this is a good find. is it not possible to do this on the screen before? I guess you cannot get enough delay there? Because if you could, then you could vert zip the entire way up the tower if i'm not mistaken.
The main problmen lies in the lag, you have to notice there is only one enemy in the previous screen. But in "theory" your question is correct.

Good to hear that :)
Thank you! Oh, and you know what I figured out, you can gain extra pixels by stopping and restarting a slide repeatedly! I'm on Room 5 now (the one with all the enemies and death traps)! I hope I'll be able to optimize it as good as you did!
That's why my run is full of those stop and slides. Making subpixels to raise is also an really old trick. You can raise them by walking towards the wall (even you don't move). Also it is not recommended to optimize your subpixel values to maximum because game can generate some extra lag spots that can be avoided by different combinations. It is recommended too to watch your steps when you are on the ladders -> jump and slide because you can do that slide 1 frame faster (then "usual") My submission text explains well that happens and I recommend to read other informations too. See this for more information

What I've investigated and seen in this game so far. I really recommend to calculate or try to make your subpixels perfect as possible to attain fastest time as possible. You can gain frames with this, like happened in Deign's Rockman run. Subpixel addresses X (High) = $480 X speed (High) = $4C0 X (Low) = $4A0 X Speed (low) = $4E0 Y (High) = $600 Y speed (High) = $660 Y (Low) = $620 Y Speed (low) = $680 If you are curious about your something you can check and compare some of your movements from Deign's run to see if you have done something wrong somewhere. I hope to see this run done.

You know frames of lag at different times can manipulate a bosses action in this game too, right?
This is also really old technique and also my movie search for the minimal manipulation with lag usage. In the Blizzardman battle there was 1 frame lag less than in the previous run. In the Windman and other stages I had none of lag frames because I was able to find the best manipulation possible there like in any other battles too expect in Centaurman's battle. If you are curious I recommend to watch my movie and see the lag frames, stop the movie and see how it affects in the boss battles. Like I said earlier it is better to optimize the boss before entering the boss room to manipulate the whole battle without none of lag or just with 1 frame of lag.

Also, there is a cool trick with the jet: If you are in flight and you let go of the A button for 1 frame then press on it again you will gain extra height and slightly extra speed.
This trick is already used in my current Mega Man 6 run. But thanks for telling this in here :)
You're welcome! Oh, and did you try the trick where you try to make Knight Man run at you at the beginning of the boss fight so that you hit him faster?
Manipulating bosses and to hit them faster is an really old trick. This was used in my first run too, same applies for every other mega man games as well. Also sometimes it is slower if boss runs towards you because frame rules are doing them. So it recommend to change your subpixel positions and movements or try to lose frame or two before entering the door.

I was able to reproduce it! It seems to be related to delay-death in some way I'm not sure I really need your expert advice. The second factor seems to be that you just must believe ...there is no spoon. ;) http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/56191920/There%20is%20no%20spoon.fcm
Oh now I get it! When you do screenscrolling thingy in a room where you can already scroll it makes game sick :D EDIT1 : Also it is interesting that you had 304 instructions there. Well there already is much stuff in the screen so it wouldn't be impossible to perform. EDIT2 : FinalFighter discussed with me about this glitch and said that it is a new "technique" or in fact discovery. This is the cause Mr. FinalFighter analyzed: NMI drives $14 mad. $14:Room number in horizontal scroll left end.

What I've found out from that .fcm so far. 1. Even if you enter so right as possible in the screen you'll die when trying to enter to previous screen. In Fact you'll die everytime you go to down. 2. You can continue if screen is right as possible and go up in the screen where this glitch occurs. 3. You can't enter to different screens 4. Screenscrollings does not work, no values are seen. In fact they doesn't exist there. 5. You can get enemies to disappear by your movements. FinalFighter said that memory has gone mad and said that he can't reproduce it. Also I have occured few errors in this game when you are trying to perform screenscrolling like in Airman's stage game freezes and makes annoying "beeep" sound all the time. Later I found out that it was a error in FCEU's savestate file because I was able to reproduce it much more later and recorded .fcm file of it, sadly .fcm file did not have that glitch.

Ewww.. I don't think I've never seen this before and what exactly happened there? It seems that the whole game got "broken"

Hey Shinryuu, you should add some frames to your avatar by flipping and reversing what you already have so that Dr. Wily comes back out through the revolving door again. Then it would be continuous, and Dr. Wily would be forever spinning!
Edit[/b]: Animation updated to fix some things and add some more frames to better reflect the source material. Sorry, Whelkman, it's bigger now.
Avatar is now replaced!

