Your thread asking this question: is possible change/remove a disk/rom while TAS?
feos wrote:

feos wrote:

Monster Rancher 2 is a single disk game. The demo disk is considered as another game, since demo disks feature multiple games as well as the game you wanted. (This is also a game, that requires disk switching, so there's the obvious question of "is there better"?) Also you didn't set your game correctly on top of that when making the TAS according to the header. Bonus: According to input. There's very impossible disk switching going on not during the 2 you made. Probably because of how the game's reading it by switching between on-storage memory.

This time is my first time try do multi-disk in a TAS. For setup before start, must setup Monster Rancher 2 at disk 1, Official U.S. PlayStation Magazine Demo Disc 14 at disk 2
Yeah... Explain why you used a demo disk.

This is something that you should be checking yourself. However if you actually did, you wouldn't be mashing. Not to mention you almost did it correctly in your original submission and not here.

Start learning on how to end your input on your own. Light Spike of 3664 frames. (Author had extra input within the blank when truncating the input that's still there so if it needs to be shaved further, shave it.) -- Also what would be nice is why you switched from the US version to the J version. For those that wouldn't understand. -- Anyways. Here's Wonderwall: (30fps gif, but again, it proves the point.) You were mashing your input. You weren't going frame by frame. This is again heavily backed up by the low rerecord count for a racing game. Bonus Fact: I also enter there a frame faster, and then out in the next bit 2 frames faster so it's not just there were you're slow before getting into the game.

Does the name of the folder in which the files are matter? Does it matter if I all discs of the game (Like FFIX) are in the same folder?
As long as the bin/cue combo is together on the cue links to the subfolder the bin's in it should be fine (later is what I'm on about for should be).
Reeve wrote:
Does it matter if it's not a bin file, but other formats?
bin/cue is the more recommended combo that will actually work 99% of the time (the 1% of the time is due to emulation errors or other.)
Reeve wrote:
The .cue files from Redump will point me if the game is 1 or 2 tracks and I should consider that to know if my dump is good or not?
Yes. The point of redump is to show multiple dumps by various users who own the game, redump does also show the bad dumps (iirc marked in red). If you don't have what Redump shows, you screwed up.
Reeve wrote:
If the name of the .bin file matches the name inside the .cue file but the game doesn't run it will always mean I have a bad dump?
Somewhat. Again use Redump to verify if your cue is actually decent, use mednafen itself to check as I myself had a case where it didn't run on Hawk but did run on mednafen due to the fact that the bin/cue I got was a cracked one, which was very simple to restore and correct if you know what you're doing.
Reeve wrote:
Do I have to configure/place any plugins or other files than the bios ones somewhere inside Bizhawk's folders?
Considering that Octoshock isn't a plugin emulator. What are you on about? If you're referring to the 4 choices, it's only 4 choices. The emulator uses Soft not the garbage that N64 has at its disposal.

The issue with your copy of Castlevania is that it's a 2 Track game. Example with another game to show what I mean: You don't have a good/clean dump of the game according to you and you need to find one. In order to verify if your stuff is correct you can check with redump who only provide the cues so you can check if your stuff's in order. (redump is also allowed to be mentioned since they don't provide the actual game)

If all you have is SCPH1001 that's the problem. You need all 3 sets for PS1, PAL, NTSC-J and NTSC-U. Also please switch to the recommended bioses that the core suggests.

Previous Submission Judgement Notes:
GoddessMaria wrote:
Hello, Zekann, and welcome to TASVideos! Unfortunately, your submission does not meet site standards. It must be optimized and beat all known records. In addition to that, the co-creator of this ROM hack has made it known that he does not recommend TASing this game in this stage as it is still being actively worked on which will fix many of the bugs and glitches present in this current build. That being said, I am rejecting this submission.
You are running literally the exact same version as your previous submission that was rejected on top of all that. Light Spike input of 14350 frames. (I'll throw a submission encode since his YouTube and the Spiked time doesn't match and I can't bother checking it sidebyside for level and input comparisons.)

Ok thanks for the encode. Questions: Final Flash appears to be Vegeta's fastest move however you don't keep to it on all the fights and instead go for a combo move. Why is that? Also. Why is it when you're doing Final Flash that it fails to One Hit? Isn't it possible for it to to make it a One Hit move without issue, even with a bit of waiting? Entertainment is a No from me. And goodbye to those few souls that get a seizure from this.

bin/cue is the combo. Don't delete your bins! Redump has all the cue files (cue's are fine to distribute, since it contains no game data), all you have to do is go to that site, grab the list collection of PS1 games, find the games you want, open the cue files (with a text editor) and match it to your bin.

Did you load the cue? -- Make sure you have prereq installed, and the necessary updates to your laptop if it's very new. And then check the three bioses if that is the issue.

