Never seen this error... have you tried workarounds? Like unpausing the game before resuming record? Or stopping the movie, start it again, and resume record a few seconds after that? Make a backup of your config. Just exit cleanly once after you set all the options.

As I wrote above *points* the rules state that you must use the same version as the already published version, if there is one. That means no Swedish verison published. And yeah, I agree that the hex-editing page is crap. Maybe I should go and do something about it...

Useless nostalgia flash about bad translations: I played an old Game Boy game in Swedish which was really horrible translationwise. I have forgotten the name, but anyway, you went around opening tits. You open tit! Obviously the translator didn't know the difference between chests and chests.

We have some movies in Japanese which most people don't understand squat of. From that perspective the Swedish version would have been OK, if it wasn't for the rule that you should use the same version as a previously published movie. See the rules page. It makes comparing with old versions a whole lot easier. I would give some tips on the movie itself if I had any.

It's likely not get-aroundable. You'll have to do what everyone else does; try a few different approaches (minimizing lag, maximizing stream, or a bit of both) for every scenario and pick the fastest one. Probably it will be very difficult since you have two characters, and thus more possibilities than we usually have.

There is no such things as "too many rerecords". :) I would watch this WIP if I could.

>both characters are incessantly jumping towards the top at full speed. whats the problem? CoolBumpty explained this sort of... did you understand what I meant? You focus on having both players jumping at the same time when having them jump one at a time would be faster. Redoing every shot until it comes out right is supposedly what Genisto did to improve the previous version by about 30 seconds. (I cannot find the comment now but I remember reading it.) And yeah, that's probably not very funny. Even if you optimize it heavily with focused bullet streams and lag control, I think there are plenty of possibilities to fool around and create art. I stand by my comment that the wobbling is silly. But I liked the four-armed monster.

There are already very good TA runs for Doom 1 and 2 on their vastly superior PC versions, so I don't think there's any point in messing with those. Maybe I'm one of the few that thinks that Mortal Kombat could be entertaining. Not going for speed, but playing around and showing stupid stuff while still winning. Like Gradius, if you will. Actually there is a way around the descync in the MK games, I think. But it makes the sound go crap.

Since the name was "Experiments in galvanism", I assumed that there was no robotic limbs involved and that the dead frog muscles were controlled by electric currents. Which would likely be a reference for how bioelectricity was discovered. But I admit to not reading the text at all, and in the pictures it does indeed look like some sort of mechanics are involved.

Faster than the published version, no obvious mistakes, voted yes.

Nice idea. But I feel it can be improved some. - Sometimes one block breaks before the other in the base levels. If you did it as fast as possible, both would break at the same time. - The twitching is silly. Do it together with the music or something, or at least not as fast. - The vertical level seemed to focus more on duet synchronized swimming than speed. - Most importantly, it's slower than the published 1-player verison. Because of this, I voted no. But I would love to see a 2-player version which beats the published one.

>After much study and comtemplation over the various problems, I came up with a format which would be impossible to tamper. Sounds impossible. Can you tell me how that would work?

Both of the download links work just fine. There is some error on your end.

Hey, nobody's perfect. Or at least there aren't that many of us.

They don't, because it's impossible to tell if someone is cheating. http://speeddemosarchive.com/rules.html
Emulators: We will NOT accept demos recorded on emulators ...
EDIT: Whoops. Just saw this:
For PC games, you'll need software that captures the playing as you go. Unforunately for older DOS-based games there's no reliable way to record them yet unless you can output to a VCR. Commonly used software for newer games include FRAPS and CamTasia.
So you can use Camtasia for PC games. But still not for emulators.

This mismatches with every ROM i have, and consequently desynchs in the very first level. Which version are you using, Dan?

It sounds much too good to be true. But since the worst thing I imagine they can do is sell my email to some spammer or verbally abuse me, I signed up with a secondary already spaminfested email address. I actually used to work with this kind of stuff.

There has to be some mistake on your part. To me the riffs are obviously identical. There are some weak examples in that list though. E2M3 and E3M8 for example. But most of it is pretty clearly "borrowed".

No, for a number of reasons. 1) This site only accepts input files (stored keypresses), not video files. 2) The result (playing without tools) would not be impressive enough for this site. I'm afraid there are no sites which accept regular speedruns made in emulators. If you want to submit your regular speedruns somewhere, you'll have to track down original consoles and carts and record it on video. For example http://www.speeddemosarchive.com and http://www.twingalaxies.com accept such videos. Good luck.

Someone who understands these tricks should really add them in the RockManTricks page. It's getting outdated by the day now. And I'd like to give a small salute to finalfighter for being one clever bastard.

1) Make backups. Constantly. 2) From the mistake you made, it doesn't sound like your movie should be deleted. But I could be wrong. 3) Did you try this?

I watched it, but I don't know what to think. The mouse running was good, but I wish there was more of it. The other parts weren't as interesting, to be honest... So I don't know what to vote. What do you think?

I was only commenting on your comment that if you take more time than some other run, your version will be rejected. This is not true for this game - it's better to pull off interesting stuff than being fast in a fighting game. I would be more inclined to vote yes if it wasn't for the barrel round. That was a lot better in Saturns movie.

>The techniques looks good and it's quite fast-paced as it is now, so I can't quickly find things to blame in this movie. It was hinted in the corresponding topic in the GBA forum that this could be improved a lot. The first level was 6 seconds faster. I haven't seen either this or the new version but I think that it's better to wait with publishing if there are significant improvements to be done.

I didn't understand that comment.
