Uhm... There is something wrong about BizHawk with this run. Before submitting the .bk2 file, I wanted to do a quick check and noticed that the header had written "GB" as Platform. So I manually fixed to "GBC", since the game is, as you can tell just by seeing, Color.
But only now I noticed that if you try to play back the .bk2, BizHawk gives the following error:
(in case you're wondering: I'm using Windows XP, but I've set the old interface appearance)
I'm pretty sure there is a problem with BizHawk 1.12.1 about detecting GBC. Should I resync the movie on a newer version?

Thanks for the explaination, now it's more clear.
Still, I'm not convinced there won't be any difference for accuracy. Won't be better to have the possibility to change input for every input polls? Also, won't setting Equal Length Frames to false create inconsistences with the calculation of movie length?

I've just noticed a GBC game I'm TASing, E Mo Dao (aka Devil Island), gives different results whenever the GB setting "Equal Length Frames" is set on true or on false. The description in the windows says: "When false, emulation frames sync to vblank. Only useful for high level of TASing.". The problem is that this doesn't explain at all if this makes the emulation more accurated when "true" or when "false". Could someone please explain?

I'm not sure about it, so I'm waiting someone from the staff to answer this.
By the way, I think it should be fine if the patch has been made and released by the original game author.

Yes, there is hope, but depends on many factors. One factor is entertaining: if the TAS is not entertaining, it will need to pass the Vault requirements, which are more strict.
I'll explain from the Guidelines ( http://tasvideos.org/Guidelines.html#Tiers ):
So, if the TAS gets too many "no votes", then it will accepted only if the branch is "any%" or "best ending".
You have written "see ending", but I don't understand what does mean. It is the fastest ending or the best ending?

Now that I think about it, there is another problem: if the TAS fails to get in Moons, would it be still Vaultable? Because Vault is applicable only for the fastest game ending and the best ending.

In the RAM Watch window, if a signed byte value gets a different sign, then the Diff column will claim to have a difference of sign "--" or "+-", depending on the situation. I'm not sure if this is supposed to make sense; in that case please explain me. Screenshots made on 1.12.1.

Yes, but these are still minor improvements that would save something like the 0,1% of the movie lenght, so I think it could still be accepted in Vault tier for record keeping vs the RTA record; so please consider submitting your run anyway.
By the way, I must note I see many optimization flaws in the second level, the one riding Polar. You should try more to jump in a moment that makes you get back on ground earlier, because it moves faster while walking than while jumping.

Don't worry, I also often got the impression to have found possible improvements, and then figuring I was wrong after trying to put it into practice. Improvements often need hard trying, so your help is still appreciated.

Oh... Thanks... But I have to warn you: this is something insane. The only place where you can manipulate luck is in level 1, during the brief period in which you can use Crusher gun. Then you have to redo the locusts in level 3, and just hope that they make you gain enough frames; if not, repeat.

Just out of curiosity, I've done a quick check if I could save some subpixels in level 1... turns out I saved 2. Then the boss died 5 frames faster. User movie #39779455533968551 (see below)
But I'm not going to redo the run unless someone will want to help me with the most technical stuff.
The fact is that in the movie I submitted, I got a lot of luck with loading times and frame rules, and redoing the run could even result slower in the end.
Edit: So. I've resynced level 2 without huge issues, but on level 3 the problems started to pop out. The first mid-boss in level 3 died 3 frames later, due to bad RNG with the locusts. The RNG started to change when I used the first Smart Bomb in level 2, so it's just as I thought: I got really lucky with RNG in my submitted run and it's going to require some serious efforts to break it.
By the way, here is the movie of the resynced attempt: User movie #39800672183089620

Clock Tower is a point and click SNES game. Despite the fact that it was only released in Japan, it got popular worldwide, and has an active speedrunning comunity: http://www.speedrun.com/clocktower
The game features many story routes, but on TASVideos are currently published only the best-ending and the worst-ending ones. This would be already enough for a game that has a low entertaining potential, but in my opinion it's not the case for this game, which has already got in Moons tier (with the exception on the glitched ending, which still was vaultable).
Plus, the Japanese TASing community on Nicovideo is very active too, since they already TASed many game endings that are currently not present on TASVideos.
My point is that having all possible game endings runs published on TASVideos would allow to have a record comparison with the speedruns and the unofficial Japanese TASes.
By the way, I'm not suggesting to bend the rules; I'm rather asking opinions about the value of this game and the idea of putting effort in making submissions for the currently missing game endings. Please tell me what you think about it.

My story is probably out of place here, but I still feel like joining the discussion, in the hope to give some inspiration.
My life never was harsh, but I still have a huge problem that disables me from living properly: myself.
I'm affected by schizoid syndrome. To make it simple, I have little to no interest in human relationships, despite being perfectly able to interact with others. And over time, I lost more and more interest in living at all.
In the last years, there were times in which I was depressed to the point to be unable to eat. It's kind of strange: you feel hungry but you can't swallow anything. Though, every time at some point something happened that gave me some will to live, for example when I got my first dog.
I'm not scared of death. There was even a moment in my life in which I totally thought to be a goner, but didn't felt scared at all. But I've never tried suicide, because I'm constantly contended between the sense of void and a spark of hope. It's really a torture.
The good new is that during the last year I've started to get better. Now that I think about it, there is one base reason that caused the change: I've started to be less rigid. It's not just being more open-minded, but it's also being more open to new ideas, experiences, and possibilities. But it's not like I've done something in particular... It's just that I've come to understand that being rigid is wrong no matter what. And when I still notice to have some rigid thought or behavior, I call it into question and reconsider it.
By the way... Maybe I'm not qualified to try to help people that had an actual harsh life, but I still want to try my best.
I think that the secret is to never give up. Always believe that you have hope and that you have value, doesn't matter what! Doesn't matter what others say or what happens, keep believing in youself!

I'm not kidding. Density is the only thing that affects floating.

Typically pools are filled with local tap, with filtering and additives.
Are you suggesting that every other pool I've been too has added copious amounts of salt, and this one did not? (This one being a bunch of cheapskates wouldn't surprise me.)
It's not just salt, anything can make water densier. In fact, distilled water is the kind of water in which you float the least.

In general trying to swim in this pool was much harder than usual, and I felt it took a ton more out of me. Jumping off the floor which I usually find easy was really difficult and slow going.
About this, the only thing that can make swimming harder is the viscosity. Though I have no idea which substances do make water more viscous.

I want to bring attention to this run that has been recently accepted: [3415] SNES Donkey Kong Country "101%" by Tompa in 41:18.37
In my opinion, it has all the requirements for getting into the Stars tier: game quality and notoriety, goal choice, run lenght, optimization... And it's not just me, other people suggested it in the relative submission thread.
Edit: also note that this run took 10 years to be made.

I think this run should go in Stars as well. Everything about this run is magnificent, and I can enjoy watching it despite not being familiar with the game.
