For a VC TAS, there will always be the argument that you're playing an official release.
Would it be more legit to TAS it on dolphin or a N64 emulator?
It crashes on N64, so TASing that version with an N64 emulator is not legit. It doesn't crash on Gamecube or VC and those versions can be TASed with Dolphin.
This is accurate. And since this is the "Nintendo 64 Games -> Ocarina of Time" forum the VC and Gamecube stuff is pretty much irrelevant. To make it perfectly clear: This glitch can not be used on an N64 Zelda OoT TAS because the glitch causes an actual N64 console to crash. (even if your emulator doesn't)

There doesn't seem to be much to "digure" out. When the glitch is performed on N64 it crashes.

none of this works on N64 right? Making all of this irrelevant

bombchus ended up being slower didn't it? I thought that was what killed Grunz motivation to TAS any%

there is no reason to worry about that since nobody is TASing this game, much less 100%

The 100% definition has already been established. The reasoning for the definition is clear. Bosskeys, maps, keys and compasses + intermediate upgrades (like the silverscale etc) can not be checked for when completing the game and therefore do not in any way contribute to 100%. The only way to check for these items would be to go back to their respective dungeons (for keys, compasses, maps and bosskeys) or to watch a recording of the run for intermediate upgrades as they are unobtainable after u get the highest upgrade (at least I believe they are). Since there is no 100% counter in the game we use the pause-screen in it's place.

Asking questions and raising concerns are often usefull, disregarding it as "steering shit up." only prevents progress. But I can be more clear and direct with my points. I don't believe anyone actually started the run because Grunz had exams to finish. He expressed his hope that MTA (or others) would get the rupee-manipulation done before he joined the effort. Yet there has been no indication from anyone that they have accepted the challenge. I am assuming that if someone actually produced a decent escape they would have responded in this thread. I am also still of the opinion that getting used to Bizhawk over Mupen will take some time for the people who previously used mupen. So that will probably also cause some delay, but since everyone is so high on bizhawk it must be worth it. I am really hyped for the new any% TAS so I am hoping for an update soon.

So this is why there was a genderselection option on my profile. I mentioned all the genderoptions here in a mumbleconversation with my gamerfriends and we had a laugh about it. But after reading this thread it sort of makes sense

I know we are all frustrated about their lack of response, but there is no reason to go full sarcasm-mode Samsara. I have faith Grunz or bloob will drop some knowledge here eventually

give them a break Eszik. They don't have to respond if they don't want to. There is also a possibility of them not even checking this thread

My guess is nobody wants to start TASing because the opening from the last TAS was really well made and they are affraid the new TAS won't be on par.

It sucks that it can't be submitted here, but I guess it can't be helped. Maybe someone could explain the situation to the admins here so it gets published anyways
