Admittedly I think I screwed what I selected in voting, but how I read it is probably different to how it was intended. I voted "Yes, and we should use it more" mainly for the fact the users that get told through multiple submissions to please use the User Files and to refine their work don't actually do that. And it's becoming bloody broken record when it's the same user who doesn't take it seriously. And it's like why should the Judge have to go over this user's work again if they're not going to take anything said to heart? This has been consistent with one user recently and I'm not going to pick them out. All they've done is submit more and more submissions, over time, but their work has no refinement, and nothing redone from scratch. Like, please. Just actually work on the game you're TASing, your first version is never going to be your best, and if you want to catalogue it, post it to the userfiles. They stated that they do optimize their works, but when something can be simply compared to a run on srcom, or if a run doesn't exist on srcom just quickly verify like the first level. It's like they're never going to take what the Judges are saying, or we the viewers are just going please take your time. And I'm only against removing it, because of the users that don't put the time in their work. What should be adjusted, is an auto-renewal. A user should be limited from 1, 3, 6 months, to a Year depending on like how consistent. I'm spitballing. Mainly because I also hate that those users who are Limited haven't been able to return, and I know for instance Mihoru/Pepper has actually improved substantially to their work in 2019. They've been limited for 4 bloody years and unfortunately their videos are gone, but I remember watching over time and going "oh, they're actually getting the hang of this" and their issues used to be visibly suboptimal and questionable. So. tl;dr: We should still use it, but have in a auto-renewal for those that continuously cause people can get it, because none of us are watching them, we're just watching the next person who's making us continuously go "please take your time" and when is that statement going to stop sounding like a broken record is my question, because if they continue to not refine then that'll bring us back here.

YouTube doesn't allow dead on 12 hours. It's better to go by trips as well so at least each segment is completed.

Playaround/does not aim for speed
Nitpick. For a playaround showing the skill of switching in and out of having a challenge against a second player would've been more interesting that sticking through a single character for 16 rounds. Or alternatively going through with a character that knows everyone else's moves. To me this feels like one of those cobbled up single player showcases you already see on YouTube. Abstained.

When compared to 14 Talisman and 40 Orb there's enough route difference to make this its own thing, it's enjoyable, and if it does get accepted I'll claim to publish.

Not a "game end glitch" it's using something that's in this unreleased game akin to #5430: Spikestuff & Ferret_Warlord's GB The Lion King "all levels" in 00:47.28.

Oshisaure just asking cause I forgot to ask this. Do you have extended input for the initials or would just having "TAS" be more than enough? Note: This doesn't change the time from 8.82 for when the Movie's Published. It's just something extra.

That's what I'm talking about! How the shit does your input sequence get that damn lucky to be that repeatable, like the hell? I'll claim this one for pubs when accepted due to the previous submissions.

Welcome to the Cube Escape series. Where the dots are dotting and there's Graphical Glitches which is a main reason these aren't being submitted and showcased here instead. Possible photosensitivity warning: Link to video // Userfile Link to video // Userfile What do you mean the dots are dotting? Glad you asked me. The preloader in libTAS actually fails to get into game, so you can never continue. Instead you have to modify the flash file. Specifically the Main Script file. Changing:
if(preloader.blackScreen.alpha >= 1 && _this.currentFrame == 1)
to:
if(preloader.blackScreen.alpha >= 0 && _this.currentFrame >= 0)
Will auto boot into the game. Key words. Auto. Boot. Somewhere on some Flash TAS I stated that this type of modification should be avoided because you're skipping a "Play" or "Continue" input. And I rather not sound like a hypocrite, even if I spent almost a month finding a way to brute force Continue with no avail... yet. Ha of course my memory is on backwards. One Chance does exactly this.

My No Vote retains for the same reason as before.

You can make your argument again about something that can be amended, even though it shouldn't in this case, but I'll also leave it with this comment. What's the point of boasting that you are running with a Threadripper if you're not actually going to complete a game which has a known end point and instead do basically bare minimum and only barely improving over what a human does? Edit: You bring up 256 this time, but that's exclusive to the Arcade version. NES is technically endless. But as I stated on the previous submission and quoted forward here, you only need to do up to at minimum Maze 13. Your counterpoint is invalid when you reach a Maze fairly early on which will have the highest aggression from the Ghosts, and lower Power Pellet time. Edit 2: Something I forgot to bring up here and on the previous submission. Regardless of version whether it be Namco or Tengen. There's 3 interludes telling a story. Where the third gets repeated:
  • Pac-Man is chased by Blinky both go off screen, Blinky is being chased by a larger Pac-Man.
  • Pac-Man is chased by Blinky, Blinky runs over a line and breaks their outfit.
  • Pac-Man is chased by Blinky (who patched up their outfit), both go off screen, Blinky is seen going back the other way with a wardrobe malfunction.

Don't care if I'm in the minority opinion on this one. Firstly it fails to be faster than something that exists back in 2008. Which has been converted: User movie #49844826068076307 Secondly. Pac-Man's NES has a loop which has a speed and enemy speed cap (and aggression). It's not hard to figure out where your input can be repeated as you can clone your input. And if my memory serves me correctly it's at key, which is Maze 13. This movie is not complete. No vote.

First what's with that "also" are you to say you made a TAS that you can't sync yourself? Also it doesn't stop the immediate noticeable issues that is left behind in your TAS.

