Hey, I am working on the tas of this great game. But it is many years since I played it last time. I just wondered, how many prisoners are you needed to resue and what things is really important to finish the game except for the R.C. missiles, grenades and explosives. And of couse, the keycards. I wonder, if this game will make a good tas? A japanese platform game, where you control a kind of demon boy which have to kill angels, etc...

I am watching it right now, great work! :) I really like it is without getting damage (as it was my goal of my old video) Green planet: the jump in area 3(?) you does with power on, you should be able to get it without powerup and then you can skip the powerup too.

I have nothing against you but I know it is more improvable. Seconds here and there lost. I know the previous movie wasn't so good and this one is still better but I know it is likely to be improved by at least another 2 minutes. Voting no.
hehe, I know it was bad, phil. My first movie ever. Hmm, I think I am gonna start a fight, Guybrush. :P

He used something named TAS (tool-assisted), which means he could re-record and use slowmode, plus various other stuff.

I will share the first time-attack I made for bucky o' hare. The movie have it downs and ups, didn't get accepted by Bisqwit. But I don't feel like delete something I wasted so long time on. :) So here it is: Bucky O' Hare (US) non player hurt 29:39 The first level is the worst one to watch, cause I tried to do various things to make it faster. But... The best part of the movie is probably Red Planet imho. Note: I dunno why the time got changed, but I guess it have something to do with famtasia, because the version I sent to bisqwit back there was 29:40.

Well, I have been able to watch every movie I have downloaded from here. But not every WMV movie I have downloaded. I dunno about different formats of movies, but I wonder if it is because I am using windows 98.

Ironically enough, a legitimate 100% speed run was done for this game. Feel free to watch it and see where possible improvements could be made. http://planetquake.com/sda/other/YoshisIsland.html (each level apparently starts with 0 eggs in this run, so there's plent of room for improvement there alone.)
Very nice! :) Useful resource for me, I need to check where it can improved. Thanks alot of the link.

Yoshi's Island would make an entertaining speed run because it's popular, and more importantly it's a mario game, which everyone seems to like watching speed runs for. The code should be allowed because I think it's mentioned somewhere in the game, but even if it's not, what's the point in not allowing it? It doesn't make the game easier, it would just let the people watching the speed run see the secret levels being played.
It is in the game? hmm I don't remember seing any codes in it. I tried look on gamefaqs.com and did just find a code for the mini-games. I guess I will search on google instead then. Edit: http://cheats.ign.com/ob2/068/000/000495.html They are talking about some secret code under "hidden door", I will check that.

I'm still not quite sure if it would be interesting. It's quite a long and straightforward game, and I think it falls into the category of games that are much more fun to play than to watch. I can't think of any cool timesaving tricks that would save time or anything. But if you're gonna do it, I think it should definitely be only for fastest completion and not for the points. That would take way too long and be quite boring.
Well, I will see. I think any platform game would be fun to watch, but that could be me. Well, not any. But I think SMW2 would be fine for a time-attack.

Oh, I will search for that code. But would that be allowed, I guess I will wait for bisqwit or ask him.

I am probably out to do this game, even snes re-recording is done (I am not gonna try yet before it is at least pretty much bug-free and other options ready). So do anyone know of useful glitchs you can't find on David's site? I am not sure yet which type time-attack I am gonna make (normal time-attack finishing all the levels the fastest time or get all the points so I can complete the secret levels too). This game have awesome music and graphics. :)

Or wait for someone who can play through a game with actual skill instead of a quicksave crutch. Re-recording along with slo-mo have removed all interesting elements of watching movies of the franchise. Basically another case of an idiot programmer utterly failing to consider the consequences of a feature before adding it. Now, beyond that, we just need a SNES emu that makes it easy to output to AVI. Regular SNES movies screw up too much when there's a lot of random enemies.
Uhm, no one is saying we don't have skill. It is not what we are doing. We are making fun to watch movies eg using glitchs, etc... If you bother it so much we are "cheating", don't watch them. No one push you in watching them. If you haven't read this page yet, do it

Read this first, before acting like a jackass. READ! No one push you into watching the movies. If you feel like doing a speedrun, do that. We make the movies for fun and entertainment.

I'm more impressed when the game is played flawlessly than when it's an actual speed run. What I mean is, it's more impressive to me if they don't get hit at all instead of getting hit because it'll save a second or two.
I agree, but it don't make the games/runs with useful hits bad. Some games also don't have useful hits, where they just make the player fall or slow.

I'm also not too big on people exploiting glitches. It doesn't really matter, but I like to watch old NES games played to perfection, beginning to end, without someone doing something that makes me say "that was cheap."
to me, glitchs is what is fun to watch. If you want to see the "normal" route I'd see a speedrun or play the game myself. A time-attack without any glitchs or other fun stuff is simply not much fun for me.
