Recommendation to the author is to look into Levels 6, 7 (at the fight), and 9. There's enough frames in the open that could allow you to sub 19. Or await another masterfile that merges your inputs together and gets the sub 19 and asks co-auth again. The new input features a revised level 5 that saves 88 frames, 7 that saves 45, 8 that saves 58 and a 10 that saves 255 frames over the submission file. Whilst losing 10 and 2 frames at levels 6 and 9 respectfully to the submission file. In a best vs best case it looks like this:
Edit: Requesting co-authorship with this 114 frame improvement, over the userfile (610 over the submission). Issue; Level 7 requires the new version created by Technickle meaning it still doesn't match the fastest version which is found in v3. My main gripe still exists with Levels 6 and 9 which is using input which I believe can be improved upon especially when the author has shown that Level 5 in this submission was improve upon. Level 7 I've pretty much personally accepted that the v3 that went through this basically got the best Zink fight it could ask for. It's still probably possible to improve, but I'm not going to spend the time looking through a level boss fight.

Hey Technickle, love the new Stone Protectors TAS and all that you’ve done to it on your journey to get there with your 8th WIP this year that you made in a day and you continuously delete the previous WIP making it impossible to give you feedback until a submission is made. I’m going to point out a true table where it compares by Level Time and not TAStime ready? (Values gathered are from dumped footage using Audio Sync.) "Spike what does 'Loss' mean?" Time lost in the results screen due to getting an extra life, this is 60/61 frames slower than exiting the level without collecting every unique gem at least once. In the case of the colorful chart provided, Level 8 shows the fastest time, however it loses 60 frames meaning that the fastest run of Level 8 would go to v5/v7. You’re slower than yourself in several levels… some tracking back to v3. “But Spike” I hear someone ask, “what about merging the input together and using that instead?” Yes, that would work. However, despite being a mostly sync friendly game I still got a desync at Level 6 using Tech’s input on a previous WIP; v5 (Which actually synced quite comfortably with the Japanese version). Now I can do it again for v8 and see what happens and see if it syncs but the fact that each and every WIP was made in a single day and wasn't checked over is highly concerning to me, especially when v3 is still kicking strong. I don't know why you didn't compare by level, and why you haven't hex'd your input across. I'll see if I can hex v3, 6 and 7 into your input but knowing that each revision only had a day spent to them with no further polish is kinda frustrating. Refraining from voting.
Edit: Requesting co-authorship with this 293 frame improvement. Hexed in every single questionable level from the previous revisions that improve on this version. Issue; Level 7 is still slower due to the Boss fight in that level against Zink, making it slower than v3 by 20 frames (actually matching v5). My main gripes can be seen in the table. The Last 5 levels needs to be redone, cause there's frames on the table that can be picked up... like how you lost time in Level 8 from the results screen. Also
Technickle wrote:
Level 8, I can pick up the gems, because if do not do that, the game will straight up softlock for no reason. (a well-built game I know).
Shows that this statement is false by using older input which doesn't collect an extra life.
Technickle wrote:
v8 has a frame count of 60,779 | this movie has a frame count of 60,016 (763 frames faster)
You're implying I'm missing a version in the chart then if this is actually v9 but that would then begin to become semantics and then falls on the issue I already brought up. I classified v8 as this userfile which is coincidentally this submission.

To reflect the updated input done on the Mupen file (proper truncation of the 700-odd frames) here's an updated Hawk file to match it.

Ok just to put it in ram watch terms you value is 0x086E84 0F (1 byte) or 15 (1 byte). What I bolded is where you issue lies. You should be poking the address when you're selecting a level. Alternatively you can use this lua script that does the job for ya.
Language: lua

while true do if memory.readbyte(0x8D908) == 0 then memory.writebyte(0x86E84, 15); -- Oxide end; emu.frameadvance() end;
Weird quirk (mainly cause done relatively quickly). It crashes when you select "Change Level" not "Change Character".

The Hawk and Mupen discrepancy on this TAS is due to when the input ends as a note. The Hawk input ends on final input and the Mupen input is a few seconds after. Just to visualize it: Curiosity sake says the Mupen final input ends at around 15390 and is left going until 16152: Update: This is now corrected in the newer userfile.

