Using a lovely site, called Touhou Project Replay Archive. And I can also get it to the specific branch and show the TAS flag, which is this. And apparently, the one with a YouTube video is under 13 minutes.
That's an incomparable version using hex editing to make the game harder. I'm not sure what tertiary effects it might have. Here's a better one on the base game using suboptimal characters (can't fully exploit the MAlice glitch). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bGBgaJgtOAg Also, Extra mode isn't unlockable from the start, so this submission is missing the stuff that goes with that as well.

Five minutes are spent on Guile, bereft of any major glitches or particularly super human combos, followed by resetting the game and playing a single round to show one glitch (or in Vega's case, the same combo twice) before resetting a few more times to do the same, ending with Akuma, an obviously broken character locked behind a cheat code, curbstomping everyone, again, not really showing off any major glitches or particularly superhuman play. It doesn't seem particularly well thought out and there are an assload of glitches in the various SF2 versions that could be shown off. http://combovid.com/?p=1450

Also, it's kind of a shame to lose the subtitles in the original encode.

More importantly, play them quickly and efficiently, which were apparently not the primary goals.

Shinobi Kid wasn't ever actually released. That was the working title for the game and Alex Kidd was eventually tacked on top of it, but it's not like High Tech World where in Japan it was an entirely different game and the localization painted over everything.

Would anyone be interested in obsoleting the Final Fantasy VI run from 2006? I think it's time we obsolete that old run.
First, not first 500, so not sure why you're posting here. Second, http://tasvideos.org/1555M.html

If you actually read that thread, there are a lot more issues raised with the run than "no zips." One of them being that the rule wasn't "no zipping", but "no zipping except where I zip," which would be considered arbitrary and nonsensical as fuck today too.

And you could specify new categories all willy nilly, and they'd have approximately the same entertainment value, but that's based off the game choice, not the goal, and when choosing one that's esoteric, it should generally be one that alters the strategies and tricks in a major way that readily differentiates itself from a regular run, and one that the general populace agrees is worthwhile. Of course, those are just rules of thumb too.

I don't think anybody uses the poll as intended, although few complain that people aren't following the poll rules when there are mountains of "Yes for Vault" comments, only "No, but entertained" comments. Some day, the poll question will be vanquished. But I doubt that day is today.

I have to say that I kind of miss beating the final boss via ending input as you enter her room.

I've been getting into the Ghosts 'n Goblins/Ghouls series via Capcom Generations 2 and this version appears to be greatly different from the one I've been playing. Is there another port of the game, or is this based of some arcade game (a very cruel arcade game if that)?
Check it! The amount of attention and dedication given to such an awful game is truly astounding. Good job, guys. It's strange watching a run with no torches around.
Almost every port of this game during its 'living' span is different in major ways. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ghosts_%27n_Goblins

No. It's the same game.
Isn’t the ending different, though? Maybe the last boss fight? If the rest of the game is the same, can’t the input just be copy-pasted for the 2nd loop? Then the game would actually be beaten at least.
Each loop does increase the difficulty. Mostly (entirely?) in terms of speed and spawn rate. It's really easy to see here (4th loop) with the zombie speed and plant's bullet speed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QpEjS4QaJ_E I highly doubt it could be copy/pasted, even above and beyond needing to grab the cross to get the real ending.

You seem to be losing a bit of time between bosses compared to the Nico TAS (doesn't use the amulet glitch, so loses 30s-1:00 on pretty much every boss). http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm9052243 For example, watch from the end of the second boss side by side (~7:20 in his, ~6:00 in yours). Between the time the two diverge (you enter a shop to buy a ton of stuff at ~7:20), you're a couple seconds behind. Any idea what's going on there? The run is ancient, so could be emulation stuff, but he also seems to be hopping when near townspeople instead of randomly, so maybe that's where lag reduction is coming from?

What I find most depressing is that there's a good end to the game with an actual boss and whatnot, leaving there also room for a 100% run.

Maybe I'm missing something. At ~33:05 in, you have this situation. Can't you solve that with L-U-L? The solution used is U-U-L-L-U. Edit: Ah, this is one of those "not optimal solutions due to cut scene" things, isn't it? It really... irks me.

To save anybody else the hassle of checking, the situation he's referring to in the MS Paint diagrams occurs at 3:20 in the encode. Edit: To echo some stuff from the old thread, I'd think the Japanese version would be preferred (US version removes two levels and recycles two to replace them), and this run doesn't get the good ending, which requires fighting an actual boss instead of just going right far enough. Although it does require transforming into Hyde, which is done by getting hit a bunch. It's a terrible terrible game.

Maybe people who make Youtube videos explaining arcane things in terrible games should be more accurate.

Maybe I misunderstood then. I'm pretty sure it was x:00 for the free pass from the temple guard and it only checked for the 2k gold for the other. http://www.smspower.org/seganotebook/alexhigh/alexhigh.html

The route change is to buy the backscratcher (1,000 gold) and get the other 1,000 from the clouds in the ninja area.
And then you'd still need to wait until the top of the hour
For what? There are three possible methods. Pass for free from the temple guard (top of the hour) Pass for free for praying 100 times Bribe guard for 2,000 gold You can make ~1,000 gold for selling the backscratcher, 1,000 for the hamburger event (requires 2:00), 1,000 from the clouds, and I think 3-400 from the random coins strewn around.

i think impossible hour advance 5 minute to entering in room and my time is 10:53
Does the time advance when waiting in the village / in a room?
I looked into this. Minutes advance in real time, screen transitions advance the clock by 5 minutes. Both of the alternate methods would require one room transition and around two minutes of waiting judging from that time, and the praying takes barely under a minute. The route used in the TAS appears to be the fastest unless there's another, much quicker way to advance time by single minutes. EDIT: To elaborate, by the time the praying stops, it's just turned to 10:54, so praying is at least a minute faster than the other two options barring a route change or something else. Thanks for the answer, gamerretro2. I'll judge accordingly when the time comes.
The route change is to buy the backscratcher (1,000 gold) and get the other 1,000 from the clouds in the ninja area.

Wow, this is definitely not the best entry of the Alex Kidd series. It's really disappointing how few platforming parts there were. You basically have a whole bunch of little fetch quests, it seems. The game that did this kind of style right is the Linus Spacehead game that Bag of Magic Food did a run for. Instead, this feels like it takes the worst parts from a few different games... that one Japanese game where you try to gain piousness comes to mind. (I can't remember its name right now.) The technical skill looks good, but we'll have to see about a better route.
Technically, it's not an Alex Kidd game. In Japan, it was Anmitsu-hime. She wanted to go to a bakery, not play the latest Sega games. They just overwrote the main character's sprite and made crap up for all the dialogue.

Hmph. Didn't edit fast enough. Anyway, here's the other two ways. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L_FsRpOqn5M Note also that there's 1,000 gold hidden in the ninja forest, so that's an alternative to waiting for the burger thing.

There are multiple ways of getting past the guard. I EXTREMELY doubt that praying 100 times is the fastest. And by extremely doubt, I mean that it's almost certainly the slowest possible way to do it. Alternatives are to bribe the guard (2,000 can be easily made in the village from the backscratcher and burger events), or to just be handed one from the event with the temple guard.
