Really, regardless of what you think of CotM it came closest. Yes, it isn't that hard, but I actually died some in that game. That game proved you could have a leveling system in a action game, and still have it at least semi difficult. This arguement is moot if you blatantly abuse the level system though. You'd have to really try hard to though. I do think you don't need a leveling system to make a great game. Look at Metroid. I'd prefer they go back to making stage by stage games with multiple routes like Rondo though. They also should have one spirit helper you can take with you like CV3. Edit: I should also mention this only applies to CotM if you don't use glitches or play on easier a mode.

What kind of necro post is that? It served no purpose.

If you have to CC then most likely it isn't worth it.

Well I'm sure 95% of the people here will agree this isn't SDA+Tools, so I can understand why there are standards. There really isn't an excuse to have a bad quality AVI when you aren't encoding from a VHS tape. Also when the quality of play is the most of important thing as long as you can tell what's going on. (How it is on SDA from my understanding.)

It's hard to get more when you're so anal about quality and certain standards. I know this is normally not a bad thing, but as a result we don't get more encoders because of this, and therefor the site is more stagnant. Some people have trouble encoding something that well, let alone get it to work at all. I've tried it, and I know it isn't easy. It's just some people just have trouble with things like that.

It's possible, but you would lose some damage, but it would save more time spent walking. I don't remember when you get it or what level you can use it though. In conclusion, I have no idea. :\

Looks okay so far, but this is a test run right? If it isn't you shouldn't keep mistakes like going into that random battle on the way to Garland.

Check out the newest MKT Combo video. There is some crazy stuff in this one. I don't think you should copy it exactly though. Try to be original and use that video as a guideline.

Forgot to comment here. I liked it mainly because I've never seen Super/Hyper Knuckles (or any character for that matter) before. The level of play was pretty awesome too. Blah blah boring bonus stages Yes vote.

I watched it. Seemed good enough, but I saw you got in 1 random battle on the way to Garland. If you watch Tafatt's run he doesn't get into any fights. You should be able to avoid all fights by walking in slightly different pattern before a fight. I could be wrong and it was quicker getting into a fight and running than moving differently or delaying some, but yeah.

If SM 100% comes out of nowhere like this too soon, he should be a Ninja for sure.

I thought that having no weapons on a Monk was obvious. Well, make sure you take off his armor as well as you get more defense with nothing on. There are a few exceptions, such as some armlets. Basically his stamina determines his defense.

I don't think you can get a pre-emp on the pirates. It's like a mini boss fight.

Well, unless you can LV to 15 fast it might not be worth getting Haste. Atleast till later. The lowest possible level is 25 (If you avoid all possible randoms). You'd probably be about 15 halfway through the game. Edit: I was fooling around playing and I think BM's might be better afterall. I mean they do more damage (My BM did 40 some damage vs Garland opposed to 19 with the RM.), but the thing is RM's get white spells and don't have craptastic HP like the BM does. If you could actually keep them from dying and letting your monk take the hits you might be better off with them. Also, I don't think you need white spells that bad anyway.

Why don't you buy thunder for all of them? You shouldn't be attacking physically with anyone other than your Monk. You also should be able to buy and use Temper right after you kill the pirates in the second town. I don't remember what level you have to be to use haste though. Edit: You would of course also want sleep on one of them. Another spell that might be worthwhile is blink. You might be able to manipulate it so you don't get hit every time.

So I guess you're using a Monk & 3 RM's then? Be sure to post WIP's and I'll be sure to comment on them.

I think the best TAS party would be 1 Monk and 3 Red Mages. Monks hit harder than anything, and save you much money. This party should be the best for boss fights, and you should be running from all randoms. You should have your Monk being your designated attacker, and the other 3 RM's should be Temper and Hasting. Temper stacking + Haste = dead bosses fast. You shouldn't have to class change either. Edit: If you don't get enough XP for a Monk to be worth it, just use a Fighter and 3 RM's then.

I support this. I'd say if this game wasn't released on the Genesis and instead on the SNES, we'd have a good TAS on this site already. That's what I think atleast..

This game sucks compaired to MKT, but it's still fairly entertaining, and not really long. Midway was really stupid for making it so you can't use the Morphed characters fatality. It also sucks how they limit combos like that. I do have a question though. Don't all the characters have a fatality with the weapon they're using? I didn't see it in the test run. I also think it will be best to spread the fatalitys out rather than do them all ASAP. Anyway, I look forward to the real run.