Dooty's deliberately forgoes the use of upgrades this run that uses upgrades (and it's more than a few seconds). -- Just a quick question since you are bringing him up. RallyFTW created a full USA% TAS as well which you've mentioned in your submission text. Now you have him beat on the later levels except the first one at Las Vegas. He pulls in a 1'51"06 while you come in behind with a 1'51"11. Do we have an explanation for this?

Didn't expect you to respond that quickly wasn't really done honestly so now I get to make a new reply. --- On the topic of passwords... You should type in your passwords better: (It's a gif at 30fps since 60fps causes issues unless I went straight video but the point goes across) The center represents your input but corrected to a point where you can input faster. A input isn't your only input you can use, you have X/Y/B as well at your disposal. The modified input is only 4 frames faster from original, whilst my own input is almost 60 frames faster.

(I stalked your YouTube account so I already watched it. Didn't expect a submission without refinement... especially with a TAS created so soon.) This is almost double to your other submission. 6353 frames (01:45.71) of blank input removed. You can slim off more if you want to get a lower TAS time but whatever author's choice. Oh and Challenger's point about a Soft Reset reapplies here too since you didn't do it... again. 100% means all tracks (64 tracks), however you didn't perform all the tracks. Also your math is off (64 - 9 = 55) not 54 as you have written, otherwise that's 10 tracks. So which is it? Main complaint is using a Cheat in order to get the highest spec. car in order to advance through this entire game. I personally prefer the actual upgrade as you go along route compared to A -> Z congrats you have a beast of a car. Terms of Branch needing to be rewritten as: "all tracks, super car, wall glitches" Then again in actual reality on how the branch would be it would be this: "54 tracks, passwords". In terms of votes, I want to vote No on entertainment for the deliberate use of passwords to get the high spec cause I lose the entertainment value in that. However instead I'm just going to abstain instead.

Since we're talking about the core Octoshock, which is based on the core provided by mednafen, it's best to use what mednafen recommends. https://mednafen.github.io/documentation/psx.html#Section_firmware_bios This is also what BizHawk recommends over everything else. As for SCPH-7003. It syncs on SCPH-5501.

Which is also the era of using PCSX-rr/psxjin. This is also the most common BIOS yes. However, it's also the BIOS/model that has issues such as FMV skipping. (Also in terms of BIOSes, it's the first and least up-to-date one in terms of the PS1 model lineup.) And in a bias opinion. We'd rather avoid encoding anything using the 1xxx series of bioses. (Yes, this is only the Japanese Bios where it occurs, but the overall picture should make sense)

The Case of Mappy. The game has 4 Bonuses, 12 Rounds before loops. Up in all that's 16 levels. I'm pointing this out so I can ignore the bonuses as all you have to do is just go and die quickly. So after doing the 12 Rounds it loops back round to the first round. All you have to do is lightly modify my input by trimming the input to adjust for Mappy's speed increase and interject for whenever the Bonus shows up. That's all. Heck you can straight avoid any RNG changes that the game would throw at you if you know what you're doing (This was found out thanks in part to dwangoAC and attempting to resync the game for console). There is nothing major for the game to actually consider a re-TAS or an update as it's already done what the purpose was done for. For all that matters for when the TAS was created it did the loop. There are videos on YouTube that do more than 16 levels that can back my claim of 12 Rounds and loop. If you want to point at actual cases. The TASes for MSX & SG1000 Galaga covers it for you by not actually hitting loop like I've pointed out on both of them post publication. Bonus: Mario Bros. (if it gets brought up) I did more Phases than I should've and realized the game was looping the same phases and was basically dependent on RNG for positioning. (which you can control location on where the enemies spawn) So it too did the loop.

Hello Rewstarr and welcome to TASVideos. Unfortunately doing a single level is not accepted at TASVideos even though in speedrunning it is. This is an issue that certain speedrunning communities would do by having a random miscellaneous category as their main category for some time without fixing it. It seems the Road Rash community is looking at fixing that mistake by having "100%" as their main category of interest. The TAS has a low rerecord count for a movie that's about racing so either it's experience or some other reason you should look into your input further. The TAS also doesn't end on last frame of input, so light Spike is here: 48031197209110527

Nowhere close what I meant. I was asking you to point out which one on your YouTube account is the encode. Since the Spiked Input (nor your submitted file) doesn't match any of your encodes you have on your account. Actually, talking about that input. You can slim off more. Since you continue to hold the accelerator even after crossing the line. And then there's the issue of not using all your fuel. I did it for you anyways cause I checked alongside the movie and latest full video you have provided.

Cool you answered 2 of my points with a hitch as the second point was confirmed by Challenger that it is questionable since you can get to the menu faster. You have it quoted but you didn't answer it. So I'm just going to ask it again:

Thanks. Also you wrote more information here in the forums than in your submission text which desperately needs it. You need a lot more information than just copying what we have as our Movie Publication text.
