Also I WILL be able to test thing properly if someone makes a code to die wherever I want, so like seriously, someone needs to do that <_<
If you set your HP to 0 via RAM watch does that kill you or do you actually have to take damage to die?

lol, if you look real close you can see some white letters after what he said. I'm currently encoding it now, almost ready for submission. :)

On today's episode of twitch.tv/thesundaysequencebreak, the submitter of this run for this game claims his route is faster than the TAS. Is this true or due to a timing difference? Link to video

If the startup setup screen is not particularly complicated, someone skilled in assembly could probably edit the program so that instead of starting with that screen it immediately proceeds as though it had already happened. (Not me though, I don't know a thing) EDIT: The other thing you can try is contacting the developer of the game and asking how hard it would be to do. Maybe they still have the source code and it will be a 5 minute job, who knows until you ask? http://www.pistegamez.net/index.html

But I have problem because game have on start setup window, where i can select resolution, music options and language (and it freezes up, so i can't do anything :( ). Does Hourglass support this windows?
Hourglass does not currently support any native Windows UI controls (drop down menus, checkboxes, etc). If you are not sure, post a screenshot.

A non-arbitrary reason to create a 'no damage' TAS? Sounds awesome!

You could team up with someone who's experienced in the game and collaborate on finding the best route for TAS.

Has anyone suggested The Mutant Virus: Crisis in a Computer World? It's a game about Conway's Game of Life replicating and taking over the room, but each cell born is the same colour as the majority of its parents, you can paint cells blue and if no green cells are left you beat the room. It's a diabolically tough game due to how hard it is to predict the cellular automata will act in the future. http://www.electricfrankfurter.com/2011/07/top-30-hardest-nes-games-ever-day-22.html

The rules are 1) If there are more time saving glitches in some versions than others, pick the version with the most 2) If the different versions are like different difficulty levels, then pick the hardest 'difficulty level' (UNLESS being on a harder difficulty level just adds repetition and tedium to the viewer experience, then play on the easiest difficulty level) 3) If you haven't chosen yet pick US

The branch for this movie seems to be "Glitched, Impossible". But what would be considered the glitched run features? Room skips? Death+invincibility? Both? What would any% run be allowed to do?
I would use the Glitchless category here: http://iwbtgrta.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page as the basis for a Glitchless TAS.

Also, couldn't this movie end a few seconds earlier? I know you have to dodge the delicious fruit at the end, but it looks like you do so only at the last moment. I've only seen runs of this game on YouTube, but i was under the impression that you regain control of the character sooner than what we see here.
Subjectively the TAS is as fast as it takes to kill The Guy, so this wouldn't change anything.

How are ingredient pickups even coded? Are they sprites? Tiles? A special mapping of co-ordinates to ingredients that is checked by the dog/by the pick up action?

The music was extremely grating in this game but the glitching was very well done.
It seemed like there was some bug in the music - all the PSG channels were off tune relative to all of the FM channels, but all FM channels were fine relative to each other. (All of the dissonant harmonies were between FM and PSG.)

Could the glitch at 20 seconds into this video save time on the Castlevania section? http://www.twitch.tv/tenshotstv/c/2587554 EDIT: Maybe it's not a glitch and just platform momentum physics. EDIT 2: Voted yes, nice glitchhunting and TAS. It amuses me greatly you can die in Impossible and still finish.

You can TAS Secret of Evermore in Bizhawk, or if your computer is not very strong Snes9x 1.51-1.53 is a better choice (because it is more optimized for speed, less optimized for accuracy - but still accurate enough for this game) TASVideos has a guide for making highest quality encodes of TASes. You can view it here: http://tasvideos.org/EncodingGuide.html Any good TASing emulator has a 'dump recording as avi' menu option, and you can run that avi through anything you want to compress, re-encode, etc so that you're not uploading gigabytes of raw footage to youtube. If you just want to get something uploadable asap and aren't too concerned with quality, just get WinFF and run it on the lossless dump.

Why the large stretch from 1:17 to 1:25 where no charging is used?

Well, there's a Warcraft 2 TAS that got published, so crazy things can happen! :) I know that Z is a hard game to beat, but that may or may not be shown off in a TAS especially to people unfamiliar with the game. Could always TAS the stage you'd think the most impressive and encode just that to see what viewer reaction is.

Just realized that Yoshi actually tongues and then spits out the goal ring. Incredible. I really, sincerely hope this sets up a future Yoshi's Island playaround run, akin to the Link's Awakening playaround, like maybe Yoshi could swallow signposts and components of the stage select dialog next.
There's huge potential for a null egg glitch playaround for sure. You can use it to get 'any' sprite in the game into your egg inventory and bring it to 'any' room in the game. I've seen the submarine transformation bubble be bought into Salvo's boss fight.

It seems that the tasvideo forums and the publication http://tasvideos.org/3703S.html report a different length for the movie, the latter being longer.

If you want to make a playaround of a mario game, I recommend Super Mario World. There are an INSANE number of glitches and you could never run out of ways to exploit them if you know enough (see http://www.youtube.com/user/nathanisbored/videos , Some Guy's SMW Challenge series , the game resources page for SMW, ...)

I agree fully - the "Impossible" TAS is a different category from the "Medium" TAS and can't directly be compared.
