From the article:
Although the article says that it is only newer games effected, there are specific videos on TASVideosChannel that now have ads on them. Most of the NES Super Mario Bros. TASes are effected, but not all of them or any of the hacks. [1912] SNES Super Mario World "warps" by bahamete, kaizoman666 & PangaeaPanga in 10:20.60 is effected randomly upon loading, but the glitched runs are not. As those two games weren't listed when the article was written, it only seems logical to assume more games are being added for Content ID matching as time passes.
While it's not an actual problem for the channel, it could create confusion concerning TASVideosChannel and monetizing its uploads.
EDIT
It effects the videos if they're navigated to from TASVideosChannel's YouTube channel. Direct links (like the 1912M page) seem to eliminate the advertisements. The differing result due to navigation is probably an oversight and shouldn't be that way, I'm assuming.

Does it matter? NO
Reason: TASVideosChannel is not partnered therefore no money was going into it in the first place.
Who Gets affected: Every single partnered account with a tas run (Mostly every video sonicpacker has uploaded related to mario)
And who cares people will figure that out.

It matters if advertisements suddenly are being added where they used not to be. That matters much more than who gets paid for what advertisement might be there. Advertisements make your videos more annoying, and is an insult to the viewers. One of my videos also has advertisements on it, and I am not happy about it.
Sure it matters. It has been stated that TASVideosChannel would never monetize and the Content ID matching makes it appear otherwise. It's not rocket science to understanding why it's an issue lol.

Does a single video loaded from our movie pages display advertisements?
(Watch using: ... YouTube)

I just checked... several Nintendo games (mario & zelda games) got nothing. Checked the account got a little thumbnail that's it...
I guess the full thing will start in a couple of days.

I uploaded a temp encode of the Smurfs 2 TAS and it was removed by the owner's claim with giving me a warning. Yes, it was not unlisted. But TVC published uploads aren't either. If some mad owner decides to remove all matches from TVC, it can be closed for "numerous copyright violation" even if after uploading it only said that no actions is required on the user's side.
Warning: When making decisions, I try to collect as much data as possible before actually deciding. I try to abstract away and see the principles behind real world events and people's opinions. I try to generalize them and turn into something clear and reusable. I hate depending on unpredictable and having to make lottery guesses. Any problem can be solved by systems thinking and acting.
I use AdBlock, of course, but most people don't. I hate the thought that some of them might think I put the advertisements there myself. I also think that advertisements are a negative influence even on the people who don't block ads, so I would rather not expose them to more than necessary.

Square-Enix recently followed this move.
All of my Final Fantasy VII videos have recently been flagged:
Dear antdgar3,
Your video "Final Fantasy VII Speed run (TAS) Part 5", may have content that is owned or licensed by Square Enix Co., Ltd., but it’s still available on YouTube! In some cases, ads may appear next to it.
