Zucca: Dirty encode - it ends 30 seconds after the input does. Nevermind, it desynced. That's the great thing when encoding over ssh and uploading before actually watching the result...

In case anybody is wondering where submission 2336 has gone: I deleted it to only have one submission of this game left. As far as I could tell, they were the same either way.

Thanks Hoe for posting that dual encode. Thank you for ignoring my post and thus having me waste time and resources pointlessly. Also, thank you for the half-assed sound line. I really appreciate it.

alden, the windows build does create avi files by now. Check the WIP section on http://www.pcc.me.uk/~peter/dega/ and feel free to dig yourself through it.

Eh, whatever. I'll see what I can do some time until tomorrow. /edit: They really do differ a lot. Not that much in speed for most of the time, but for how the game is played (walking backwards, hitting coin blocks and the like). I'll have the dual encode ready soon-ish.

Dude, there's a button called "edit" on all of your posts. I'd be thankful if you also used it for adding content instead of almost triple posting.

The site and FCEUX calculate a movie's length differently. The Windows build goes by 60fps, the site goes by the NES' "real" framerate, i.e. ~60.0988. The latter is also used for the Linux build iirc.

fixed. Helping was also affected by this at least shows something again. I'll have to dig into the code to comment on the urgent seed requests.

While I'm looking forward to actually seeing something newer than 9f or so (still 2.1 on Linux), why not try and fix svn of the version we already use? This way we won't run into two versions with possibly different sync.

The movie formats for 1.43 and 1.51 differ slighty, one can't read the other's movie files.

Seems like you really did miss the B key, even in your submission text. Anyway, voting yes for nice, yet almost imperceptible improvements. / Damn, mmbossman beat me to it. :/

Cussing at somebody I can very well understand. But wishing death to a bot for using its service and thus receiving a valuable answer - well, that's new!

Seriously, svn for sending files between two people? Email or any file transfer function multiple instant messengers have available is too lame for you?

The biggest issue when severely sacrificing speed for entertainment is how to objectively rate one better than another.
There is no need to be "objective" about this; just let the majority vote on what they think is the more entertaining one.
While that sounds reasonable in theory, I strongly doubt it will work out. It's going to turn out like rating submissions did. A lot of people gave 9.5/10 points or more in entertainment just because they knew the game by heart and enjoyed it being torn to pieces. The result of this was that there were several submissions with an average of 9.3/10 or something. Too many people just think "awsome" and vote 10/10. Comparing two runs of the same game that are <=20 minutes in length may still be possible, but try that with runs that are longer than an hour.

The tracker is still here, and NesVideoAgent too, but that is relatively minor.
The tracker has been moved as well, the IRC seems to be doing fine. I guess Bisqwit is now once more "free" again. I do have to say that I'm a little bit sad about him giving up his position, now that everything's transferred. Thanks a lot for building this site and keeping it alive for such a long time, a lot of websites have come and passed since it was born.

I'll give this a weak yes vote. The run itself was alright, but it involved too much jumping/hitting the ceiling for my taste, you couldn't enjoy the game's music that way. Also, why is it that you sometimes wait before you jump to get a key? Are the controls blocked or do you waste time to manipulate luck?

It desyncs on V1.1, yes. He however, used 1.0. Synced fine for me on the (almost) latest git revision.
