Saw the news over on the smashbros subreddit. rog was a great buddy back when I used to hit the IRC a lot a few years back. One of the most helpful people in a community of already helpful people. Hope you're in a better place that makes you happy rog/Rachel. Thanks for the memories.

Been having trouble with every PSX emulator under the sun trying to play this, yadda yadda yadda, tried PSXjin. AI hangs, came to check this thread, saw Bif's .ini fixed it, gave it a whirl. Copying Bif's .ini does solve the AI hanging issues, but any use of savestates (saving or loading) would instantly unload all loaded textures/sprites/polygons (and dw0914's post confirms it wasn't an isolated with my computer). So I started with a newly generated .ini from a fresh unzip of PSXjin and in isolated sections I would swap to the settings from Bif's .ini until the AI would work. Under [Plugins] change the lines PsxAuto=0 PsxOut=0 to have 1 instead of 0. As far as I can tell from the first two battles, the AI is working and there's no graphical unloading either. No idea what those lines do, but that's the culprit. I'll be playing the game all the way through, so if there's a problem at some point, I'll either edit it in or submit a new reply.

4 rerecords? <_< EDIT https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q-sr0LXVhxc - Nitsuja's KSS TAS beat Spring Breeze in around 3:45, let alone the rest of the game. At the very least you need to beat existing records when submitting a TAS. Also, I think this is a poor choice of goals considering the game.

Can't wait to get started doing the commentary on this run. It'll be tougher than working on the TAS, for sure.

Extra late to the party, but what an amazing run. I couldn't believe the amount of damage that can be done abusing the Power/Mega Rush badges. The Fish glitch was especially awesome and I had to read the submission notes to even make sense of Chapters 5 & 6. Great job you guys.

I saw this on my YouTube feed and had to come over here. Sorry I'm so hard to get a hold of (YouTube doesn't make any effort to alert you about your inbox). The run is amazing and I don't believe that it is right that I have my name included on this. While I had worked on an Amy run a while ago (June 2012), it was literally less than a week that I had done so. I'm glad that my WIP was helpful and I really appreciate the thought, but I couldn't in my right mind accept any credit for this. Amazing job on this though and sorry to see that the 100% run didn't come to be.

Theres a bit of bugs that are happening in the verification movie that i dont trust. That, and my schedule has thrown me WAY off, so yeah. -_-'
What sort of bugs? Could you go into detail about them? Perhaps they could be useful.

Does it matter? NO Reason: TASVideosChannel is not partnered therefore no money was going into it in the first place. Who Gets affected: Every single partnered account with a tas run (Mostly every video sonicpacker has uploaded related to mario) And who cares people will figure that out.
Sure it matters. It has been stated that TASVideosChannel would never monetize and the Content ID matching makes it appear otherwise. It's not rocket science to understanding why it's an issue lol.

http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/16/nintendo-mass-claims-revenue-from-youtube-lets-play-videos/ From the article:
When a "Content ID Match" is claimed for a YouTube clip, the claimant is given the right to place an advertisement at the beginning or the end of the video... All revenue earned from views, however, will go to the content's copyright owner, rather than the video uploader... Nintendo explains its position in a statement issued to GameFront: "As part of our on-going push to ensure Nintendo content is shared across social media channels in an appropriate and safe way, we became a YouTube partner and as such in February 2013 we registered our copyright content in the YouTube database.
Although the article says that it is only newer games effected, there are specific videos on TASVideosChannel that now have ads on them. Most of the NES Super Mario Bros. TASes are effected, but not all of them or any of the hacks. [1912] SNES Super Mario World "warps" by bahamete, kaizoman666 & PangaeaPanga in 10:20.60 is effected randomly upon loading, but the glitched runs are not. As those two games weren't listed when the article was written, it only seems logical to assume more games are being added for Content ID matching as time passes. While it's not an actual problem for the channel, it could create confusion concerning TASVideosChannel and monetizing its uploads. EDIT It effects the videos if they're navigated to from TASVideosChannel's YouTube channel. Direct links (like the 1912M page) seem to eliminate the advertisements. The differing result due to navigation is probably an oversight and shouldn't be that way, I'm assuming.

SoulCal was clearly listed as the author in a large font for a minute. They also said it was a TAS and I assume some other info about it (possibly including that they didn't produce the run and other stuff to prevent "CHEATER" comments). As for the feedback, SoulCal's channel is listed in the description so if somebody had constructive feedback, they can send it to him directly. Even if SoulCal wouldn't be able to handle the feedback, it is still more than minimal feedback from the French community compared to TVC.
Agreed. I don't speak French, but I can at least understand that they do reference me many times and give me credit. The commentary also expands the run to our French audience, which is good for the TAS community in general. And about feedback: A-M is a competent runner who would be able to address common questions, which he already did with the audio commentary.

