just found out this fan site : http://nintendoforever.free.fr/SNes/PushOver/PushOver_index.php it include a full solution (with screenshots) of the game, yeah in french sorry (I could help translate those), but you could gather ideas from there. or better, get the znes movies the author ran (live) of the levels. pal (E) version. some solutions are really interesting. since I had the (original) atari st version (bought in 92 >_<), I did not know that the 91st level was different on snes, and so tricky to solve (capture running tumblers on the fly). but yeah, some levels have many solutions, hard to minimize time.

seems great ! I actually found a link in this topic to a more recent version (released) of the mod : http://www.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=309059 Bisqwit, would it be possible to add it to the forums ?

fantastic ! and I thought I would have to prepare myself to take care of this, if I wanted to see it finished. could you please post a WIP, Burning Death ? anyway, this is great news. actually, this topic is one of the reason I registered on those forums (and my first post). thanks a lot !

psycho fox is very hard to play, since the moment of the movements is very annoying, but you could get a very fast speed and a very fast paced movie with tools. I'd also like to see golvellius and dragon's trap, not that exciting RPGs or much potential for tas, but I'd like to see them beaten since I played them. (even a speedrun would be enough, in fact).

...though upon further looking, just enter a space into the normal search form and select "All posts from last "whenever"". Alternatively save a copy of the page.
both don't work. the first one just gives no answer. you cannot submit a blank keyword. I suppose it's to prevent the search engine to give back the list of every topic. my request could be fulfilled just by removing this condition. the second one is not possible, because it often hangs before I can save. alternatively, IE (yeah, no comment U_U) refuses to save it. Firefox too... when I have enough time to save, once I rebooted, the links don't work anymore (since they're just the number of the topic + "newest" keyword. clicking on those just produces a "no post found") but I might program a script to quickly download and parse the page. the typical scenario is the following : I last connected at moment t1 (usually day before). at moment t2 I connect to the forums : "last visit" is now at t1, and "now" is at t2. I go to the "search posts since last visit", and the page gives me every topic updated between t1 and t2. on each topic, there's a small orange icon that points me to the first new post. I just open those pages and proceed to read them. the main problem is that the list is always very long (30+ topics over the night) and that my computer hangs before I can finish the reading. once I came back, "last visit" is now at t2, "now" is at t3 which is very close to t2 so there is no new post to be found. manual search is very tedious (especially when it's every day, sometimes several times within my session here). the automatic reset is indeed annoying.

thanks, I did not know it existed. I will try that.

You (SXL) should do something about your PC though. That kind of mental stress can't be healthy.
let me describe you the technical issue : my PC hangs zero to several times (up to 5, usually never less than once) during the following hours after it gets booted (mainly during mornings...). I could not find any pattern ; just that it mostly happens during the connection to thoses forums, since it is where I spend the most time when I do my daily messages harvest. so IE seems to be at fault, but not always. so basically it just "freezes randomly". searching such a cause gives of course no (exploitable) answers on Google. I gave up since I believe I have found the cause. I have one of the oldest PC here. most pieces are from december 2000. maybe they're just dying. the "get a new comp dude !" usual answer isn't funny. unless you folks help me gathering the money.

heya, I'm an extensive user of the "view posts since last visit" feature of those forums. it provides links to all posts (by topic) of what is new since last time ; basically, you can read everything without having to look for it. Unfortunately, due to technical problems, I keep losing this page (my PC reboots before I finish reading all the topics) every day, and I have to go hunting forum by forum for new topics/posts. I would like to know if it would be possible to enhance the Search function of the forums, to add a date criteria (like : every topic updated since 24h, 2 days, 1 week, or more precise like min/max). also, would it be possible to make it look like the "since last visit" page, that is, a list of topics with links to both last post ever, and first post since that date/time. I have no knowlegde of phpBB so I don't know if plugin doing such a feature already exists and could be added. thanks in advance.

I cannot say if sms/gg games are better, since I never had a (s)nes, but since I know sms classics, I'd definetely want to see them on video. actually, I made a similar request in that topic : http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2363 to sum it up : Jyzero did for us the Gens enhanced emulator. he took the .212 source code and added the tas functionalities (savestates management, input rerecording, etc.). later, nitsuja improved it for the community. unfortunately, both gave up on the project. meanwhile, the gens+ coder improved his own emulator, without the tas functionalities, that he does not want/like (aka the "cheat hater leitmotiv"). his emulator became the new gens and reached the .961 version, adding both sms/gg emulation. what we would need now, would be to find a coder to add again the tas functionalities to the last gens+ version. it has already been done, so I'm asking if it would that complicated to do ? (yeah I know coders have a life u_u) another solution would be to find another sms emulator with source code, understand how it works and add what's missing. basically, we need a new hero ! come save us and you will have... the community's gratitude, as well as the guarantee to see the sms classics done. thanks in advance. PS : I hope my post won't kill the request like last time U_U;;;

well, you have tools, use them to own the game, do not let the game own/scare you... (besides, it's in the rules, and it indeed looks better) as for difficult games done, look at the Toki (juju densetsu) tas. now that's something insane...

