I just lurk and I don't claim to know very much, but doesn't it make more sense to start a fund to fix mupen first, instead of giving money to skilled players working with horrible software? Or is mupen beyond repair and a new TAS-capable emu would have to be built from the ground up?
Mupen is garbage, and not worth fixing. Though on that note, are there any n64 emulators that aren't complete shit? Preferably ones written in c++? I may be interested in implementing rerecording support in an n64 emulator, if there is any worth while.

I've heard alot of people saying Mupen sucks. Other than the frequent desync issues and mess of code, what makes Mupen bad? Sorry, just wanted to know.
I was referring to the messy code. It it is really really bad.

Did you have to do something to get it to work without a movie? It freezes for me either way.

Line 498 of pif.c seems to be the only thing outside of vcr.c that ever depends on whether a movie is active or not (other than inconsequential things like frame counter), and it seems unlikely that that would cause it. Unless that somehow is indeed the cause (i can't check without a save state), i don't have the slightest idea how having a movie active could cause a problem here.

Can you provide a save state at the above area?

What is needed to compile mupen on windows? You've got me interested in looking at this.

I have to ask, What are the major issues with the Gamecube port or VC version of Majora's Mask? Would a custom WAD file be "accepted"?
GC lags like shit, and VC has some weird texture glitch that people dislike Apparently project64 1.6 is gonna be implented into bizhawk at some point.
Probably not, seeing as its legal status is still unknown.

For this game, the verification movie rule is pointless because the save file is used only to "unlock a feature".
No it's not, because without it, we can't prove it doesn't do anything else.

Can you create a new .dtm with a memory card inserted, and send it to me? Also, what game are you having trouble with? Does it work fine for others?
Hmm. I think you have to set that option specifically when playing back, don't you? That is, it's not recorded within the movie file.
It is recorded to the movie file.

Jlun's post is gone, but he's still trying to play the "is it meaningful/entertaining" card. Yes, it's entertaining, it uses some interesting glitches, and beats the final boss in the game. It reminds me alot of this: http://tasvideos.org/3606S.html
These are not even remotely similar.

Both cases are still save corruption.
Eh? Save corruption is perfectly fine on tasvideos. And if i'm understanding correctly, there isn't even any save corruption in this movie?

Voting no for not following the rules. No way to know it's legit (as legit as a run that loads data from another save file can be, that is). Furthermore, it's not even very entertaining.

Did they actually mention my name somewhere in this video? I actually wrote in japanese in the description of the youtube encode, that they are supposed to credit me and link back to the original video. Is that really so hard?
No, but it does link to the regular encode, which has your name on it. Your desire for credit and a link was not retained in the original nico upload, which is probably why the person who made the cutsceneless encode didn't include it.

2) Rog got the 1-2 block clip at full speed I believe, so it should be possible and would save like, half a second, but its worthwhile.
I don't remember if it was full speed, but if not, it was definitely close. It certainly saves time.

Though I imagine a 100% multiplayer TAS would use 4 players even if it did require speed/entertainment tradeoffs.
Personally, unlike most other games with 4 players, I feel like using all 4 players in this game is sort of unnecessary and might even take away from the entertainment. The reason being is that with 4 players, there would be a lot of places (namely, the secret areas with coins) where 2 additional players wouldn't speed anything up because the second player can probably do everything on his own in the small time between the first player entering the pipe and the screen transitioning (as seen in the youtube video).
It does allow for some interesting playaround though.

See http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=325555#325555 for a trick that should save a bit of time in 1-2. You're also still doing the rotating beams wrong. You're lowering it 2 ticks, it's fastest to only move it 1.

Eh? Sliding at the end of the rotating wheels is definitely not faster. You can maintain ~3.2 (i don't remember exactly) speed until you land, by jumping before you get off
