Months after... the 150 stars route has completely changed. The main change is that we've swapped the 2nd floor trips to unlock Wario early in order to do BBH in only 1 trip as Mario, whereas you would normally need 2 trips because of the red coin star needing Wario in BBB. Also, The Secret under the Moat is faster as Mario (by clipping inside the black brick) and doesn't need Luigi's cap anymore because we can get inside the star cage with a dive reset. Many tests have been done in SL and TTM, and the route is now cooler with even more star cancels. I've been busy with studying this whole year but me and Adeal recently tried out many ideas to make the future 150 star TAS faster. One example of those is doing to HMC as the 1st stage instead of LLL because 3 of the stars in HMC are fastest as Yoshi and 2 of them can be cancelled by licking them and falling in the void, skipping both 1 and 3 star texts, as opposed to LLL where we would only be able to skip the 3 star text. If any of you reading this has a question about the route or has even the weirdest ideas to make it faster, you will be welcome to tell them. Obviously yes, I've added them into the full TAS. Also, I just realized it's faster to take as many stars as possible manually in 2-4, making it so I enter the 2nd middle ring with more stars, meaning the time I have to wait before moving again is gonna be shorter. For now this is only useful in 2-4, but I'll keep this strategy in mind for future levels if it becomes useful again eventually.

The 70 stars BLJless TAS is pretty old now, no point of submitting it IMO. The revision of the game, SM64DS, has always been poorly considered because of the controls and the fact that it doesn't have BLJ and that the fastest move is only longjump. But with all the speed tricks and glitches used in the recently published TAS (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=lSpryL2VpIA) and the fact that more people were interested in SM64DS (in fact, even some people we didn't even know before helped contributing by looking through the game and figuring out how some of the tricks work). SM64DS offers its own entertainment that has been pointed out by a lot of the people who watched the TAS, but it has also used very technical and hard tricks (even though they're simple enough for people to understand them) to achieve it. In fact, that's why I think it should be great to have SM64DS in 8:12.93 as the 5th submission.

This is one of the rom hacks I really wanted to see a TAS of. Overall it looks pretty optimized, and I witnessed how painful it was to redo some 100 coins star due to RNG desyncs. I appreaciate the work done in this TAS, and it definitely deserves a yes vote. My favorite stage to watch was Dark Dank Abyss, because of the wall jumps.

We had the idea to cancel In the Talons of the Big Bird to then collect Inside the Ancient Pyramid, but that's a slower path than just collecting the red coins in LLL. The glitch does not allow to collect 2 stars at the same time in any way.

On Super Mario 64, you can't trigger the zone if you don't enter it using the key, the system was safer. Plus, you can't go out of bounds over the void in SM64 because the failsafe mechanism would make you instantly die.

Tall, ALAKTORN, and I started focusing on the any% TAS instead of the 100% TAS. So ALAKTORN had saved 102 frames on the talk to Toad part thanks to Y run and 12 frames on the swimming part of the basement. I saved 2 frames going into the Mario's painting (lol). Then I recently saved 6 frames on the glitchy LJs in the basement. I also improved LLL reds by 8 frames by literally redoing the whole star in a better way. And now, I TASed SSL star cancel and it saves 283 frames over the no-star-cancel route ! A lot of new improvements and new strats are coming, and I hope we don't spend years on it. Any% has a time of 08:45.74 now, which is 00:06.90 less than the published run. So nice

I found a new skip in the game ! 2nd key door skip without rabbit. This is even better because it's faster and it can be done as LUIGI ! So, basically DDD will be done in 1 trip and as Yoshi, and we will be able to do Through The Jet Stream by using a glitch which requires the sub, threrefore impossible with the previous route. Beating Bowser will still be required in 150 stars, though. Plus, JRB can be done without Wario, as the BCCless strat is a lot faster than going to search the Wario cap into the cave. So the route canges are : after BBH 1st trip : Switch to Luigi, PSS 1, BOB cage star, JRB, clip and then WDW and nothing changes before later. When supposedly doing the DDD 2nd trip, we will do all the course, and BitFS as Yoshi (yeah, we will have to wait for Bowser to spawn a cap, unfortunately). With all those changes, with what saves time and what loses times (mainly BitFS as Yoshi), this saves around 10 or 15 seconds in a full 150 star TAS. Video : Link to video
