>Gens 9f Okay, that explains your desynch problem. Gens is now up to version 9j, and it sets the correct controllers automatically. Download it from http://tasvideos.org/EmulatorHomepages.html

>No, this thread was created before I changed the front page of the forums. But not before Xkeeper's post outlining a new problem with Opera (I have the same "problem"), which was what SXL was replying to. I say "problem" because I actually prefer a longer list to two columns.

>... if there's a "better" version of GENS for movie making I may decide to tackle this. Well, which version did you use? There has been a few revisions lately.

>I tested every frame where it was possible to jump after the jump I did, and they each caused me to complete the loop I was on slower by at least 1 frame. Every jump delays you for one frame (in Sonic 1 and 2 at least), can't that be the reason? Perhaps the increase in speed doesn't make up for it. I'll check the new WIP in short while, but I doubt that I can come up with more improvements than nitsuja.

I can get 12 on this keyboard page from SDA: http://www.xfinitegames.com/stuff/buttonbash.html But only 7 (!) on that mouse clicking page... and I'm pretty sure I'm faster with the mouse. What gives? EDIT: Now I suddenly zoomed up to 18 once on the SDA page. o_O But I can't get over 12 when I try again, had to have been some glitch.

tmont: Like nitsuja said it's for grouping purposes. Perhaps I can change this to something like "Legend of Zelda 2: The adventure of Link" so that the full name of the game is at least included somewhere in the string.

adelikat: Yeah, I didn't want to go rebuilding that big-font smiley with colors and everything, so it seemed easier this time. Usually it doesn't. Xkeeper: So it seems. "Oh, that was acid? I thought it was coffee. Coffee so hot that it burned the guy's skin off." "All my posts are useful for building a nest! Don't underestimate my posts!" "And what's so great about credit?" "What's wrong with calling everybody "someone"?" "TTT? I believe you mean the TTC! (Transportation and Ticket Center)" Perhaps these post are funny to some people. I just don't see it.

>The first Rygar movie of Warp was intended as a no-glitch movie, not as a no-warp movie. Well, intended as neither, I would say, because gliches and warps were not known when the first version was made. When the first warp movie was submitted (which was after three versions) it was published separately, essentially creating the "warpless" category. If you want it to be consistent, either label all three first versions as "no glitch" (glitchless?), or "warpless". As I see it there is no noticeable difference in goals between the first version and the next two. And not really to the other warpless movies either. EDIT: To JXQ, I changed the Tokushin movie from "no flutes" to "warpless" also.

I agree with Bisqwit. Most of his posts are useless (and funnyless) oneliners. I like comic relief, but BoMF isn't it.

Okie dokie. Merged Rygar, Chip&Dale, and Super Metroid. Super Mario 2 is still a mess. Should I merge everything into USA PRG0? Some submissions, which only have USA now, specify PRG0 in the ROM name field. But I suspect that most don't.

For Rygar, I changed the types ... no death -> no warp death-warp -> warp ... because the "death warp" in the newer versions does not include death. The warping versions are also "no death". Now I see that all the older versions are listed under the old tags, and ListAllMovies have five types. Should I change all the older versions to the same scheme? Is this functionality intentional?

Hopper: About 50 users have posted their birthdays, for any two people having the same birthday that's about 97% chance. Unsurprisingly two people have already had the same birthdays. The wikipedia article explains what you asked also, the probability for someone having the same birthday as you for 50 people is about 13%.

nitsuja: Is there any reason why we shouldn't begin recommending 1.5 as the preferred snes9x version here, if it includes everything "we" added in 1.43 and supports more games?

Why did you go and say that for? Now I had to check which submission is leading the race to infamy. The biggest amount of no votes I found browsing the submission list was this submission (10 no votes). This one comes close (9 no votes), and is also of interest because it shows why you shouldn't trust yes votes too much.

Same source as Inzult, but with pretty graphics: Single worker, no kids (Sweden #4, Finland #7, Denmark #9) Family, 2 kids (Sweden #2, Finland #6, Denmark #12) Another one, same source (OECD Revenue Statistics) Total taxation as % of GDP (Sweden #1, Denmark #2, Finland #3) If nothing else, I think we can at least agree that both Sweden, Denmark and Finland have very, very high taxes. Now, I'd rather hear some more interesting things about different countries, instead of taxes...

