That grue has an iron stomach. It even likes old, rotting submissions! I'm impressed, grue. Very impressed.

*Prays for Ferret Warlord's desktop* --- Anyhoo, little known fact around here: I am a huge Disgaea fan. Here is your proof: http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h59/rickcressen/laharl_desktop.jpg If you also noticed that I have a couple of pics of the Scout from the first game, congrats! Reason being: I'm getting together a Scout costume for Halloween/Anime Cons. Yes, I love cosplay. Feel free to haze at your leisure now.

As far as my other run was, not very because there weren't really any random elements to manipulate. It just took a boatload of patience. My first concern is actually the end of the Prologue level with the ship. Mostly just making sure both X and the ship are in the correct spots. I don't know if it'd be too difficult, but I'm more concerned with the ship than X.

Perhaps if this run is published, there could be some translation of what's going on like in the Youkai Douchuuki AVI. Abstaining until I actually get a chance to watch this later.

Not yet. It's a bit stalled at the moment because of my own life (I'm working about 12 hour days now for most of the week), but I'm gonna try to get back to it as soon as I can. I think what I'll do is just do things WIP by WIP and see how it goes. That way, people can beat me over the head with "You're doing it wrong!" quotes and offer suggestions from there. It's how I pulled off Ghoul School.

Pretty far off still, but you never know, really. Hell, maybe someone would come up and be able to find a way to screw with Where's Waldo, Color a Dinosaur, Home Alone, or something to win the game early and have it utterly bizarre. I dunno, but you never know, I suppose.

I just like how the single player version is able to blow through things without the need of a second player. It may be a little longer, but I still think it gets the job done almost as well as if he did have a second player handy. As far as blowing through things quickly was concerned, I didn't feel bored watching the video at all, nor did I really notice the extra length of the video. I think the only blip in the entertainment now that I think back on it again, is just that elevator part in stage four. It's only a minor complaint though that I think, if someone did again, could just be easily corrected. I'm not chalking it up to too much, though. In the grand scheme of things, I can overlook an entertainment blip a lot easier than a speed blip.

Find some way to make the Disgaea port interesting and I'll be a happy camper.

There were a couple of small places I felt could have used a different choice or two in terms of entertainment (Most notably the first elevator ride in Level 4), but in terms of everything else, this is really well-polished and has a lot of fun going along with it. The bosses were destroyed surprisingly fast for having just one player shoot them up and some of the bits, such as in level 1 where it was waited until the very last second to kill the enemies from behind, was rather amusing to me. It seems to have a lot of hard work put into it and not just sloppy thrown-together garbage in it, so I have to give this one a thumbs-up for publication.

Here's to hoping that some new runs get published outta this one, now! Perhaps someone could make a list of the full zombie submissions?

If the Super C 1-Player run was optimized well, I say then put it in its own category. I mean, aren't there three for Contra as we speak? I don't think there'd be any harm in it, in my own personal opinion. http://tasvideos.org/1660S.html

Holy crap, you did it. You definitely deserve a pat on the back just for getting it done in under two hours. Good job!

Mr. FinalFighter these ones are pretty funny. We really should to destroy the whole game and let it feel the wrath of ours ;)
Hasn't that been done the last couple of TASes anyway? :p

Personally, I'd like to throw the Abadox run into the hat. http://tasvideos.org/1168S.html I know it's one of those autoscrollers like Gradius, but I think this one had a lot of effort, time, and entertaining tricks put into it. The game itself is incredibly difficult under normal circumstances, so it does add a little to the value of the run, in my opinion. Normally I'd let it slide, but I think this one deserves a posting, totally. If anything, at least, I was entertained by it. And on a side note, I still say the boss of the fourth level is massively creepy; if nothing else, the SFX does it for me. *Shudder*

If used in Legend of Zelda as a way of killing off all the Pol's voices, would a microphone be allowed for use in a TAS if it existed? I'm just curious, is all.

I did want to say, I have a small start to this run. I'm only at 800 frames right now. I plan to do some more research (much more) before I jump ahead and work more with it. I'd like to know some smaller details, such as if jumping is slower than walking, how many frames screen transitions take, basic stuff like that. I also plan to follow dezbeast's route for the first two stages (Chill Penguin, Boomer Kuwanger), but I'm not entirely sure where I plan to go from there. I'll be needing a lot of help on this one. This is only my second TAS here, and I'm takin' on a big job here.

I had the highly-recognizable username of Rick L. I know, everyone sees it. :p I dunno, I never really had any nicknames or anything like that growing up, so I didn't really take to one when I came online either. Hence, why I always use my own first name.

I think we did it about the same way, FW. I'm not sure I actually responded to the post or anything though, so I can't really say "Oh, did you see me there?! :D" I don't think you would remember if I even did, though. It's been a while.

Phoenix Wright. ...I'm kidding, I'm kidding. Yeah, I wouldn't mind seeing UMK3 done on the DS, nor would I mind seeing the ZX games TASed as well. I think it's safe to say that it'll get done eventually, with the popularity of Mega Man in this forum and all (myself included heavily, I mean 'c'mon! Look at my avatars! :p).

I'm not going to fault you on it, Warp. Even if you did go a bit overboard, you did feel you have a right to be concerned and that's alright. You were looking out for the site in your own way, and in that respect, I do find it admirable. Two different ways of love for the site, though they clashed. It's unfortunate that there was a lot of fighting, but I think things are going to be better for it. Perhaps maybe you could give TASing this a try, even? I'd like to see what you can do with this.

Oh yes, and the reaction is similar between people who rag on pro wrestling (It's fake!) and TASes ("It's cheating!" or "It's fake!"). I was hoping someone would bring something like that up so I could make that final point. Thank you, Derakon. :D

You know, I've always found an interesting parallel. Regular speedruns and TASes are like regular wrestling (amateur, olympics, etc.) and professional wrestling. One strives for skills, the other strives for entertainment. Even though both involve the same main term, both are quite different from each other. That's usually how I explain a TAS to someone that's never heard of it before, and explain that it's a different style of speedrunning altogether.

Like the others, thanks ShinyDoofy, for your commitment to publishing. We definitely appreciate what you've done, and I'm sure if you wanted to come back to it again, there'd be no trouble, I hope.

Edit: Well, adelikat already explained his thing before I finished posting this, so yeah. If this should be deleted, just ask and it shall be done. -------- I do indeed see what your argument is, Warp. As far as I'm gathering, you're furious that adelikat made his own TAS, then published it and posted it before there could be a timely consensus with everybody on the matter, am I correct? If this is the case, I don't think that this was done maliciously. I agree that the run was kind of rough and may not have been the best choice to be the first showing of TASes of DS games, but I think that adelikat just jumped the gun a bit ethically some in order to promote the site. I've seen a lot of people screwing around with positions of power on a community and heard a lot more horror stories as it pertains to that also. However, I don't believe that the breach of etiquette was a malicious act toward the community. I think adelikat, in other aspects, has stepped up quite well in assisting with both site operation and TAS emulator development. From what I've seen so far, he's not seemed to be arrogant or mean-spirited about matters. Was what he did questionable? Of course. Do I think it was purposefully mean? Not really. I think he had the betterment of the community in mind, it just came out wrong. Seems like an honest mistake to me, and I don't feel as if I should fault him for it. If there's anything that I haven't clarified here, let me know and I'll do the best that I can to fix that up. I fully admit that I'm not a great arguer, but I just wanted to see if I understood your concerns properly and give my point of view of the matter.
