A similar idea I once had would be a togglable "commentary" option, which would just be a bit of text at the bottom of the screen to explain certain things. But then, I guess just including notes and savestates is a decent enough system as it is right now.

Saw this on the internet somewhere, decided to record a movie of it. No tool-assistedness, just something vaguely interesting. Wario Land 4 Debug Room

Definite yes: Fast, entertaining, over-the-top combos and at least one misfired fatality. Fits in perfectly with all the other MK runs submitted!

Yeah, the description seems to be ignored quite often.
In that case, I'll probably give the little "This movie is tool-assisted" message at the start a voice reading it out, just to make sure nobody misses it.

Would anyone be interested in a compilation video of some of the stuff in this thread? I've been gathering the AVIs and I figure if you guys want it to happen I'll slap one up on YouTube with proper credit and stuff.

The test run looks very promising, even though MKT stutters like mad on my crapbox of a PC. Keep at it!

I got an idea how to implement this. I would like to add the excellent icons The Kins has created, to the forum system, so that the award icon is displayed underneath the poster's name (hopefully in a manner that doesn't spam the forums too much), with a title (mouseover text) indicating the type of the award, and the image being a link to the actual movie for which the award was given. How does this sound?
Something like this would be pretty cool, but as it is this whole thing, as previously mentioned, has got some rather arbituary categories etc. One thing that WOULD be cool would be deciding some definite categories (Most creative manipulation, The Nijutsa Award for Most Awe-Inspiring Glitching etc.) and having some annual/half-annual awards. It'd just be a bit of fun, but it'd be interesting to see what'd come out on top.

More award images! From left to right: Longest Submission Text, Least Appreciated, Most AI Humiliation (the ball gag is a nice touch, no?) and Most Thoughtful.

My first attempt at award graphics, for the hell of it: From left to right: Greatest Devotion (sprite thanks to "Rapid the Hedgehog"), Craziest Concept (lol nudie run), Best Juggling Act, Never Give Up, and the WTFness Award ("WHEEEEEE!!!")

how do you make these?
I used the MAME tile viewer to get the sprites, Paint Shop Pro 8 to tweak them, and Animation Shop 3 to actually make the GIFs. Though recently I've been getting sprites (for spritesheets) using a little program called AnimGet. And here's a little something I made recently for a laugh: Greylo 3 (960kb)

Weird, your testrun gives me a "No Controller Found" error at the start.

Haha, awesome stuff Bisq! I'll have to contribute again when Chrimbo Shopping, a speedcapped internet and general apathy all bugger off enough for me to get intimate with some popular runs.

How fitting - some runs like Zelda 2 bend both of these quite happily.

I don't know if I ever mentioned it, but I never played the 64 version of this before now. I had the PS1 version though. Who are the two hidden characters on the menu? Also, I noticed unmasked Sub-Zero is missing. WTF? He ruled. Are there any other missing characters?
Subzero and his Unmasked version were "merged" for the N64. The only other characters missing from the N64 version are MK1 Kano, MK1 Raiden, MK2 Kung Lao and MK2 Jax.

Actually, I know of a Genesis UMK3 hack that adds pretty much the entire cast of MK1 and 2, but it requires modified emulators to remove the rom size limit, so I can't run it :(

An interesting thing to keep in mind about the N64 version is that the hidden characters and bosses can perform fatalities (Kahn, Motaro, Noob Saibot...) Not sure if this means you can pull fatalities ON them, I'm not too familiar with MKT, but it's something to keep in mind. Also, the N64 version doesn't have the "classic" versions of Kano, Jax and Kung Lao, but that can be ignored.

Heh, who's going to get started on the MK1 run? Genesis or SNES? :P As for this run, it's quite good! Opponents are disposed of in swift combos, and there's even a couple of glitch fatalities (which I'm guessing are much trickier than in MK2). Probably the only downside is damage-taking and perhaps too much Kung Lao (although this has been explained). Yes vote!

Very impressive - the "oh hay i will just teleport around the battlefield to my whim" thing kinda broke my mind, and while the rest of the run wasn't as glitchtacular, it was without a doubt an improvement. Yes vote!

Hmm, is it just me or does this desynch right as the movie ends? You throw the boss at Syrup, the movie ends, it misses and she zaps you to the ceiling.

This is fantastic! Completes the game in record time while severely wrecking it's inner workings. Consider this a yes vote!
