We will not publish a run if the author does not want it to be published, even if the license technically allows it. Common courtesy and respect towards the submission author's wishes overrule the letter of the law in this case.
What happens if someone takes the run, modifies it slightly, and then submits it? It will be like 99% identical, and the license allows doing that. Would it be published? If not, then what if it used 50% of the original? 20%? Where's the limit?
Judges are human beings, not computers. If it's obviously just an attempt to submit the same work as masterjun, it won't be accepted. If it demonstrates something NOVEL (not just some frames saved in the 'gameplay' portion, for example) then we can re-evaluate.

Does the pokemon that you obtain with this glitch count in the pokedex?
Yes. As far as the game is concerned it IS that pokemon. (I don't know if it's the hatching that makes it get recorded in the pokedex or not, if that's what you mean.)

This run should be invalidated, because it does the exact opposite of what it should be doing on console. (thank you double dribble, you will not be missed) Instead of skipping to credits, this skips to the fucking PRESS START screen on a real NES. I'll edit the post with more drama and charged words later to make everyone feel better. edit: this is also one of the few runs with my new hardware; I can verify with my old hardware later but the run syncs and even does something to get back to the start screen so I imagine it's syncing fine...
Have you tried other Megaman TASes in console verification, and what are the results of those?

Atlas encodes aren't something you can just make with a script, they're extensive efforts.
Can I have a reference? I didn't know about any memes with that phrase :D
I don't have a reference, but the origin is that during a great 120 star Super Mario 64 speedrun on his twitch account, siglemic typed during a pause in the action 'this is the urn!!!' in the chat, typoing 'run' as 'urn'. Due to the atmosphere of the run and the thousands of people chat it was funny enough to instantly become a meme.

It's just the nature of Dolphin that encodes without sound are a LOT easier to make than encodes with.

I believe Mr. K started a TAS of this game. Or maybe it was the sequel?

I can't help with the programming (at least not right now), but I can test new revisions if they need someone to do that.
From the FAQ ( https://github.com/bunnei/citra/wiki/FAQ ), they don't need testers yet (for lack of things to test, mainly!).

Have you considered doing like this: 1) Make a 'test run' TAS of the full game where you focus on going fast, having no mistakes, all techniques included, etc. to see what the final product should aim to beat. (Optionally do glitch hunting/technique hunting/find optimal movement patterns here.) 2) Do the final TAS where every frame you can is squeezed out. You can compare against testrun TAS to see how much each section is improving by.

Any chance of seeing these TASes get submitted? Has anyone ever tried contacting these players and seeing if they'd like to submit their runs here?
Tasvideos does not accept PS2 submissions until the state of PS2 TASing improves.

Shiren Gaiden? The way the UI, item, item curse, monster room, dungeon layout, and other stuff are designed, remind me a lot of Torneko no Daibōken: Fushigi no Dungeon(on SNES and he's known for some weird glitch as well), but with more level and without fan-translation available, while the second has those.
Yup. The game you're thinking of is a spinoff of the Shiren the Wanderer: Mysterious Dungeon series, of which this game is one of the mainline.

I wonder if would be possible to execute arbitrary code in this game? Set players to 8, all human, random letters, time limit, game editor, convert human to computer, etc. and have 4 controllers.
Why would that let you execute arbitrary code? Usually to do ACE you need to find a crash, such that the crash is because it reads data in RAM that is somewhat under your control as code. So find a crash or heavy corruption bug, and then come back.

PS2 TASing is awful atm so don't expect the quality of a submittable TAS until that changes.

It is for Windows and Dreamcast. Japanese Wikipedia page A japanese 'wikia' for this game The Windows-exclusive 99 floor dungeon 'Urajiro Sashima' ( http://asuka.lsx3.net/?%CE%A2%C7%F2%BC%D8%C5%E7 ) has some interesting TASes. The former for its wide variety of techniques and the latter for being broken. We'll get to that ;) First: Link to video This TAS stays at level 1 the entire dungeon and uses a wide variety of techniques to move around the level and escape from enemies. RNG manipulation is possible by waiting turns and by moving in a different way, and there are many close calls. The main technique for getting around is the Pakorepukin Bracelet (based on this monster: http://asuka.lsx3.net/?%A5%E2%A5%F3%A5%B9%A5%BF%A1%BC#pakorepu ). It allows you to float over liquid and also pass through walls, but you lose 1 hp whenever you end a turn in a wall. By taking it off in a wall, you are warped to a random tile. Other things commonly used are: -Warp traps/trapdoor traps -Pot of Recovery (to restore HP) -Staff of Decoy (monsters would rather attack the monster that has been turned into your decoy than you) -Staff of Swap -Staff of Paralysis -Staff of Postpone (paralyzes + teleports to the stairs the monster) -=- Link to video Now here is the 'destroyed' TAS, saving a minute using a newly found bug called 'グラキャン' / 'Gurakyan'. Before going into the dungeon this bug is performed. It persists until you restart the game. Some properties of the state in this miniature dungeon are held over into the real dungeon. I don't understand exactly how it works, but: -The first item used is Electric box of ケンゴウ (Swordsman): http://asuka.lsx3.net/?%A5%A8%A5%EC%A5%AD%C8%A2#kengou -The scrolls used are Big Room, Sleep and Traps. And the notable effects are: -Some animations are shortened/removed. -The biggest one of all: A Bigroom Monster House will typically have enemies start out in inactive state. By doing Gurakyan in this specific way, the game will make EVERY Monster House start out in inactive state!! Now he proceeds to the main dungeon and abuses the hell out of the shop by first putting items into a Pot (Jar of Change) that randomly transmutes them to other items. RNG manipulation is explicit. He gets a Scroll of Monster House, a Scroll of Crisis (already blessed?), a Scroll of Traps, a Pot (Vase of Blessing) that blesses items placed into them, a Rice Ball, a Bracelet of 'Thieves' / 盗賊 (Does anyone know what this bracelet does? I can't find it in the wikia). The rice ball and two unblessed scrolls are placed in the Vase of Blessing and broken out. Blessed has a different effect on each item, and I think the effects are the same as in this game: http://shiren.wikifoundry.com/page/Shiren+2+Cursed+vs+Blessed For scrolls, it means they won't disappear after using, but there's a chance they will lose Blessed status. Of course, this is a TAS, so it never disappears! Item descriptions: -Scroll of Traps (creates lots of traps in the room you're in, including trap doors) -Scroll of Crisis (has useful effects when you're in bad situations - kind of like Nethack prayer. Paralyzes enemies if 2 or more are next to you and satisfies your hunger if at 0 for example) -Scroll of Monster House (creates a monster house on the floor, and if it wasn't in the room you're in, teleports you to it. And because of the Gurakyan glitch, monster house enemies are unfairly (to them) inactive!) As you can see from the very first use - the shopkeepers' attempt to prevent you from escaping by guarding the level is useless, because you Monster House - warp to the room with the stairs, and all the enemies created in it due to Gurakyan glitch, including shopkeeper guards. Most levels are solved like this. Ezpz!
