So (in theory) the 11-exit RTA with ACE (what used to be called "any%" before the realtime credits glitch method discovery) is defunct?
We've discussed this a lot before. Getting the cloud in your inventory isn't ACE, no data gets executed as code.

So....does the real time runs still use cloud to beat bowser? or do they just complete 3 stages and kill bowser now?
3-exit (with ACE) is a different category from 11-exit (without ACE) is a different category from credits warp (with ACE). The only completed run of 3-exit (with ACE) I've seen is the one I linked.

Is there a thread for SMW romhacks? Link to video Also, the real time credits warp is now under 2 minutes thanks to substantial rerouting by p4 and nathanisbored (and maybe other people, I know a lot ahve worked on it now): Link to video And there's a new silly category where you warp to bowser and kill him, for people who think warping to the credits doesn't count: Link to video

Yeah it's funny that the game is actually more interesting 1 player than 4 player lol. The 1 player system is designed very well for speedtech.

No idea. (But if it works on VC or Gamecube, you could make a TAS on those versions.)

Uhhhhhhhh Ocarina of Time just got completely broken by skater. It causes random corruption of models and other graphical glitches, inventory modification, crashes... http://www.twitch.tv/skater82297/v/3762088 Skip to 1:30:00 in

http://tasvideos.org/MovieRules.html#PlayGamesThatAreEmulatedWell Even if this does turn out to be faster, the TAS will have to be done on GC version using Dolphin. EDIT: Actually, I guess the VC version would be faster... lol
I was thinking about that. An accurate N64 emulator should crash doing this glitch (since N64 crashes doing this glitch), so if a TAS used this route it would have to be a TAS of the VC version somehow.

Recca TAS sounds great. This is one of the most notable shmups of its era, and on the NES period. It has scoring and speedkill systems worth showing off and a bunch of different modes. There should be a lot of high level play videos on youtube and nicovideo if you poke around.

I like how the bot identified unknown items by remembering their prices seen at shops, like a savant.
This is actually a really effective way to identify items in real time play, though a bot is of course flawless at doing it, whereas a player will usually need a helper program.

mxzrules compiled a spreadsheet: http://forums.zeldaspeedruns.com/index.php?topic=1785.0 Btw it seems to crash on iQue. If it can't be done on iQue, It's no longer the fastest version for any%! EDIT: It works in Oot3D Link to video

New glitch is something like 'Wrong Item' or 'Item Collection Delay'. Tompa's explanation: http://pastebin.com/FqqFQLvA Zfg1's explanation: http://pastebin.com/69Jkkp6r Skater is investigating it on his stream: http://www.twitch.tv/skater82297

How could a TAS optimization task be done by writing lua scripts? I can write anything you want, or disasm this to death, but I thought it wouldn't help.
Maybe brute forcing? The conditions are easy enough - you want to go overall left until a certain position, then overall right until a certain position, and if either guy dies you load an earlier state and try something different.

It sounds like you guys should frame-war over a simple track/mission until you have the optimal racing lines with quick dashing down pat. The best proof of optimality is a time the other person can't beat, after all!

I guess I should say, content that affects how you interact with the game. So purely visual/audio changes not counting. But if it gets harder, the TAS should stop when the difficulty will never increase again.

I'm more interested in the TAS stopping when there is no new content (difficulty stops increasing). e.g. if there was a Pac-Man [Arcade] TAS, I would want it to stop at the highest difficulty level rather than at the kill screen.

There are 2^64 (18,446,744,073,709,551,616) possibilities to try, and we have to try them all until one of them produces valid-looking machine code.
When do you think you will finish? If you can test 2^32 possibilities per second, it will take you over a century to finish.
