, VVVVVV was one of games on my 'want-to-see' list and your speedrun didn't disappoint me. Yes vote.

You mean editting movie file by hex editor? Hmm, I'll check VBA wiki and figure out how to do it.

There was no thread for this game, so I decided to make one. Let me start with some searchs I've made last few week. Current world record is 1:31:49 by Ucpro, which is done with GC version. There's also a forum in SDA for this game, where lots of tricks are stated and still new tricks are constantly being discovered. Below is a demonstration of incredible tricks I found there. Notice some of them are abandoned in RTS because of its difficulty. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NidgDjB5D40 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jIwCloulJzg This game was done in AGDQ 2012, too(but not sure it was GC). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LB5cFONXRic

You know what, I just found a critical mistake on stage 3. A textbox in the beginning can be skipped 21 frame earlier. Now I have to start it from here. Aw....
