The best solution to something like a TAS of OoT or SM64 being done on Wii VC and published here is to have it officially be considered a Wii game, but have it still show up in the N64 list, just with a note on the publication saying that it was done on VC. Most people who are looking for an SM64 or OoT TAS will check the N64 section, so just have the publication show up in both Wii and N64.

And exceptions should never create precedents.
NO THIS IS TASVIDEOS ALL RULES ARE ABSOLUTE AND WE MUST FOLLOW THEM LIKE ROBOTS THE RULES COME BEFORE THE TASES

Loved it. Fantastic improvement, great job! Hope the silent no voter will give their reasons. Something tells me it'll be rule related... Seems to be a trend in these MST TAS threads, LOL.

If you guys are happy having a run that's outdated by 5 years, that's fine. Rules shouldn't be absolute though. It's obvious the site would benefit from publishing the new run.

An exception should definitely be made for that MST TAS so it can be submitted here. It was awesome, and my run is really outdated at this point.

This was way better than the other one which just got published. Loved it. Yes vote.

This is a really cool run and was very impressive, so I voted yes. I really think any improvements should start from SRAM though and follow the fastest route possible. It's always a good idea for TASes to be as close (route and rule-wise) to the console counterparts when possible.

Will it be accepted if one is provided? I'm not gonna waste my time making one if not.

It is a waste of time cause I'd have to play every course on the game at least 5 times. Never gonna happen. Nahoc knows it's legit, so I doubt he'd reject over that. Also, adelikat said in IRC yesterday that he didn't even know this was a requirement, and that if he wrote it himself, he wouldn't have made it one.

The reason I didn't provide the other movie file is because I didn't feel like making one when I can easily just grab a savefile that's already available that has the necessary criteria for the run already met. It's just a waste of my time and I doubt it'd be rejected for that, anyway, especially since Nahoc knows this game well and has already stated in IRC that he knows the savefile is legit.

To those wondering if this can be done in real-time: Yes, of course. The only reason it hasn't been til now is that we only recently discovered that it only works on the NTSC-U 1.1 version (all other versions crash, and most NTSC-U copies are 1.0). The other method does a similar glitch in 1P mode, and uses T.T. to boost the player over to the Wizpig door, but that method is a lot slower than the one used here.

Good shit. Voted yes, obviously. Watching the rest now. The time difference between this and Rikku's is a testament to how much effort you guys have put into this. The constant restarts and delays were super irritating but it honestly looks like it's worth it with just that time difference alone. Congrats, all of you!

As someone who actually has a run published with the AVGN tag, I'm glad it's there. He's awesome and everyone knows who he is, so it's a good and easy way to make a movie stand out as significant to many casual viewers. It's ridiculous that people care at all. Also, I love that my OoT runs' threads are still being brought up. So satisfying.

the tas is simple, semi fast paced and well done yes vote, btw is the sword really faster than the boomerang ? can the boomerang hit multiple ennemies ?
You actually lose the boomerang as soon as the sword appears onscreen. I did test this because it would've been faster otherwise to keep the rang. I also tested if this just applied to the first pirate, but no, it happens to any one you kill. Once the sword shows up (even if you don't collect it), the rang is permanently out of the game. Also, about saving the potion for some pirates instead of the spider: I didn't actually think of that and will test it today. Thanks for the suggestion EDIT: It's 125 frames (2.08 seconds) faster to save that health refill for the pirates. Thanks Cardboard! Submission file updated, YouTube video will be updated soon.

I'm aware of dying after entering a level, but it's slower in every single case, than just picking up a canteen.

Here's a wacky idea: publish good runs that people enjoy. This run should be published. SM64 70 star should be published. OoT's old any% shouldn't cause it's a boring, confusing fetchquest. IDK what's hard about this or why the "rule" has to apply to every game.

I still want to commentate my MST run with you and Grunz. If you're down for that during the summer, we should do it.

Why are you so mean to me, JXQ? I'm a fan of yours and wish you would do a commentary for one of my runs.