Great movie i.e. perkeleen hieno homma poijjaat. Someone already spoiled me about Puff the Magic Dragon so I knew to expect something. Still I was really surprised. I was counting those blocks and suddenly the dragon just died. Also thanks to ShinyDoofy for muxing the video into Matroska container. More Matroska goodness lately.
Hah thanks for the comment... yeah ShinyDoofy did a good job with it so more .mkv files please! Also MechaDragon scrolling or well the whole movie haves "Screw you I'm going home" attidute inside like Bisqwit mentioned eaelier or rather this Finnish sentence sounds better "Menkää helvettiin siitä minä menen kotiin" and it is translated as "Go to hell all of you I'm going home", sorry for swearing but truly this run is full of this. Also I really hope waiting for this project was worth of it :)

I also have a cool trick for defeating the cannon enemy. You charge up a level 3 shot and get right in front of it. Normally shots will bounce off of it but if you are right next to it only a charged shot can get through it (even though you can shoot normal shots through the shield from the left side). This trick is useful in the first Mr. X stage and Knight Man's stage which brings up a new strategy for Knight Man's stage: Instead of switching to the Yamato Spear at the beginning of the stage use a charged shot on the cannon enemy in the room right after the falling spikes. Then switch to the jet. It will definitely save some time getting past that long climbing section.
Naruhodo, really interesting strategies and tricks indeed. I will investigate them more when I have time to. But it is essential to change to Yamato spear to fight with the boss, that means that I should to switch weapons two times and weapon changes are really long. But I look forward on these techniques.

Hey guys! I found a cool ladder trick for this game! When you are at the bottom of the ladder there is an invisible platform. Grab a ladder and hold down to go all the way to the bottom of it. You can see an invisible platform that can help you gain extra height! :D
Thanks for the discovery! That trick was pretty neat and funny! It only works when you have to a long jump to reach the ladders This is an example that you lose 2 frames in the small ladders, when you are on the ladder and slide: Old time = xxx85 Ladder tech time = xxx86~87 If everything works, everything is same but these are added to my movie I'll save about 90-120 frames. But if you count the randomness time may varie a bit. 1xWind, 1xBlizzard (not sure), 1-2xKnight (at least one works), 1xCentaur, 1-2xToma, 1xMr.X, 1xMr.X3, 1xWily4 (not sure).

Okay, is it normal for the timer to go all screwy when watching an MKV with VLC? It seems with every MKV I've watched the timer was jumpy within a five second range. Doesn't affect the video any, however. Not a bad movie. Thankfully it was more glitchy than simply using zipping tricks everywhere. Edit: Also, the encode seems to screw up a bit right after the first Bubbleman fight.
Weird I did not have any problems with .mkv file.. I watched it after it got published last night. I encountered 1 frame stop with MPC player but with Windows Media Player it played without no problems (even I don't use that program). I've heard it plays some videos better or so.

Scrolling glitch, by timing instructions for register value clobber, to kill boss by interrupting lifegauge fill routine: "What game are you playing, again?" I don't think any other game's been broken to this extent. Effort well spent; congratulations on doing all of it And what warp said: Isn't this supposed to obsolete the prior M/RM2 tas?
Yes, According the ShinyDoofy he wasn't able to modify informations so just please wait for Bisqwit or so, let's just wait :) But well I added this to my submission to avoid confusion a bit. This run obsoletes the previous run by 1693 frames, 28,21 seconds!

Congratulations on the completion! I really enjoyed watching this movie and wanted to vote 10/10, but I think the possibility of improvements will always remain, so I voted 9.7/9.7 with my expectation of further improvements. I'm glad I could help, but the credit is more than I deserve, because I could contributed only to the theory, not to the actual operation ^^; I respect all the people who have put a lot of effort into this work for a long time. And, thanks for #TASers people. Well, for some reason, the uploaded FCM file has a initial state which is a bit different from the power-on state, and 9 null frames from the start is omitted. This does NOT spoil the validity of the movie at all, but please note that you must insert 9 null frames to the head when you convert the FCM file to FM2.
We decided to put you in the credits because your discovery was more than enought for us. We wanted to thank by doing this, also you kicked FinalFighter's butt because he got really impressed by your investigations :) Thanks for the comment and for the converting guide.

Not to my surprise, the movie doesn't terminate properly as the last key input is stuck, which is common among edited .fcm movies. :( You see, I'll never rate any movie 10/10! Never! 8)
Naruhodo. It seems that it got stuck after I added all authors names to .fcm file, really interesting bug indeed. Before that there wasn't any problems so I couldn't foresee this problem. Also .fcm file is now fixed. Also I truly recommend all to read everything what we have wrote up. It's really essential and vital to know what we have done and investigated.

WTF. ¯\(σ_ο)/¯
This is a technique I also found many years back but I didn't find any useful use for it. This may be useful in the screenscrolling because emo bird should to make huge delay.. There is also possibility to call monkey from the end of the screen by the emo bird.
