Yes I know that, but there are emulators like KEGA Fusion that emulate multiple SEGA 16-bit and 8-bit systems, including the SEGA Master System and Game Gear, so why no do that for GENS RR? Besides, a version of GENS, GENS+, already emulates the SMS and GG, only it's missing the re-recording features of GENS RR.

It probably does it as a 'forced compatibility' feature.

I don't know if it may be possible to incorporate sometime in the future, but it would be really awesome if Gens RR supported Master System emulation. I personally am not satisfied with BizHawk's SMS emulation, haven't tried Dega yet though, so don't know about that. But yeah, Master System emulation on Gens RR can really help lots of people out as everyone familiar with Gens' workings can be facilitated the option to be able to play through SMS games!

Back to the original question, what Gens does (at least older versions, the latest ones don't do it on my system) is change the color depth to 16-bit depth. I have no idea why, but that's what it does, and so Windows changes some of the icons to their 16-bit versions, which are Windows 95/98-looking. ;)

Thanks for replying! The thing is, I DO want to make a realtime recording, like I usually do locally with a friend, but this time, with a friend over Netplay. Is there any way I can do this, maybe with a different emulator with the same movie recording features?

I want to make a co-op playthrough with someone over netplay using Gens ReRecording since it has all those cool TAS movie recording functions. The thing is, I don't really know if Gens RR supports netplay. It doesn't show up in File. But reading through the source changelogs suggests that it does have netplay, and nothing suggests they removed it. Here's what I read that makes me think it has netplay support (notice what it says about netplay): http://code.google.com/p/gens-rerecording/source/detail?r=302 So, any ideas? :\

Many thanks! I was able to save the playthrough by removing the bad frames and it worked perfectly! :D Now on to Golden Axe 2 and 3. :)

I am having a small but serious problem in a .gmv playthrough of Golden Axe I did with a friend doing the 2P arcade mode. Everything works fine up to around frame 32900 and something weird happens where all buttons on both controllers are somehow 'pressed' and the game pauses, throwing off the playthrough completely. The emulator used was Gens Movie Test v11a. Is there any way to fix this? Thanks in advance. If you need the .gmv you can find it here [removed]