Jimsfriend> Truncated, it would be easier for us to know where you should move if we know what you like. Well, actually my inital post originally specified what I was looking for in a country... but that turned into a major near-flame politics debate on IRC, so I removed it. My flamboyant style probably had a lot to with it also, though. For reference, I could do the good and bad parts of Sweden as I see it: * Weather/nature: Beautiful and scenic. Big forests and archipelagos. Mild pleasant summers but very cold winters. (-15 to -20 deg C is not uncommon where I live.) * Politics: Obviously my big problem. Out of the latest 70 years, the social democrats have ruled 60. There are few parties which can match that, including dictatorships. (I'm not suggesting Sweden is a dictatorship.) ** Taxes: Generally considered the highest in the world. Income tax starts at about 30% but is strongly progressive from $36,700 a year to 50-60%. Your employer must also pay about 40% of your total salary in payroll tax. If you own more than $200,000 you also pay captial tax. If you own a house you pay 0.75% of its value in property tax. If you want to buy something, assuming you have any money left, the VAT is 25%, unless you're buying gasoline, alcohol, tobacco and some other products, then there are extra purchase taxes. ** Tax spendings: Benefits and allowances consume about 34% of the state budget. In comparison education gets 9%, healthcare 5%, police and courts less than 4%. * Healthcare: Swedish healthcare is an oversized grossly inefficient behemoth. Since I have an incurable disease, I have had to deal with them quite a lot. You will have to wait a long time (months) to actually get healthcare, but at least it's moderately cheap. Private options are for the most part illegal. * Schools: Completely free up to and including university level. Private (but still state-funded) schools are allowed, for now. One of the better parts of Sweden. * Infrastructure: Crappy roads in many parts of the country. Railway and airline connections are okay. Very good cell phone coverage and broadband possibilities for the most part. * Energy: Sweden has decided to phase out all nuclear power, which delivers just shy of 50% of Sweden's total electricity. A few fully working reactors have already been shut down, and prices have soared recently. Up until a year ago research on nuclear power was banned. * Liberties: Freedom of speech, politics, and press. Abortions and gay marriage (sort of) is allowed, very weak religious influence. Only one state-owned company is allowed to sell alcohol, and private healthcare is also illegal in most cases, as stated above. * Language: Basically everyone under 60 speaks and understands English, if you want to move here. Just like everywhere else though you'll be better treated if you learn the local language. German speakers can generally make themselves understood within a year, Danish and Norwegian in a few weeks at most. * Etc: I wrote way too much already. >Besides JUDGING and TAS. Oh, you mean like personal interests? There might be children reading here. Dromiceius> Thanks for the info. I've been considering both Canada and Switzerland. I looked up Vancouver on Wikipedia and my fear of even worse weather than here, seems to be unfounded. +1 point. I actually lived for a month in the German part of Switzerland. (Schwyzerdütsch is like a bad parody of German to me, but that's minor.) One problematic thing is that it's not part of EU and hard to get citizenship. Seems like both Jimsfriend and MahaTmA are going to move first chance they get. :)

Thank your for providing your useful input, Bag of Magic Food. It is as always a pleasure to have you around. In spite of this massive information overload from our most beloved member, perhaps there is some small piece of information that he missed that someone else could fill in?

I guess you all know by now that the liberal/conservative side won the elections in Sweden! Hooray for that. This also means that I don't have to move from here any more (at least not for the next 4 years), which I was seriously considering doing if the social democrats won AGAIN. So my idea for a thread is effectively ruined... but I will do it anyway. So where should I move? Convince me. Explain a bit about the social structure, politics, economy, weather, nature, girls, language, etc. of your country, and what parts of it you like and dislike. Some limitations so this doesn't turn into a flamefest: * Don't put down others' countries. No, not even the US. :P Put forward the positive sides of your own country instead. * Only argue for/against your own country or a country which you have experience living in. (The grass is always greener somewhere else... which is also why I had thoughts about moving.) ------- EDIT: Less in-/un-/a-sensitive posting style, because people didn't find it very funny.

>Every TAS that i made was rejected or cancelled (well, for these previous, i understand that ... If the previous runs were rejected fairly in your opinon, why did you bring them up? >rejecting THIS run, that earned more YES votes than NO.....this is just unfair. It's not a simple majority, even if the votes are important. 5 yes and 2 no is not very overwhelming feedback for a submission, but it could of course be enough if the judge deems it interesting. I also think 3 (we don't have 4) Battletoads and 4 Metroids are too much (2 and 2, possibly 3 respectively would suffice in my view), but like adelikat said, bad decisions in the past is not a good reason to continue making bad decisions. I should mention that I haven't seen this movie, but perhaps I should if think you have been treated unfairly and want a second judge's opinion.

Two things: 1) This uses REV 01, I think. I had a desynch with REV 00. I hope DeHackEd has that under control. 2) You said: >Also, as I've gotten used to having a Sonic speedometer available in other runs (for other emulators), I added that too. Is there any chance of you making this available so that other people can monitor memory contents? (I assume that's what this did.)

>EDIT: Has any other run ever been rejected because of stylistic choices despite the fact that speed wise it was obviously good. Yes, the one that immediately comes to mind is a Super Mario Bros. 3 run which was faster than the published one, but made nothing interesting during the auto-scrollers. I realize that it probably feels unfair to have your work rejected despite being of high technical quality, but I was just about to make the same judgement as adelikat. I also encourage you to make an attempt to obsolete JXQ's current run, it is obviously within your power.