I'm personally more glad that a NMM TAS was submitted first before a MM is submitted as there's so much more that could be potentially found and maybe an even better geg/ace that what's currently known. My vote on entertainment should probably be that understandable No. No matter what, the downtimes that Bash has just kills it no matter the category. As redhotbr points out there's some spots that need polishing but overall it's still a good enough TAS with what can be accomplished for now, when will an improvement come that irons out the wrinkles? Probably in quite a ways away.

In a TASing world there's actually faster methods which is being worked on. After all a TAS is superhuman input.

Sorry I'm going to the be the stickler here. I don't get why you used a tool to do something where you could've done and created a verification movie instead. If you call for sync issues when a memory card is placed well there's two NTSC-U revision differences and a single NTSC-J version they should be more than enough to help create a non-tweaked version. Alternatively you could've gone with the bios route as there is enough of a difference which will allow it to have an advantage. I'll show you with my favourite game example I usually have on hand, Tekken 3. I know, Tekken 3 is not Mega Man X6, sorry. But I've done this test with various other PlayStation games in the past. This file uses NTSC-J's two revisions and the NTSC-U version to select 3 different characters without changing the bios either (to be exact what I mean by this I meant between the NTSC-J versions since SCPH5500 and SCPH5501 are already different in that regard). To tl;dr that file with a set of images: Each version/revision was able to select a completely different character starting from Xiaoyu. If you want to prove any of this wrong all you have to do is create two separate verification movies saves that unlock Zero and then create a movie that fails to select both X in one version/revision and Zero in the other.

Never upscale Nearest to an odd resolution, always use even. Then once that's done scale down with something like Lanczos for instance. So in your 1080p case Dimon you want to go up x6 then Lanczos down to 1080p. Which in this case would be this: -vf scale=iw*6:ih*6:sws_flags=neighbor,scale=(4/3)*1080:1080:flags=lanczos -crf 18 -pix_fmt yuv420p -b:a 384k -f mp4 (Note: Someone can probably clean this up to be neater, but there you go.) For those wanting 720p: -vf scale=iw*4:ih*4:sws_flags=neighbor,scale=(4/3)*720:720:flags=lanczos -crf 18 -pix_fmt yuv420p -b:a 384k -f mp4 You're also only assuming this is for S/NES only despite it being stated that it's for a TV console usecase and only in brackets are two consoles just so happen to be the same reesolution. Meaning A2600, PlayStation, Saturn (etc) and keeping with the Odd Logic you'll eventually get hit with the error of "Height/Width not divisible by 2" using your method Dimon. (This also answers Dacicus' query somewhat.)

Mesen/-S have both had rerecording tools for a while (2017 and 2019 respectfully). However it's to the style without the piano roll (unless I'm blind) so it's dated in that field when compared to the S/NES TASing emulators we have. (The bonus is that the movie file contains zipped content, meaning it can be edited easily through a text editor but then the shenanigans of that step) And unfortunately as we know sour was also finished with creating both emulators at the start of 2020 basically and wouldn't be seen making any more updates as they completed all that they needed. It can be forked and work can be continued on to add complete TASing functionality or it can be ported into Hawk.

No you're not. Now the translation is not completed, but I think with your unreasonable response I think I can finish it where I've left instead of completing it but there's every slide from that video.
Now after providing an almost complete translation to English out, thank you for the help ryse345 and to those that also helped and won't be named for their privacy, I want to point out one of the three people you accused of foul play. Samsara. Samsara made it clear here, but it was a complete misunderstanding to when you messaged her, she didn't understand completely what you meant with Scumtron's name and in fact she respects them as well, much like she respected you. But xipo you can't be claiming stuff against Samsara after all you're more at fault than she is. You've gaslit her on your own inability to go to Samsara and say "hey, you forgot to have Scumtron as an author" either in her DMs that you do use or in the submission's discussion. But you want to know what's worse? On the submission Samsara gave you additional privileges meaning at any point in time you could've added Scumtron's name yourself. You're at fault for bottling this up instead of doing something reasonable. She never broke her promise, you were inept. And you say that her name should be erased for missing an author even though at any point you could've add Scumtron's name yourself. You're the one that's disrespectful here. You're saying in your Xenophobic comments to us that the Euro-Americans have no credibility and that they go back on your word. But where's your credibility when you could've resolved this all without issue?

In the video can you write back in Chinese what's written between 2min 16sec and 5mins 48secs. Just separate and mark which bits they are and timestamp if you have to.
