While I recognize that a lot of work was made to make this movie entertaining, I’m not sure if it’s sufficiently different from the currently published NES Super Mario Bros. movies. I think the length of this game is to the benefit of the movie’s entertainment factor. If this were in the warpless category I’d have voted no, but instead voted meh.

In the Vedi Vidi Vici tunnel isn't there a glitch where you can stand on a pixel next to a spike and flip without doing the whole thing? I believe it's done in the all trinkets RTA

I can't seem to find that magic pixel myself and I also can't seem to find a video of it, so could you please link to that video or give more information about it?
I did some research and seems that WarioMCP just confused this game with IWBTB, where this skip really exist. Most likely he accidentally mixed up it with this Vedi Vidi Vici skip. P.S. +1 Yes vote.
Oh wow, silly me.

It's already been established that adelikat didn't publish this because it was his own run, but because it was the first DS TAS. I.e. even if it had been made by someone else, it would have still been published (as I said just a few posts ago).
Except someone else couldn't have made it because the emulator was made public only after this movie was submitted. :o) gia's points still stand, as I see them; but I agree that nothing good will come from making this debate any longer, very sadly. It seems adelikat, Bisqwit and the few others will never see why this publication has been bad for the credibility of the website and the judges; and the rest of us will never see why it's so important to have a few more hits on the website, even if we have to sacrifice other stuff.
Nothing more true has ever been said in this thread. /thread

So, this movie doesn't show superhuman playing?
It shows flawed playing (by superhuman standards).
Only because you're now aware of something that can possibly invalidate its flawlessness -- which you could not figure out by just watching.
I am by no means a programmer, a TASer, nor do I know how to use an emulator outside of changing the controls and playing the game. Yet in spite of this, I had already noticed two key flaws even before I finished watching this movie. -In 1-1, It can be seen that running is faster than using the shell suit. The first level! (it is also, in my opinion, one of the most enjoyable levels to watch because of the faster screen scrolling and high-flying antics demonstrated by Mario) -In 8-1, Thank you for demonstrating the flag pole glitch half way through the movie. An untrained individual wouldn't have known it was possible without you having shown it within the movie itself. Arguments have been made in other submissions that glitches have been found in the middle of an unhexeditable TAS and could not be changed in the beginning of the run and it was published anyway. But shall we fast forward to 8-3? you approach the flag in the exact same way yet you do not do it again, nor do you do it at all in the run outside of 8-1. There were also at least one other questionable improvement that I, a nonTASer, could have pointed out. I only don't include it in my previous two points because I am not sure if it is improvable. -In 8-3, Couldn't more boosts have been attained from the air coming out of the pipes? Two other possible improvements were pointed out that didn't even occur to me before I read the thread. These points were made by experienced TASers, which is why I did not notice them myself. -Saving after every castle -Entering a door in the middle of the door rather than at the first possible moment so mario doesn't walk to the middle and then open it. Many arguments have been made, dismissed and refuted in this thread, but several of my reasons were made not through my own experience, through this thread, other TASes, or through the knowledge and experience of other members of this site, but through the watching the movie and comparing it to other parts of itself EDIT:Warp, I agree with several of your reasons why this movie is unpublishable, but I believe what is seen as you overreacting (which is arguably NOT overreacting) causes others to dismiss your points out of the fact that you are being visibly angry and not logical.

On a slightly unrelated note, how many more of Nitsuja's runs are you going to obsolete? lol

The Genesis version of Snow Bros. far surpasses the NES version in quality and fidelity to the original arcade version. In fact, save for a few added things here and there, the Genesis version of Snow Bros. is an almost pixel-perfect recreation of the original arcade game. The NES version just pales in comparison to it, in all respects.
I did not know about any of that, very enlightening

Game objectives Kill all the enemies with a single move (wherever possible, in some level it's not possible)
I know this goal seems loftier, but remember, the site has already decided numerous times to not publish a warp run for many reasons. One such reason declares

Due to the lack of popularity/entertainment value of this game, it is likely that we will not have both a warped and warpless movies
I know this quote isn't completely relevant, but entertainment is one of the founding reasons for doing a TAS over a conventional speedrun. Regardless of goals, if it isn't entertaining to enough people, it shouldn't be published.

According to the wikipedia page, this version of the game has "additional levels" when compared to the NES version, as well as cutscenes. If I could vote, it would be based on whether or not the number of extra levels outnumber the default levels by a ratio of 1:1 or more. Since I assume this is not the case, I doubt it will be accepted. (I have not watched the movie) This site already has a version of the NES Snow Bros which is more than twice as fast.

Could someone reseed this again? I've been trying to download for about 10 minutes (I know it's not THAT long) and the auto-seeders haven't caught on. I'll leave it up to attempt to download while I wait. Thanks in advance! EDIT: Regardless of whether or not it was an auto-seeder, I thank whoever it was.

This obsoletion debate is silly. [ *TL;DR* (Ok, I did read it, but I'm still taking it out of the quote) ] P.S. Sorry for contributing to the derailment of this thread.
Who cares if you derailed the thread? you're absolutely right. As for the "what if they just edited the already-published movie and saved a single frame?" comment. It's been done before. I'm aware that it was probably just Bisqwit editting one of his old NES Rockman runs for resubmission, but point being, It's not unheard of. Generally though, asking for permission wouldn't be a bad thing. ¯~¯

And you are very right. The people who don't participate on the forums (especially if they don't at least read the forums) shouldn't really matter because they don't have any idea how the site works. In fact, they probably don't even know how TASing works. I've done my fair share of lurking for a while, but I at least took the time to read through the discussions forums, FAQs, and game resources. >.>

Wonderful WIPs. However, I believe the layout for this game already has me extremely lost, lol. I'll probably wait till you get a bit farther before I even attempt to play it leisurely. >.>

Although I would have liked to see this run, I agree with the rejection because it did seem a little repetitive to get pacifist every run. This should probably be TASed for entertainment rather than for speed/high score. It's an unorthodox fighting game, which means that going for score or speed would probably require repetitiveness, especially with kirby. I mean, one could argue that you could kill in creative ways, but with kirby, you would probably end up using a similar strategy as depicted here, only instead of forcing them to kill themselves, you would just spike them downward.

Your recent videos won't play sound regardless of what MP3 decoder I set it to. EDIT: I'm already running the most recent version of K-lite, 2.81 FULL (released 17/12/06)

This AVI also doesn't have sound when played on MPC with the K-lite Codec Pack. So far, I've had this problem with Super Punch Out, Ernest Evans, Mutant Apocalypse, and King's Bounty. none of the other videos have ever given me problems. Maza, maybe you should try encoding runs differently just to humor those that have this problem =P
