>Is there a way to allow more keys to pressed down without having to conform to using a Gamepad? I think at the most three can be pressed down if you press the right combination. Sure, I could rearrange my keyboard keys the only problem is that I'm using a notebook PC, a rather small one so I am limited already to what I can do. I have had the exact same problem as you, with a notebook/laptop computer. It seems that the built in keyboards they come with usually accept fewer keys than ordinary keyboards, mine could only take 2 keys, or 3 if one of them was shift. There are no direct solutions, but there are work-arounds: 1) Use a gamepad like you said. 2) Use an extra USB keyboard. 3) Use the emulator's hold-button function, if it has one. 4) Get a REAL computer.

Dacicus is pulling a heavy load here, having to debate basically the rest of us. >galaxy This was completely my mistake. Fix: The Milky Way is calculated to be around 13.6 billion years old. Still no discrepancy. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milky_way >The numbers that Truncated posted earlier show that there is by no means 100% agreement among scientists about the truthfulness of evolution. No, "only" 99.86% agreement. Few fields of academia could hope for so much agreement in a supposedly undecided topic. That's in the US, where skepticism about evolution is higher than in any other industrialized country - in the rest of the world I suspect it's even lower. Teaching evolution is not an issue here.

We can't help you with #1, you will have to find it on your own. As for #2, none of us had done a speedrun before we tried for the first time either (obviously). :) I have no idea what kind of game this is, but if you record a level or two and upload it, people will probably give their input on your playing and if they think that the game is suitable or not.

The specification seems to have settled down to stable form now. Is everyone satisfied with how it turned out or do you think there is still something that needs to be addressed? Because if not, perhaps we should start thinking about actually implementing it.

Well well, I'm gone for a day and this topic exploded into complete nonsense. Just one thing: DeFender1031> In fact, it explains a discrepancy created by the theory of evolution. The issue is that the geological age of the eath (by carbon dating) is far older than the age of the galaxy (based upon its rate of expansion). 1) Carbon dating is only used to date things that once lived, a group which the earth is most certainly not part of. 2) Carbon dating can only be used on objects up to 60,000 years maximum. 3) There is no such discrepancy, the universe is calculated to be a lot older (13.7 billion years) than the earth (4.567 billion years). See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radiocarbon_dating http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radiometric_dating http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Age_of_the_Earth http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Age_of_the_universe The end.

pirate_sepiroth: Not that I don't like porn, but some of us are probably at work or some other place where that kind of picture showing up without warning can get you in trouble.

Like Fabian said earlier, I think we would be well off to drop evolution from this discussion. If anyone is still interested in knowing more about the issue, and forming your own opinion, these are probably the two biggest sites dealing with it: Pro-creation: Answers in Genesis Pro-evolution: Talk.origins (notably their FAQ area) I also think it should be noted that there is literally no disagreement in the scientific community about Evolution being correct.

This obviously doesn't transfer into the general population, where many people, even the majority by some counts, are still skeptical of evolution. (I used to be one of them.) Wikipedia links (neutral, all of them interesting reads): Evolution Creationism Creation-evolution controversy Evidence of evolution (previously linked)

Question: In Wily 4, against the cannon boss. Can you not save one crash bomb at the end, by shooting the two rightmost walls and "headbutting" the exposed cannon (3rd last) while they explode?

So perhaps we can try and keep it that way before people get angry and the mods smite us with a big hammer? Or perhaps wait until this movie is published and this thread is flooded with "Help, I can't play this AVI, I only get sound!" messages?

>I'm not a fan of no-damage runs, and I think you could be more reckless in this aspect of the gameplay, such as killing enemies at the last possible frame or taking damage to save time (please correct me if there are no known ways to do this in this game, although it seems highly improbable). You lose your x3 damage multiplier whenever you get hurt, so going unscathed all the time is probably the right thing to do. It's the same thing in Shinobi 3. Anyway, I think that the best thing to do is probably to take the best parts of this and the previous run and make a new one, with all the improvements that were suggested last time. The thing that bothered me the most was probably the turning around to shoot enemies. That should be avoidable somehow.

All will be forgiven once the run is complete. :) Hope you can get past stage 4 soon, it's always though when you get stuck somewhere boring and lose your motivation because of it.

Aww, look at all the bad stuff this poor guy had to put up with from you, just because of what his dick step brother did. :( It's just like what happened to omniswarrior, and Cinderella. I think this line says it all: "Maybe now I can return to a normal instant messaging lifestyle."

>anyways if he wants to do a mario run who cares? Not a lot of people obviously, which is exactly what he asked. Would people find it interesting, and could it be published? If he just wants to gain some experience, starting TASing right away is the best (and only?) way. Also, and I might be misremembering, but I think Kitsune is a she. PS to xebra: the only good American is a dead American.

Frans G. Bengtsson: Röde Orm I think the translated title is "The long ships", even though it literally means "Red Snake". There are two parts.

Tsk tsk, you Genesis bashers. The "music" in THIS game blows (actually I think the whole game is crap), but you can consider yourself yessified anyway.

>What did you mean by that? By an "artificial limitation" I mean a restriction that you place on yourself without there really being any need for it. Such as "I will never use this or that weapon" or "I will get all coin boxes". >Anyway, I was just wondering that if I made the run, would it be accepted for submition? You can submit it, and people will vote for it. If it is generally liked, it will be accepted for publication (encoded into AVI).

>Truncated, I don't get what you mean by "artificial imagination" ... That makes two of us then. That I have no idea what I meant by it is probably because I didn't write it. >I just wanna make ... another movie that some people will find interesting to watch. And I'm saying that I think that most people probably will not find it interesting. That's just my speculation, but you wanted opinions.

Standards were a bit different back when that decision was made. Left+right moves didn't feel right to most people, but I think that has shifted now. (Though, I think they were used in SMB then already.) I wouldn't mind if a left+right movie became the only movie and obsoleted the others, but I wouldn't mind that much if it was just an extra FCM-only movie either.

Hi Xpenguin, and welcome. People here, as a general rule, does not like runs where you impose some artificial limitation to make the run harder. This is especially the case if the run would not be significantly more entertaining and interesting, as I think the case would be here. There are plenty of other runs people would like to see done which you could do for your first run, if you are interested.

Yes. How about redoing the glitched run while you're at it?

>Shouldn't we have a list of ONLY interesting games? That's the point, but - it's hard to know if a game will be interesting before there has been an attempt at it - anyone can add a game there without knowing if people will like it, and people are not inclined to remove other people's suggestions

Put another way: If this run uses a warping glitch, and is slower than the one we have published now, it will be rejected. But if it instead finishes all the mandatory dungeons without warping like you're supposed to, it can be published in a different category. (Apologies if I missed something, I haven't seen the current progress.)

The problem is as you said that video games typically does not have turns, but are played on reflexes. For example in a fighting game: if it allows both players to perform the same moves, and treat them the same (i.e. no player's moves has predesence + spelling), all matches are a forced draw.