If your only concern is recognition then a compromise during the encoding process could very likely be made. Perhaps a super logo (advertises TASVideos, identifies the author and rerecord count) or a second logo at the start of the encode listing your alias as the author and some stats about the TAS. It would be short enough that skipping wouldn't become a thought, but long enough to clearly communicate and establish yourself as the author. Everyone could be happy between it being uploaded to TVC and no case of mistaken identity.
But we already have both a logo appearing before every video, and a notice stating the author and rerecord count a few minutes in. Making it a "super logo" would just piss people off.
So it's a bad idea that's not an acceptable compromise, but suddenly it's good an fine when it's in a different language? Also from skimming a handful of comments with my understanding of French (I've taken French I/II in HS), no one cared about that long logo at the beginning of the video. There's also at least two cases of mistaken authorship from the couple dozen comments I did skim, when the commentary attempts to make it very clear over and over otherwise. If TVC were to use a super logo/use an extended logo in the encode to establish authorship and then translated your comments to Spanish, how could you argue against that? You probably couldn't without establishing personal bias, or at the least have an extremely hard time proving otherwise, against the TVC ruling. When it becomes a personal problem instead of a problem with the rule, that's a losing battle for sure. I'm all for contention against the TVC rule being the linked/sole host of movies on YouTube, for one because it's not in all cases. However, I'm going to withdraw my support in this particular scenario. You've established that there are exceptions for what qualifies an account to host your run and that's where the argument loses all it's creditability. All TVC would have to do is provide an encode which meets those exceptions and you no longer have an argument about it being uploaded there. On a side note, the commentary was very pleasant and informative in A-M's video. I'm not as fluent in verbal French, but they did a great job of providing a laymen explanation of the tricks/glitches and other insights to your TAS that even I could understand with my limited French. My only gripe is that it's not in English cause that'd have made it much more enjoyable.

No, I'm afraid I still don't get it. You seem to be hung up on the fact that the rule is arbitrary. So it is. But that isn't a reason to fight the rule, it just gives you the means to fight it, should you choose to do so. So you've chosen to do so. Great. Request that the video of your run link to your YouTube encode, submit your run, and bask in all your glory. You've done great work and should be rewarded for it. Why are we arguing about all this? I reiterate my agreement with AngerFist. Edit: I like big fonts and I cannot lie...
Let's assume that SoulCal submits his .dtm and requests in the submission text that he wants his channel as the sole host for his TAS. Oh no, that request is denied. Now SoulCal has now relinquished his only bargaining chip. Nooooot the smartest move from his position. Also, here's a thought. Quite commonly, a TAS on the workbench is rejected for an arbitrary goal. So why couldn't a TAS reject the workbench for an arbitrary rule?

You're in the wrong community if you're doing it purely for the recognition. However, I would personally favour submitting the run within the coming weeks. That way the movie can be verified, and can be improved at some point down the line. There is no way I would have taken on games like Karate Kid, Chuck Rock and Quackshot if the previous movies weren't there.
Wanting to create something with the intention of receiving recognition or praise is a driving factor for plenty of people in life (especially authors and artists). It produced an entertaining TAS that (if submitted) would certainly be in contention for a couple awards next year, so I'm not sure how it's a bad thing. Along with SoulCal, I'm also curious why the rule doesn't apply to the three movies SoulCal listed, when clearly there were to be no exceptions. Is it simply an oversight or are they intentional exceptions? If they are intentional exceptions to the rule, then I would think that you would have to question this being the "wrong community to do it purely for recognition". Also, I don't see how those runs could be corrected. It would risk alienating some of the most popular authors that this site has. If those three runs aren't corrected, but SoulCal's TAS isn't allowed to be solely hosted on his YouTube, then it becomes an insult to SoulCal. It would be because either A) He's not as recognizable as the authors in those three runs or B) Because of his game choice/he didn't TAS SM64, OoT or MMX6 (two of the three being the most popular games on this site). Besides, the attention that SoulCal is showing to his upload on YouTube is pretty impressive. He answers any and all questions in the comments in a snappy fashion, which is something you don't see too often with authors. Anyways, I'm pulling for ya SoulCal. Stick to your guns.

I couldn't care less about my view count. I just want the recognition for what I did since I put a couple hundred hours into making this run. I don't want people thinking someone else made it.
Also, it seems unlikely that a YouTube account named the "TASVideosChannel" could be mistaken for the creation of a TAS. The name communicates instantly that it's an account with videos from a site called TASVideos. Just to back it up, I skimmed the comments of a couple of random videos and didn't see anyone praising TASVideosChannel for his/her/it's play. As you said yourself, everyone who is subscribed to the TVC is already associated with the site or familiar with the operations of it, so they're not the ones who would make that mistake. So if it's really just a matter of recognition then you shouldn't have any worries. Also, I loved the finished run. Congratulations on completing it and hopefully you'll submit.

How come you guys lure that enemy across the bridge around 11:50 and kill him near the barrier? Forgive me if it's something obvious, I'm not that familiar with TP (only beat it once in 2006).

Both of these runs are going to be put on hold indefinitely, sorry for those (especially you paused) who were looking forward to the finished projects. Maybe sometime down the road I'll have the free time to finish them, but it won't be anytime in the foreseeable future.