the problem of removing obsoleted movies from the torrent would remain. the tracker owner might as well provide one torrent for the whole collection, updated by himself.

if you have actually such knowledge, which impresses me a lot, would you be able to take on the (whole) development of the gens with rerecording/savestates project ? I'm guessing you lack free time to work on such a large project, but since all coders that were on it seem to have given up (nitsuja, jyzero, our heroes, namely), it'd be great if someone was still willing to take care of it. I know nothing about gens coding, but since you're able to import the tas features to the original gens sources, even if it's on linux, maybe you could try to do the same to gens+ v.961 ? the main interest would be sms/gg emulation, which we desperately need ;_; (if possible under windows...) anyway, kudos on your work, it's nice to see that there are still dedicated coders on such emulators :)

please remember that most people never owned most of those consoles, and never played most of those games (me, for instance). so, please refrain from suggesting games that must have been played to follow/appreciate, as the dragon warriors series for example. I like the sonic runs, very fast paced, sonic advance 2 is the most impressive, what "inhuman" really means to me. zelda 1 is a must (insane fighting and shortcuts). bisqwit's megaman 1 run, to show what the word "glitch" can stand for. I might recommand dkc1 and smw2 too, lots of tricks. let me ask a question though. what should be the difference between the starred movies and the "top" movies ? since my "top" choices are often already starred, I'd suppose it'd be true as well for other people.

"nice" ?!?! seriously dude, this has to be the longest post I've ever seen. congrats to the author, and also to all of those that have the patience to read it entirely. too bad this game is another "must have played extensively to appreciate" candidate :( eventually a good tas might arise from this.

However there is one question: Should we make a exception for this game and use a SRAM save-file ONLY to have the 150cc mode enabled because without one you can only play on 100cc and this is slower and surely not that entertaining and hard.
I would start from this SRAM. It has the gold medals necessary to unlock 150cc mode (which I agree would be better to play than 100cc mode) and nothing else, no time trial times and especially not anything that can affect your racing capabilities or increase the speed the game starts up (because there is no such thing that can be in the SRAM). I think if the resulting movie is entertaining enough then an exception would be made for it, and if you're going to make this movie (and I hope you do) then of course you'd want to make it entertaining anyway.
good luck zodd ^^;;

caucasian is the main white ethnic group. Caucasia are mountains between Europe (west side) and Russia (east side). since "occident" means west in latin, occidentals = caucasians. so you're basically white. ok, that's the worst ethnic class ever. please don't take it too seriously, its accuracy is as good as my tas skills (look at my submissions to understand... yeah, there's none U_U)...

other emulators have avi support since a while (psx, cps2...) but recording (reliably) input is much more complicated than recording output. we might have to wait a long time before seeing additionals systems in the list of this site... unless we find very motivated and skilled coders :)

could a coder please implement the functions needed for TAS, present in gens9f, into the current (961) gens+ emulator ? the last version has its source code available, and supports sms/gg games, which would be a much requested feature. I've read that the gens+ author (contacted by Jyzero, if my memory is good) does not like those features, and does not wish to implement them himself. since Jyzero is the author of gens9f, he would be the best choice, unfortunately he hasn't had time since a while to update his version. I'm asking if there would be a kind-enough coder, with enough free time and knowledge, to cook us a sms/gg rerecording emulator, from gens+/gens9f or any other base. currently the only solution is DrSMS, sms emulator for gba (hence usable within vba), but it's not approved. thanks in advance, and let's hope that the classics could be done someday, not too far from now ;)

it's included in ffdshow... just look at the end of the options. you can set the range, the export type (jpeg, png...) ; powerful and most chances are that you already have it if you're watching the movies here...

you kill so many enemies, that it looks you're looking for a 100% kills. meanwhile, some enemies are spared and it's not always easy to understand why you didn't kill them whereas you had enough time to do it. as for the gem goal : it's rather a question of taste. I guess that many users here are used to the usual "fastest" objective, and the "s" of tas means speedrun... so your run is rather in the "aesthetics" category which is very subjective. if you had run for time as the main goal, you'd have clearly helped voters in your favor. I haven't watch the full version yet, but the WIP was fun and there was lots of action, more than many tas already published, so...

ok, since I was really interested by this game, I went on and watched it, and really enjoyed it. I cannot tell if it's as fast as possible, sometimes it does not feel like, but the gems hunt is interesting. style looks great, evades collisions at last possible moment, colorful, a very funny and nice looking movie. I just wonder sometimes why you missed or spared some enemies, except that it's a great work, lots of action ! please finish and submit this ;)

just a short post to prevent you to think that no one is interested in your making of this movie ; I am, and I believe it's a good choice, even though I did not watch it yet. continue posting updates, eventually someone qualified will help you, and don't feel lonely in this topic ;)
