Also, hacks (especially the ones featuring Amy) are my priority, I don’t really enjoy TASing original Sonic games.

Knuckles in Sonic 1 is also not different from Sonic 1. The point is: this is my personal project, which was suggested to be submitted to TASvideos.

Early WIPs for those who enjoy process history WIP-1 WIP-2 WIP-3 WIP-4 deleted for some reason WIP-5 WIP-6 WIP-7 WIP-8 WIP-9 WIP-10 WIP-11 I’ll also upload to YouTube videos of my attempts at MHZ1 and DEZ1, which were replaced by faster ones during making of this run, but the old ones look really nice.

Ok; as I’m done with my TAS, I can finally say my words on this one. I was patiently waiting to see this run submitted and rejecting myself to see WIPs, which was suggested by marzojr. And now I’m really pleased by this TAS, it’s incredible — exactly as I expected from such a great team :) Easy yes vote.

I was surprised when I discovered that Sonikkustar, fuzzerd and upthorn reached the same speeds as Aglar in EHZ, but somehow missed the “run up a slope” and “fall of a screw” glitches. At first, I was sure that they got lower speeds, but now I see that the speed was clearly enough — all was matter of proper alignment.

Don’t worry — we really communicate a lot (using PM and Skype) and share our experience. Sadly, nitsuja and upthorn already left the community. However, there are newcomers — Kiske and tensor, at least :)

Проще попробовать понять, что именно сбилось, и написать программу, которая пересчитает все пиксели должным образом. Хотя… Посмотрю, сейчас не до этого. Меня больше смущает не перестановка цветов в пикселе, а смещение картинки.

Чистое avi, без сжатия, другие под wine не работают :) Мне надо просто делать пояснительные гифки по трюкам, чтобы показывать друзьям, по типу вот такого. Способ, описанный выше, просто офигенно прост, и было бы круто, если бы ещё и работал как надо.

Я нашёл простой способ получения анимированных gif-изображений из игрушек. Сначала нужно сделать avi-дамп средствами эмулятора, затем проиграть полученный файл при помощи mplayer-а в png-кадры при помощи команды:
mplayer -vo png Sonic3k.avi
После этого можно собрать gif-ку из этих кадров такой же простой командой:
convert *.png a.gif
Но я неожиданно столкнулся со следующей проблемой: по какой-то причине mplayer наотрез отказывается корректно отображать avi-файлы, сформированные эмулятором. Кадры выглядят сильно искажёнными: С чем это может быть связано и как это можно обойти? Я подозреваю, что надо указать плееру какие-то дополнительные сведения о характере этого avi-файла, но беглый гуглёж ни к чему меня не привёл.

Hey, guys! I got a challenge for you :) You all know that Qwerty’s “super TAS”, which was known to be his best job, has been improved. As you could have guessed, I have my own “Super TAS by WST”, which I’d like to check for improveableness. Of course, I don’t want to say that it’s perfect — I know that it’s improveable — but I also know that improving it is clearly beyond my current skill — for this moment this is the best I can do. Yes, this is my best run ever made — it’s a result of putting weeks of work into a single stage. So, I am curious to see how much more frames (or maybe seconds — who knows?) can be shaved off. Enjoy

But it costed me extraordinary efforts to browse the forum. Posting this image took me at least 10 minutes. I don't experience packet loss to other resources, so I decided to inform you. Fortunately, today there is no more packet loss, and the ping is much better (~175ms).