Anyways to explain it for everyone else as the author doesn't. Uzebox version is 3 loops I'll provide something in a bit. Edit: Something in a bit. If anyone wants to adjust it go nuts.

You see that start button that you used to enter the game? Hit it 2 more times. Secondly. Your TAS immediately desyncs for me. So I'm unable to validate if this is actually as the branch that's pointed out is actually 100% or if it's not.

Overscan / Active Area is part of the Console's display. This is more accurate than actually removing it. If we went back to each and every previous Mupen encode that allows simple syncing with certain plugins that allows showcasing Active Area we would be updating it (and trust me, we are). These older outdated standard of encoding that you loved so much are being fixed because they're not right. And just as a note, not once did you ever have an issue with this when PlayStation encodes introduced Active Area back in 2015. N64 is only starting to catch up to something that's preestablished, and already exists. By the way. This extends past PlayStation obviously, but I think it's fairer to compare the 5th Generation Consoles and how one is already on the path and the other is slowly joining for better accuracy and representation.
Slowking wrote:
I'm a bit disappointed that high quality encodes don't seem to come with publication anymore.
TAS only syncs on 240p. If the Publisher wanted to put themselves through the pain of actually making sure every second synced at a higher resolution by switching back and forth and wasting their time as a Publisher then they could've. Or, the better option. Just Publish it now, and then deal with it later. The Publication is fine. There's nothing that was provided to make it a stable enough sync via Save States provided to have a higher resolution encode provided, making it more of a chore for a 2 hour TAS. If you care enough about the resolution being dumped at 240p and not 4K how's about you provide the appropriate save states then? EZGames69 doesn't deserve this flack that you're giving them.

So first I'm going to congratulate you. Why? Well in making my own version just to verify things this bastard of a title is crash heavy (and this personally explained a bit of things to me). Now this is specifically for v1.4.4 and not the current dev builds of libTAS (pointed out by Casual in private). But unfortunately your TAS is suboptimal. Now ignoring that the TAS isn't truncated proper something the author brings up on Discord. We're going to say (eyeballing the encode) this TAS finishes at Frame 6780 and not 6864. I have a file that is 160ish frames faster than what you provided (when it syncs). What you have provided is again exceptional because of the hardship you have to deal with in making it as it is very temperamental. I'll tell you what my input has, whilst providing it (also not properly truncated cause I gave up after the amount of desyncs whilst writing this post). It heavily switches between Z and Space every frame for advancing text and actions throughout the entire duration of the TAS, so my timing is never wrong. I'm also holding the X key for auto-skip and only releasing and pressing when I need to enter inventory. Obviously using the Escape key also works but I didn't notice any difference than a release and press at the right time (and because I was at the limit with how temperamental it was being). But there's another issue, when running libTAS in a terminal it will request this:
[libTAS f:1] Thread 12870 (main) WARNING! many calls to function clock_gettime(CLOCK_MONOTONIC), you may need to enable time-tracking.
This TAS (and mine for direct comparison) isn't made with time tracking which is located in Runtime > Time Tracking > clock_gettime() monotonic. This will correctly present the game, and possibly has a better time with consistent syncing. Welcome Tegron to TASVideos. You did create something with issues, but I seriously have to congratulate you for pushing through and getting something out there with the chaos that the tools provided.

"Doesn't" is the correct English in that sentence. Read it out loud without the contraction with how it currently looks as the publication and then with your suggestion. "Doesn't" in the sentence without the contraction: Knuckles' Chaotix is one of the few Sonic games that does not feature Sonic himself. Here's your "don't" suggestion without the contraction: Knuckles' Chaotix is one of the few Sonic games that do not feature Sonic himself.

I personally like seeing the rerecord counts, like it's nice to see it cleanly in the arrangement it has in the Publications. Like it's been part of Publications since the beginning of the site, so like it would be something weirdly miss, at least to me. It's also a very useful thing to gauge the quality of work behind a TAS, something feos points out as a detractor. In writing that yes, there's proof where there are TASers who can make something with an extremely high time + low rerecord count and still be extremely optimal. However, to me it also helps quickly explain something that can validate a "oh so that's why the author spammed shooting, and was blatantly missing targets instead of being accurate this is something that needs to be brought up and inform the author to take their time in the sections". I don't want to personally always download a usermovie, check for the issues manually and get something out of that. It's a good thing to have if there's something amiss in someone's work, and it's extremely helpful to at least give pointers to newcomers who do come back swinging back with something that they put the work into. And even when it's a low rerecord count with a high time, you can still get an "oh, wow" element out of it in the reactions of those that watched the Publication. This is either going to be straightforward or diverse in the opinions, but I'm against removing it, I've always liked seeing that back when I was watching the TASes before I joined almost 12 years ago, and I still personally like seeing it. To me it would just be a void if it was gone.

They didn't forget. They just didn't provide. eladogGames you're very much not taking what's said in the forum posts here if this is your 6th submission and I'm 100% sounding like a broken record. Please take your time and use the tools available to you in BizHawk and use the userfiles. Go again when you've optimized all you can. As pointed out by OtakuTAS who provided a link to the RTA WR that is almost a minute faster than this submission (in RTA timing), you haven't optimized all that you can. You've spread your 6 TASes almost a month apart from each other, but you haven't developed anything to show that you've got a hang of the tools that you're using. The games you're working on have a dedicated board, or already has a dedicated run, and if it didn't then you need to go over it with a finer comb. Please take your time when you're developing your TASes.
