to solve the age problem, you could sort that list not by a global downloads counter, but by a downloads per month counter. this way it would work with every movie, in both orders.

the tabs on tasvideos.org work with IE6, but those of your avatar mod don't. I'm not exactly sure where the former are located, since I mainly browse the site with this "buggy" browser and hence don't see many tabs...

I wonder why someone would need an opensource program while this person cannot use google by himself... compiling an IRCd would be 100 times harder !

you can buy your own .cx domain for a cheap price. usually used by geeks then, a large part of this site's audience.

No, I watched it on some chinese site. Don't remember which. It was not this: http://www.quixoticals.com/2007/04/most-frustrating-super-mario-mod-ever.html -- this is not chinese.
double-clicking on this embedded flash will also bring you to the same chinese site (tudou.com). both topics point to the same site. now on to find the hack...

I had to watch the walkthrough on youtube (search "dwarf lfun2") to solve the most difficult screens (51 min :/). as the author, the famous http://www.eyezmaze.com/ says, the game is not meant to be played alone since it's "middle-high level", but rather played within a community. if you're stuck, don't hesit to ask, we'd gladly help.

will you try to propose the features that would need to be (re)worked to the dosbox team ? they're the best placed to know how to alter properly the parts you mentioned. long live to dosbox-rerecording :D

the video is located in china, on a very distant and slow server. it took me several hours to let the download finish. I suggest you try getting this outside china's peek hours (read : local evening). the player is rather good and incredibly patient, but some screw-ups tend to get old after a while. this is interesting and has TAS potential. I'd watch a TAS of it.

I spell most acronyms in my own language, which cannot be re-transcribed, since the phonems just don't exist in english (take just "a", "e", "r" for examples). This is also true for my nickname, and I wonder how you guys spell it (ess hicks ell like me ?).

easiest would be a java client, but I could not find one directly on freenode's website. no install, no configuration. there are free ones out there. once you'll get used to IRC, knowing how to change network/channel etc., you might want to try a regular IRC client, and mirc or xchat won't look complicated anymore.

huh, the topic's title does say "realtime". your idea defeats that. antd, are you sure you have the same combination of software/codecs ? did you tweak any parameter ?

use a proxy, and/or fix the port that your bt client will use to a non filtered port. I know it can be done, but I could not explain you how, since it's very complicated, and it highly depends on your computer and the way your isp connects you to the net, your software... hopefully, one of the numerous geeks of those forums will post a detailed answer shortly.

if we could not provide the game's file in a zip, maybe could we insert a crc/sfv file of the whole game's directory. if crc of a file is ok but last modified time is not, just change it. basically, a program that tries to make your version of the game resembles exactly like the one in the movie.

you can mix both... a new page next to the "why/how", having chapters with several embedded youtube short clips. better than Bisqwit's gifs, and it won't eat any bandwith. that would help people reading those pages (why/how and the tutorial), since we all know that the general public prefer accompagnying demonstrations from just raw text. a more modern wiki IMHO... ;)

true, but showing how TAS are done, on an online video site (read : youtube/googlevideo), would prevent newcomers from being misinformed (the usual "cheaters !" comment). tutorials are not only for players beginning TASing, they could be some use for watchers too, and even more to the general public. it would help the site to go broader than its usual, somewhat limited niche. but I second that the website lacks real docs, a very detailed "how to do your first TAS" for some emulators. I'm quite sure there are many, many other people like me, who feel lost and discouraged to even start a TAS, and the players pool would quickly welcome a lot more people if things were explained at a lower, easier level.

don't forget basic stuff. save state, record frame by frame, note number of frame when reaching end of area, rewind, try better. it's not that easy because you must always remind how to avoid desynchs, etc. I find it the hardest part of TAS learning, not only because it's tedious, but complicated. I would really appreciate a detailed video tutorial of such things, and I guess most beginners would too.
