I think the object of this thread was to make everyone aware to all the good stuff nitsuja has done here, by giving him the ninja rank. It looks like that won't happen, but I think that this thread has shown that everyone is already well aware of how much he has done, so the ninja rank is superfluous. Perhaps this thread should be locked now.

>No, you don't need to swing it again... If you press the button after releasing the spin you will start a new spin directly after you made the first one. I've played this game ALOT so I know what I'm talking about. I'm also planning a 100% Speedrun on it... Hope you understand what I mean. Am bad on explaining things on eng... I understand what you are talking about: starting to charge a new spin while one is being performed. However, that only works if the spin attack missed, if you hit you have to swing to charge again no matter what. I know because I thought the same thing, but and went and checked it first. Try it yourself.

Second opinion: It looks good. Don't feel forced to use the downward attack bug all the time. There are other ways to make it interesting. For example, you have your new toy the car to spice things up. A bug in next set of enemies which might be fun to show off, maybe I've already told you: you can attack the Garcias standing above the tracks, and they will fall as soon as they land from jumping down. Team attack, maybe. Or you could time it so that they jump down into the car, like in your last movie. Your choice.

>To get the expert mode, at the title screen press Up, Up, Down, Down, left, right, left, right, B, and then A. A chime will indicate you got it. Then go into options and set difficulty to expert That's where I knew it from. I'm only up to the screaming dog, but I'll upload it as soon as it's done.

Heh, my movie desynced too and I managed to fix it by hexediting. It was just transposed three frames too early. About your movie: not bad at all, but you made one mistake which will disqualify your movie unless you fix it - you didn't actually select expert mode in the options, you only made it available with the code. This is obvious in the cellar, there are no flying ghosts there like there are in expert mode. The tactic you used was very smart, I didn't know you could skip all the whip upgrades and still get the blue whip. So if it's any consolidation I also have to redo my movie. :)

Ah, sorry. By first boss I meant the hellhound, even thought it's technically just a sub-boss. I haven't tested against the armor.

Okay, thanks. :) I did some more testing on the first boss: with blue whip: 12 hits with the one you get after getting hit once: 14 hits So the blue whip is indeed stronger, but not by a lot. The first two hits take off two bars of life with both whips, that's why I missed it the first time. Is anyone on it except for me? Competition is nice.

Whew, it was for Whip Guy. Then I have at least six weeks to finish a Spear Dude movie. Better get started... ----------- EDIT: Can anyone explain exactly how the spell book works? Sometimes when I pick it up I get a few extra crystals, sometimes my weapon goes blue and I get a big ball as a special weapon. Which one I get seems to depend on what special weapon I have equipped, but I'm not sure. Is the blue whip worth getting? It doesn't seem to damage the first sub-boss any more than the regular whip...

Oh, goodie. I have been hoping someone would redo this movie. If you can upload a movie somewhere I could have a look at it after the weekend. I remember there being another suggestion for how it could be done faster in this topic (I think). I don't think it's included in the published video. You should check that out.

Nbarnes: Are you sure you got the correct ROM? That's the most common reason for desync. You can check your exact version with a program called GoodGen (I think). >apparently nobody working on an improvement to this run Maybe someone should do that.

I: * am studying my last year for a masters degree in engineering at the uni * used to study all the freaking time * used to write a popular online diary * used to do martial arts * used to play and compose music * used to do a lot of things really but * now mostly rot in front of my computer * could really use a new hobby * like bullet lists Since we're plugging our music, here's two pieces I and my brother made somewhere in 96-97. Bullberrybush - Destructive Pronomina - some kind of techno by me and my bro Truncated - Powerplant (One must fall cover) - cover from the fighter OMF2097. It's supposed to fade out, but whatever. (WTF is up with the url function?) A bit more recent: me and two friends, I'm the one on electric mandolin (yeah, really): Theurgy - Prologue Theurgy - Degeneration (Interlogue) The sound quality is crap, but you get the idea. Good topic, by the way.

You damn pinko commie. I'll say this, if there is anyone at all who should be awarded ninja rank, I think it's nitsuja. If not him then no one else either. At the moment at least.

>... even Max can both fight and keep the screen scrolling. But that's because of his slide and tackle moves. Axel and Blaze don't have any such moves, but Skate can run.

>It would be worth your time to see if the 2 player downward attack bug exists in this game. It does, in some form. I've had it happen to me when an (or two?) enemy drained my whole life with one punch, me and coplayer standing inside each other. I don't know how to reproduce it. >And Skate...well, he's just too weak. He has the speed to keep the screen constantly scrolling while fighting, though. Probably there are so many places where the screen stands still that his lower damage output doesn't make it worth it.

>You would lose 10 frames a second of input, which would result in considerable loss over the span of a period of 30 minutes (10*60*30 = 9000 frames/150 seconds lost). No, it doesn't work like that. Just because there are less frames of input that doesn't mean that Samus moves slower (she doesn't). However, you cannot pump your arm cannon as often (don't know what effect that has on speed), all jumps will be less precise, perhaps some other tricks are even impossible to perform. Despite of that, I'm not too convinced that using PAL version couldn't pay off.

First things first, have you seen the Max only run? I'm quite sure a Max + whoever run would be faster than Axel + Blaze. The only other difference I know of is that Mr. X smokes a cigar in BK2.

>Actually fuzi2's run of Cameltry is much faster, it's only longer because it chooses a higher difficulty Hm, really? I was afraid it was something like that, but the other two movie states they were played at the highest difficulty too. Which way is it? I'll unreject fuzi2's run if that's the case.

>While you are on a rejecting spree, take a look at these: Hehe, I prefer to call it a judging spree. ;) But yeah, I'll take a look at those later.

Because, while Samus runs the number of pixels per second in both versions, the European version only gives you 50 button presses to work with every second instead of 60. The game cannot be played as exactly and time is lost troughout. That's what I remember Flatley saying earlier at least.

>You should probably cut that whole paragraph, unless it fulfills a specific requirement for this assignment. The humor requirement, most likely. Not that I think that there was such a requirement, but anyway. >Get to the point, you silly person! I would prefer "silly cow", but it's your call.

Oh god NO. This game is an insult to gamers. I only played the Mega Drive version before, and to my horror, this game manages to be EVEN WORSE. What exactly do you like about this game?

I started from the bottom of the voting results this time, and I already took care of Dragon Buster and Crash. It seems like the DQ2 movie is an easy target too, but it wouldn't feel right to reject the movie without at least watching it, which I can't. But I think it's safe to say that it will never get published anyway, so I won't let that technicality stop me.

I have now rejected some of the oldest submissions - Flintstones 2, Actraiser 2, Hook, and Shaq Fu (which was not that old but deserved it anyway). Ring King and Tom Sawyer are currently very close to joining that gang. I have accepted three movies which were clear improvements over previously published versions - Gods, Strider, and El Viento. Now we only have to hope that someone will take the time to encode them. Any other suggestions of what I should look at next? If not, I'll just keep on working my way backwards trough the queue.

This submission is very old and it's about time it got judged. I'm giving it a week. Those of you who thought this submission should be published, could you explain more about why you think so? I'm not convinced so far. For example, how would you try to sell it in it's description?

It's already accepted, but I have a question: in cloud ruins, when the game autoscrolls upwards, you are on the left when the scrolling stops, why not on the right? Does it mess up the scrolling somehow? Same thing when the game stops scrolling down at frame 50200.
