I’d like to enter the NES Pinball TAS competition.
Pinball is not the type of game I usually TAS, so I’m treating this mainly as a learning experience and a personal challenge. Still, I’ll do my best to optimize the run within the competition rules.
Thanks, and good luck to all participants.

Thank you everyone! Huge thanks to the encoders, judges, editors, and everyone involved in getting this published. I really appreciate all the work and support, it means a lot to see this run make it through the process.
I also have a question regarding Resident Evil Code: Veronica’s Battle Game. Is it possible to submit TASes of the extra modes as well, even if the main input file was started without a Memory Card? I’m curious about how this is usually handled, and whether separate input files for these modes would be acceptable.

Things being mentioned here is enough to make us notice them, but unrejections are going slowly because there's always not enough judges to quickly handle both current and old submissions, so things have to wait until someone claims it. I'm tempted to claim it myself but then all my other TODOs that have been waiting for months or years would have to wait even longer :(
Thanks for the clarification!
I totally understand the backlog, judging and handling old submissions must take a lot of time and coordination.
I really appreciate you considering it, even with your current workload. If there’s anything I can provide or clarify to make the review process easier, just let me know. I’ll be glad to help however I can.
This would even fit into Standard by now, I think.
Yeah, I agree with the new, more relaxed rules, this run would probably fit the Standard category now. At the time of submission, the requirements were a bit tougher, so it didn’t fully qualify.
I checked side-by-side with existing runs and it is still highly optimized and remains the fastest time for this category.
What would be the proper steps to have it considered for publication under the current rules?

Verified the movie.
A note for encoders regarding a potential input file for publishing (if anyone cares about it). After the end of the credits, a screen will pop up regarding unavailability of Memory Card in Slot A. The upper option must be selected to transit to the ending art of Redfields standing together. You press A or B and the result screen shows up (Rank A, Time 1:45:34)
Good note, thanks for pointing that out! Especially since the in-game text is in Japanese and it might not be obvious. I made sure to handle that part in the encode by selecting the upper option at the Memory Card screen.

Welcome back, Uroboros! I proposed to re-review your RE2 "Claire B" TAS due to new, more lenient rules, and it's even stored in some TODO list, so maybe it'll get eventually published, but it needs some expertise to see if the run is still optimized.
I'm not gonna repeat what other members have said. +1
That's one of those games which is easy on paper and hard to pull off, much like RE Zero. I'm so glad it has finally TASed!
My only question is, why your TAS video timing is 1:45:34 as opposed to movie file's 1:39:23?
Thanks a lot, Dimon. It’s really good to be back! I didn’t know until now about the possibility of my RE2 Claire B TAS being re-reviewed, that would be amazing to see, I'll check that out later.
As for your question, the movie file shows the pure TAS time (input length), while the in-game time (IGT) ends up longer because as I mentioned in submission notes, the SD version (Dreamcast, PS2, GameCube) doesn’t allow skipping the last cutscene and the ending credits, which adds roughly 6 extra minutes to the total length (8-10 minutes if you compare the entire movie to PS3/X360 HD version), so that’s why the total time is 1:45:34 while the input length is 1:39:23.
Kinda lame, especially since this doesn’t happen in RE2.

I liked this TAS a lot. There is something inherently funny about seeing a game present those dramatic cutscenes/jumpscares with all kinds of monsters, only for the TAS to just unceremoniously run past everything. The highlight of this was when it was done with an entire boss fight! The door transitions do add up, but even with an unedited encode, it's not too bad to just skip past them. Voting "yes"!
Thanks a lot! That’s exactly one of the things I enjoy most about making TAS. Skipping all the drama and just running past everything makes the game feel unintentionally funny. And yeah, removing the doors was extra work, but I’m glad it helped make the pacing feel better overall.

It helped a bit, but the point is you don't really have to use cord in order to get an optimal run.
After first meeting Sherry in Scenario B, you just have to avoid going straight into the Library and the zombies wont break in... ive tried that myself.
Anyway im going to wait for Mothrayas to pronounce here and see what he thinks.
About movie ending, should i record input until write progress to memory card then, right? I think thats the proof i need to start Second Scenario using SRAM (if my movie is accepted ofc).
EDIT: I have found this comment from a user at GameFAQS forums which makes totally sense of what ive said earlier
Using the cord in Scenario A leaves the windows blocked in Scenario B, but it has no strategic value whatsoever. If you're playing right, you should never have to return to the now zombie infested hallways. The break-in during scene B happens "earlier" if and only if you enter the library at anytime during that scenario. DO NOT enter the library at any time until you are ready to get the last two puzzle pieces you need to exit the station. That means if you are in the 2F lounge on the west side of the building and you need to get to the interrogation room on the east side, you aren't allowed to take the Library as a shortcut...you have to back track the way you came.

Hey guys,
I have one question regarding a recent TAS Project ive been working for Resident Evil 2 (GC) in the past few months.
I just finished Scenario A with Leon and would like to know if i have to stop the movie right after pressing last game input or after writing the progress to memory card since theres Scenario B to work later, or maybe just keep going and record it in the same input... same movie file i mean.
I cant tell for sure if the first Scenario is going to be accepted for publication or not, so i would stick with first option.
Thanks

Hey guys, my audio is not dumping to AVI with 4.0-1857 (using x264vfw codec and yes the dump to avi option is checked), also everytime i exit dolphin that option is unchecked again.
I tried recording my movie file with 4.0.2-avsync and it dumps fine, but my input desynced.

No disrespect but you sure you want to tas this game? It's incredibly slow paced.
Yea im sure, i really like tasing RE games, also the movie is not in fullspeed because a/v sync hack is not working on Dolphin 4.0 yet, so im unable to encode better than this.

My theory on TAS'ing this game, since you have two characters is controlling both characters at once (Analogue and C sticks), while being away from each other (in separate rooms), swapping between them when you need to open a door (or pick up an item of importance) and continue onward... meeting up when necessary (or even dropping the item at a point when you know the other character is going to cross it later?).
I suppose you'll be doing something similar? or?
Also, can you make encodes of your WIPs. My computer can't run dolphin at 60fps and I would like to offer my suggestions without having to watch the movies at 5 fps :P
Yes, i used C stick once using TAS Input to approach the other character in the stairs, it was pretty simple though. I will be encoding and will post link here asap.

I don't think you can control the other character if they are not in same room, I think. I know they can be attacked if left alone and will not be able to change the room they are in.

I don't know much about RE0, but I'd be glad to run your dtm files to verify them, and perhaps check if I can save frames in some parts. Are you going to use the gamecube or wii version?
I'm using Gamecube version and i will upload the dtm later so you can check it for me, i dont know how to save frames without having to redo entire movie.

I'm TASing RE0 and i would like some suggestions or tips/tricks about that game, i'm trying to do it as precisely as i can do.
It's not my first time tasing a RE game, but RE0 was the least i've played.
Right now im at Giant Scorpion boss, about 20k frames.

Hello, I've been watching some PSX videos and i saw they are encoded in MKV format, i would like to know what program do you use for that and how to let them as small as possible.
I am using kkapture, but it only has the AVI format.
Thanks.
Sorry for bad english
